  • The UCSF OBGYN Residency Class of 2018 was the first residency class in our department and the institution to be made up of individuals who hold racial/ethnic identities that are underrepresented in medicine. It is a powerful story especially at a predominantly white institution.
This class was incredibly special and powerful; they were forerunners for our more diverse workforce. Matching this class represented an inflection point for our training program and our department at large. This class came back to share what it meant to them to have an entire residency class of Black and Brown physicians, how it affected their experiences, and how it has shaped their post-residency trajectory and careers as physicians.
