Pretty interesting video. Thanks! At BlackShark Den we were kinda dismissing the rockets for lack of effectiveness but last night after seeing this video, there was a large group of Ka50 on one of our servers back to the firing range and shooting rockets. I guess this video was inspirational to all of us.
i would imagine that it's all great when you're in a videogame, and you can have a hellfire for every talib's foxhole, but IRL they're kinda pricey, and you might have a limited number, so being skilled with any weapon you've got equals being effective (or alive).

Awesome! I will try to put that into practice right now! Thank you for sharing!
@@CasmoTV Nah bro that was spot on...... we brief in the dirt sometimes...just like that. I'm coming from the CH46e, so it's good to see the attack helo strategies. When my G2 arrives, I'm actually going to dedicate learning this aircraft as well as the Kiowa when it is released.
This really helps, thanks Casmo! Gonna try to put these into effect on the Gauntlet mission. Lots of anti air units that pop up out of nowhere on that one.
Basically it’s just verifying you’re engaging the right target, ensuring you don’t adjust torque (power) and trim (plus pitch) while shooting and reverifying the target. Sorry, I kinda said it without thinking about it. I’ll address it next time. Thanks for watching!
Use the force! Actually some people put the mark on the dashboard which you can see. Personally I’m not a fan of that method cause it assumes a lot about your posture and sitting height. I use “circle of action” which means I look at the terrain ahead of me in a dive. If a space doesn’t appear to be moving; that’s where I’m going. Basically just adjust fire off that. Thanks for watching!
Well realistically you would engage from further away but DCS ranges are finicky. Ideally you would engage and break before you got close to the target. You see me overfly the target but that’s really a limitation of my ability, in DCS, to properly identify and engage at a greater range. As for reattack your wingman would be engaging as you break and you turn back in behind him or push back and engage from another angle.
Thanks for your videos, they're very informative. Ever since Black Shark was released, it ships with a mission called "Clear Tvarkceli" (or something along those lines). With the AI-wingman being next to useless, is it even possible to "win" this mission ?
I haven’t played that mission, but I’ll tell you the 1 or 2 campaign missions I HAVE flown are like Mission Impossible episodes. One day maybe I’ll turn my eye to making a campaign that’s a little more realistic... thanks for watching!
Was on the struggle bus with rockets in the KA-50 until this. Thanks. Btw, @CasmoTV, were you active duty? I’m a 15T in the guard looking to go flight warrant. Let me know if you’re willing to let me bug you with a few questions about that.
Do you even understand how much you just fixed my life with this video? Thank you very much!

That’s awesome! Rockets are not a weapon of the hovering mind. Get close and put that stuff down their throats! Thanks for watching.

I never was able to get decent results with rockets in the UH-1H in DCS ... until I watched this. Thanks a bunch, Casmo! Love your video's!
Glad it helped!
You sir have earned yourself a subscriber. From one helo pilot to another, your briefing drawing skills are spot on!!! lol
I’m a much better white board artist in person... well I’m better... thanks for watching!

Nice. Well if you haven’t already, hop in the discord. Lots of rotorywing dudes there too.

Love these types of videos, and can't wait to see some more! Thanks for bringing your heli combat knowledge to DCS!
Hey Casmo, just found your channel and wanted to say I really rate your vids. Concise, informative and really well presented. Awesome work👍👍
Mark thanks for the feedback. Greatly appreciated. Trying to teach and have fun at the same time. Thanks for watching!
Extremely informative thank you
david Patmore thanks! I try to make this channel information based with some entertainment thrown in for kicks. Thanks for watching!

Rockets are cool but by far my favorite was the M3P (shooting it, not in the left seat, that suuuucks). Great video 👍.
The old .50 was worse I think but both were beatin my leg silly. Thanks for watching!
Could you explain 'target, torque, trim, target'? Great work on the channel!

Your channel is a treasure chest for sim-pilots.😃 How do you aim with gun and rockets without some sort of hud in the OH-58D?

What sort of ranges and altitudes are we talking about for diving attacks and how do you recover and go again?

Thanks for the insight. Enjoyed
Thanks for the vid Casmo!

0 dislikes - only video on youtube to achieve that
Don’t worry someone’s bound to dislike it lol. It’s the internet.
Time to make some more Huey missions. Only a couple of weeks until I can blast those hydras and hellfires
Awesome video!
Basically, imagine a flashlight beam... pointing forward along the ground, it's long and spread out, and pointing down it's a smaller circle.
An excellent way to describe it
Intuitive!

@@CasmoTV thanks!
Is that last manoeuvre also known as a return to tgt?
Yes and no. I believe that was really just a lot of pedal whereas a PBT is a coordinated maneuver with everything. Looks the same tho 🤷🏻♂️
At what range does rockets are normally launched ?
Depends on how you’re targeting for them. Anywhere from 1-4 km is a good range. Could be further.
@@CasmoTV wow, in DCS i just can hit at 200m or less with the Huey .
Well yeah DCS makes things harder lol
@@CasmoTV much harder i don’t know why.
@@CasmoTV any tip for that ?
In short, threat the damn thing like a fixed wing aircraft.
