Alou started 0 for 6, but on his 7th AB, he got the walk off hit. Impressive. Hes had many walk off hits already in 1996. John Franco got tossed from the game on John Franco Day at Shea, hahahahahahahahah. What a game
Re: Chicago Cubs @ New York Mets @ the Old Shea Stadium (4:32): Let’s just say that these two teams didn’t like each other on this day. Here are some timestamps: ⏺️ 4:33: It started with the Cubs’ Starting Pitcher Kevin Foster’s near brushback pitch (4:34); to the Mets’ Todd Hundley’s head in the bottom of the first inning. ⤵️ ⏺️ 4:39: Then, in the top of the second inning, a little payback to Mr. Foster from his counterpart, Mets’ Starting Pitcher Pete Harnisch (4:40). ⤵️ ⏺️ 4:47: So, in the bottom of the fifth inning & with the Mets down 6-3; it’s another payback tit for tat almost hit by pitch (4:48); from Cubs’ Reliever Terry Adams to who else? None other than Mr. Harnisch. ⤵️ ⏺️ 4:49: And, here come the warnings from the home plate umpire, Greg Bonin (4:50-4:51). But, it was too little, too late (4:52); and that includes the same for Cubs’ Manager Jim Riggleman (4:53). ⤵️ ⏺️ 4:54: Some trash talking from Mr. Harnisch to former teammate Scott Servais (Cubs’ Catcher ➡️ 4:55-4:56); and after that cheap shot (4:57-4:58); IT WAS ON!! ⤵️ ⏺️ 4:59: And, now we have a takedown (5:00); a dogpile (5:01-5:02); and an almost, “Donnybrook” (5:03); all in one here (5:04-5:05-5:06). YIKES!!…⤵️ ⏺️ 5:07: And, on, “John Franco Day”, of all days, guess who got tossed & got their money worth (5:08 ➡️ 😂🤣😂🤣); in the process? The Mets’ John Franco himself. He wanted a piece of someone from the Cubs’ side (5:09-5:10-5:11). ⤵️ ⏺️ 5:12: AND, HERE WE GO AGAIN, BECAUSE IT’S ON ONCE MORE!!: ⏯️ 5:13-5:14-5:15-5:16. ⤵️ ⏯️ 5:17-5:18-5:19-5:20. ⤵️ ⏯️ 5:21-5:22-5:23-5:24. ⤵️ ⏯️ 5:25-5:26-5:27-5:28. ⤵️ And, last, but not least: ⏯️ 5:29. Al Leiter was always so underrated. TO no-hit that tough Rockies offense.
I was waiting for this days highlight. On this day I was at the Mets/Cubs game and witnessed that huge brawl.
I attended my first Blue Jays Game ever on that day.
I was at the Twins-A's game that day on Charlie Finley Day.
I was at a friend's first communion party watching that brawl. Peace and violence all in one day.
Andrew Sheehy I was at the Dome that day. 500 level behind home plate.
