I agree 100%. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think there's ever been any other culture when men have been scared shitless by being nude around other men or even just seeing another man's body without clothing. This started what.... about 30 years ago? I have a WTAF? and 'train wreck ' fascination with overnight societal shift. How did this happen and why? And how do we fix it? IMO, it's really unhealthy.
Totally agree. Back when I was kid, my gang of buddies and I were always skinny dipping, being naked or just in our undies together, sleeping over, being in group showers in PE and at the Boys Club, being intimate and physically affectionate with each other, etc and nobody thought anything of it. It was just what was DONE. Nowadays, I have seen grown men at my gym go into the toilet stall or shower stall to change clothes. Ridiculous. Many young men and boys today are seriously fucked up and I wonder how and why they've ended up this way and I am convinced that this societal shift to damn-near-hysteria about the naked male body has got to be one of the reasons. And yet, conversely, there has never been more male nudity, including full frontal nudity, in movies and TV shows. How does that fit it into these societal changes? And, as an American, I can tell you that you all you have to do is visit nearly any European country and you will find VERY different attitudes toward the body and nudity. They're one of the many reasons I hope to retire there.
@@gordon3186 Complaining is not what he is doing. He is simply observing that the change in attitude about being around other naked men is strange, and is hard to understand given the ubiquitous body exposure levels in the media, especially the internet, which seems simultaneously contradictory to that trend. Some young men have always been shy, reflecting some kind of insecurity about their body appearance; nothing new about that. They may think they are skinny, or physically immature, or poorly endowed, and that other boys may bully or make fun of them. Most mature men don’t care about such things beyond a certain age. But this relatively recent phenomena of what seems to be adult body insecurity, in the USA, is recent and puzzling, and not really that big a deal, just “strange”, since most of us older men grew up in a different culture.
Fascinating look through time. I kept thinking that some of them lived a full life & died before I was born. I wondered on each “what was his life like?” I also noted that there wasn’t a single overweight guy in the bunch. Sure some existed, but our processed food & lifestyles have led to a fat explosion.
How true is it, they say these photos are worth a thousand words, wish we could go back to these days, awesome work!!!! MORE Please, MORE!!!!! THANKS TO OUR SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN, 💪💪💪☺️🤠💪👍👋😁👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸
My happiest times were in all male company, as a Boy Scout, as a camp counselor, in an all male college. Honest, decent, male camaraderie, free of the games that crop up in coed groups. Good times. Gone forever. But I am glad I got to enjoy them.
Thank you for your collections .. they bring back fond memories of friends and tears of for those that have passed. The sound track is haunting and blends with the pics . Thank you again.
Sweat youth. The hour glass of time waits for no one. You know lifes work is the accumulation of memories, in the end, thats all we really have. That you for providing this old man with some solice.
Each time I thought I had picked a favorite, along came another one. There’s something about that pic of the guy being shaved - it’s both intimate and thoroughly masculine.
Comme ils étaient naturels et complices ! 😇🥰 Aujourd'hui on ne voit plus de photos comme cela.....tout est considéré comme choquant par la bien pensance 😢!
Until the end of WWII when the asininity of "religion" butted heads with the true nature of Americans [ _America lost_ ], exclusive male friendships such as shown in these great photos were not just palpable, *but actively encouraged* on not just a familial level, but also a national level. Great selection of memorable photos.
They were just like us . I loved them . And i will always remember them as i hope those whom descend from us remember our generation with such loving fondness . We do no credit to negate their sacrifice . " no greater sacrifice " , any veteran will tell you that ...
"So many ways to have good, clean fun. So many games to enjoy. No earthly reason why Jack should be that dull, dull boy." (Lyric from an old B'way musical about a preacher in Golden Age NY. "Tenderloin" was the title of the show.
The sad thing watching these is realizing how alienated we have become from each other; it used to be straight guys could physically lean into each other and onto each other, and be undressed around each other, and sleep in the same bed with the homosexual connotation or innuendo.
Sadly, the vast majority (if not all of them) of these men in their youth are no longer with us. I hope that the moments of spontaneity and happiness shown in the old photographs were numerous throughout their lives. Sad musical tracks. But it gave the presentation a sense of longing and desire for the simpler times when men could show affection towards one another without being branded. Feminism ruined all of that.
we should not judge photographs from 100 years ago through the lenses of our present prejudices. until the 1940's most Americans had no knowledge of the "homosexual" as a separate sexual identity. men were much more free to be silly with each other than in the rigid 1950's and even the 1960's.
Back when we were kids, guys used to swim naked together at the Y. Nobody cared. Now they won't even change clothes in the locker room. Silly.
Agreed, COMPLETELY!!!

@@GregginHOU --- Complaining that men are no longer naked around each other comes off as cringe. To each his own.
