Man I usually can't stand Country Music and I love almost every other single music style. However I love this little diddy. Its such a great song with an outstanding performance.
I hear you. But this ain't country music. This here is cowboy music.
I would put this in the style called Piedmont Blues. You may like some of this style from Keb Mo and Steve Earl (check out his Nashville Blues). Blind Boy Fuller, Willie McTell were big in the last century. Etta James played it on electric guitar. I would describe it as Country Blues crossed with a ragtime rythm. Most of the songs are story songs.
