I just nailed a Bible college exam thanks to John Piper's grammatical tips on Hebrews 1:3... Of course, I could learn Ancient Greek, but it's all Greek to me :p
22:07 As much as I appreciate Johns preaching this is a crude misrepresentation of Descarte. He was distinguishing from what he believed to be true so that he could examine things and assess them without partiality. I think therefore I am is simply a matter of working outwards from minimal presuppositions to question the nature of reality. The thing is atheism can't ever really get you out of solipsism with any sort of consistent perspective; rather the modern atheist considers all things fallible or else doesn't think about it. You have to take reality on faith rather than a creator and even then it's a reality where you have no reason to assume there would anything resembling truth. Rene proposes God as the solution to this; a good God with integrity is the only way we could know that reality has the kind of universal consistency that is required for meaningful life and study where we can truly know anything further.
