Soft white wheat might give better results with the biscuits.

Yes mine too. I know the plastic isn’t good but seriously it keeps them so soft.

Avocado Oil is fantastic for frying. It gets to a high temperature point.

I found this info on the internet….here is why your biscuits are not as fluffy
Biscuits often don't rise as well with freshly milled flour compared to all-purpose flour because fresh milled flour typically has a higher moisture content and less developed gluten, which is crucial for structure and rise in baked goods; essentially, the fresh flour hasn't had time to "mature" and oxidize, leading to a weaker dough that doesn't hold its shape as well.

Thank you so much for the tortilla tutorial. I've tried to make them twice and both times I've found them so frustrating, now I know what I'm doing wrong. And on the fresh milled flour issue, I feel you. Made biscuits for Christmas morning and they turned out awful. Didn't rise, became one big biscuit in the skillet. I cried. I will keep on trying though. I had to walk back going strictly to fresh milled flour too because I just can't make some of the things work out.

It sounds like you and I are really on the same page with FMF. It is definitely a journey. It’s a worthy pursuit but it can be frustrating. I’ll keep working on recipes on my end so I can hopefully share and help others with it.

@faithandarrowhomestead I am determined to master that skill but I think it's going to take a lot longer than I thought it would.

I use soft white wheat for biscuits. I don't have any problem with them rising. I use an old Betty Crocker baking powder biscuit recipe. I just make sure the dough texture is right during the whole process. Let the dough sit for a few minutes before I shape & cut out.

I’ve had a few others say they use soft white wheat as well. I’m going to try that next time.

Great video as usual. *thought* what if you made your tortilla balls first and let them sit and then do your biscuits? Then all the dough gluten would have relaxed for your ideal thinness? I’m definitely going to try to make these tortillas. We have a different biscuit using self rise flour and heavy whipping cream and it’s easy so sticking w it… I’m a lazy chef haha! But they are delicious and do get quite large just not your delightful flaky layers… but good enough for us ol’ birds! Stay blessed and thanks for sharing! ❤

Problem with the biscuits is the flour ratios. It's 1 part fresh milled and 2 parts regular AP.

My daughter had a similar reaction to milk... maybe go without it for a week or two to see if THAT clears up your skin. Just a suggestion ❤

Thank you for the suggestion. If acne is a side effect of drinking milk, I accept the consequences. I LOVE milk.

@@faithandarrowhomestead Maybe consider a whole 30 diet and then after the time period you can slowly reintroduce foods one at a time and find the culprit. It’s interesting bc many people are slowly able to reintroduce the foods giving them reaction after some time. But in my opinion you are beautiful inside and out as you are. It’s the point of what makes you feel better (health wise). Some even do carnivore or ketovore for the same reasons and then slowly reintroduce. I watch your videos as often as possible! I love your content and I love that you love the Lord! 🙏♥️
