After 2 failed attempts 4THECRAFT is proud to present a KRAKEN DIORAMA night light/ lamp from epoxy resin and polymer clay. The lamp displays a KRAKEN Monster surfacing from the ocean to grab a sailing ship. The light shines from inside the mouth of the Kraken. I hope that you will enjoy this "how to make" video.
All the Best,

@@4THECRAFT,
I wished I could have shown you my miniature ship..I used hair for the rigging. Made one, smaller yet, using webbing from a spiders... (I do wish your rigging were proper done..anyone that sails knows). This piece otherwise is MOST EXQUISITE. Near museum quality. So glad I subscribed you, your talent is appreciated. Thank-you.
Everytime you see a part/section where you could have improved, you will then begin to see where you could have been even more detailed. With your patience and talent, you will surprise even yourself, and surpass your dreams if desired..to be sure.
the one time bubbles in resin is good
Thank you 👍
Completely agree with you.
Thought the same thing lol
Bro how come I see you everywhere
Aye!
THIS - this is what I like to see on RUclips - a skilled artisan producing a fantastic work of art!
Thank you 😀👍
WOW! The skill and patience needed for this does not go unnoticed. I’m subscribing right now.
I would accidentally burn my house down attempting to try this. Love your work. Great Job.
Thank you 😊👍
I would be the same I would burn the whole house
Well then you will burn you’re house Down no mather what you do
You are so right
No sailors were harmed during the making of this masterpiece.
Haha. Yes 😁👍
XD
But the RSPCA would like to contact the content creator about a report concerning dipping an endangered species in resin 😆

I admit to accidentally reading the title as “KAREN vs SHIP” lol.
But for real this is incredible! I absolutely love it.
Same jahahaha
Not same but still funny as hell
Like how there's such calming music for a ship being sunk
Love it!!
This is my favorite lamp/resin art you have made. It is so cool how the legs are through the water and the way it lights up is so complimentary. Love your work, please keep it up!

Am I the only one who came in thinking this was huge 😂 it looks great
Ya I was looking for tips on a deep resin pour. This was useless to me hehe
same.
I don't really have words for this. That's one of the most amazing things I ever seen
Thank you very much 😊😊😊
Love how you design the box that holds them to match your theme!!!!!
this is an crazy piece of art my dad would love this!
Absolutely beautiful piece. Love the added touch of “bubbles “ rising from the mouth of the kraken.
Thank you 😊👍

Thank you very much 😊👍👍
My grandson has been fascinated with octopus since he was 2. He’s five now and knows everything about them. He would love this.
Wow.... Amazing work.... It's unbelievable for how these technics work. And how '' easy'' or simple it is to build these little things
Many thanks 😊👍 I can assure you that it is not simple although it may seem like this.
I showed my mother this video. Her immediate reaction to the finished product:
"It's terrifying but beautiful."
😊😊 indeed
What I love about this is that it is totally handmade from scratch.
Well done, you are an artist!
Thank you very much for your kind words 😊👍

👏 bravo!! 👏
Many thanks 👍
This is probably your best piece yet - absolutely amazing, I love it 😎♠
Thank you👍👍
Ps: this means a lot coming from an expert like you. 😊
How you have only 20k sounds amazes me... this is fantastic. The air bubbles work great!
Thank you. This amazes me also 😁😁
Simply amazing, I have no doubt you could make tons of money if you sell your arts like that
I love these kind of videos and really enjoy watching the complex process in which the final product is formed
😊
Que linda obra de arte, maravilha e que satisfação em ver esse trabalho parabéns.😍😍😍
Thank you very much for your kind words 👍

Absolutely beautiful work.
Thank you 😊
Very nice! I like how the light shines up under the ship also love the epic purple colour of the ocean gives it more drama than if it were just blue.
Thank you. Yes the lighting turned out very beautiful 😊
Outstanding craftmanship!!! Bravo my friend,
I really like this piece. It’s beautiful and shows how powerful we can be. But at the same time... we need a bit of help. The ending is a beautiful ending to what seems like a disastrous event for a ship. In the ships case I feel bad but I mean hey, that’s our job! I appreciate the effort and time you put into this project and I hope you have more ideas like this in mind, mate. I love what you did with it. Stay awesome!
Thank you very much. 😊
Love this video you are an amazing artist and crafter!
Thank you very much 😊👍
I was waiting to spot a project that would push me into epoxy, this is it. Wicked work.
Many thanks and good luck with your projects.
Muito bem feita , isso realmente é uma coisa que faz agente ficar olhando por horas passa um filme na cabeça ! Parabéns belo trabalho !!
Thank you very much for your kind words 😊👍
That’s freaking skill! Amazing job 🥳😎
Thank you very much 😊
Such an amazing example of art. I wish I could have that. It reminds me of my favourite movies, (the original clash of the the titans) and (the odyssey) I would buy that great job
WOW! That is stunning! Just amazing work, that ship is so detailed. At first I couldn’t figure out why you were bothering with the pink resin inside the mouth, then you lit it up 🤯.
The contrast becomes eerie and integral, as opposed to just a slight detail.
The whole idea is wonderful.
Many thanks 😊👍
Beautiful soothing music and your project is incredibly amazing!
Thank you. I also love the music 😊😊😊
Name of the piano song?? :(
@@pelusita133 Check the video description :)
Splendid work, I can imagine the water being darker black or greenish yellow now that would be insanely terrifying. That aside you are incredibly resourceful I must say
And man that purple light in the blue resin is gorgeous
Omg that is so beautiful and so classy as well. Amazing work.
Thank you very much 😊😊
You don't know how much I love that this is not a click bait . Great work....😊😊👍👌
Thank you very much 😊👍
The amount of time and detail you put into your makes is truly incredible - major props for your dedication and care!
Al final, las burbujas le dan un toque especial
Indeed! Thank you :)
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
And wow! Did you succeed! Well done!
...
If no one else states it, I appreciate the level of detail you put in your Description as well.
Sir, you deserve my entire respect 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻nice work!!!
Thank you sir 😊👍
Release the Kraken!! (I don't know if somebody already said it, but I don't care, I ever wanted to say that in a logic context, lol). Awesome job.
Thank you 👍👍
Ya know I was almost about to complain about that pun but the slow piano music at the end made me change my mind. @4THECRAFT this project is Kraken approved. 100%
Шедевр!!!
Thank you 👍
TOTALLY WICKED...well done!! Simply amazing. debs from Texas
Thank you very much. Greetings to Texas😊👍👍👍
I absolutely cannot believe how cool this is
Many thanks 👍
Insanely wonderful!! I'd pay any amount...
Thank you very much 😊👍
What an awesome Fathers day present this would be if I was as good as you! Really amazing talent!
Thank you. 😊👍
Awesome sauce!!! I like that tiny vice you used...I need one! Absolutely great work! One thing I’ve learned when crafting is being patient. That’s the most difficult for me! Thank you for the video!
Thank you very much 👍👍
The light really emphasized the bubbles in the epoxy resin!
😊👍
Sooooo amaziiing !!! really like it and auto subscribe!
Thank you for your support 😊👍
Wow, just wooooow... As a kid, like 35 yrs ago, i've watched my grandpa making sailing ships in bottles... As to the rope ladders, he made a small wooden frame with nails around (like a simple loom frame), then used some sewing threads to make a grating, which got hardened with lacquer... In the end he cut some narrow triangles out of it... It's more work, but would look even better... He made the rigging out of threads as well...
Thanks and I agree with you. What I dont say in the video is that my initial plan was to cover the ship and craken with clear resin. That's how I have imagined the lamp. And that's why I have made the rope ladders like this. But at the end when I have put everything in place I changed my plan and decided not to put everything in clear resin 😊😊
@@4THECRAFT i think, it was the right decision... covering everything in resin would probably make the lamp look (and be) way too heavy...
@@Bl4ckSer4ph Exactly, Not to mention the risk of destroying everything in case the 2nd pour wasn't successful.
this truly does put a smile on my face
Many thanks 😊👍
What you make is ART!! Amazing
Thank you very much 😊😊
Que legal.
Many thanks 😊👍
Wow dude this is easily my favourite thing you have made

Очень красиво , молодец !!!
Opravdu překonavate tvořivost :O nádherná práce opravdu :) jste skvělý Váši práci sledují dlouho a hodně mně inspiruje :)
This is fantastic! There's only one thing I would do differently and it's really only a taste thing, I would have used a darker colored wood for the the box. Otherwise a perfect craft. Also, congratulations on not electrocuting yourself, I definitely would have.
Many thanks 😊
It looks nice! Some constructive criticism though:
I think that you could've saved yourself a lot of work and gone a lot more realistic if you bought a small ship model and modified it. You did a good job, don't get me wrong, but I think that a ship that had more finer details would have not only saved you work but also made the display all the more compelling.
For the ship sails, using paper is a good choice given the scale (cloth probably would've been too thick) but you can make the sales look more stable and look like they had wind at their back if you brushed a light layer of PVA glue on the paper. I used to use this technique to make flags on small models and it keeps them in the same position while also remaining flexible.
I would be cautious using the hot glue mold in the future with resin. Resin has a tendency to heat up a lot when drying and so at best (if it reheats the glue) you'll lose some detail and at worst, it melts the glue entirely and either leaks out or mixes with the glue.
In applying rough water, silicone looks great because it has the right effect, but silicone is also infamous for being non-adhesive. It can be liable to detach and not really stick to anything (it's why silicone is used for molds) so honestly the best way to get that same effect is with woodland scenics white water.
The kraken looks good, great idea on the suction cups but I question why there is a hole in the side of his mouth. Also I think an armature would've really helped solidify the clay and made the tenticales look more circular. I also think a yellowing of the teeth would've been a nice effect (I doubt he'd have pristine teeth after all he's eaten).
You might want to consider staining the wooden base to make it look more sea-like or beach-like.
Overall though really impressive work!
Thank you for all the suggestions and surely I will consider them. Please see my comments below:
1. You cannot imagine how many times I thought of buying something already made and save myself a lot of time and hard work (like others do in their channels). But at the end I always end up making everything from scratch because this is what i like to do more. I am a bit crazy what can I say? 😀
2. PVA glue on paper is a good idea although if you have noticed I have made the sails look inflated by air by making them a bit longer and then bending them to attach to the masts.
3. I have used silicone that is used for plumbing and which is really sticky and dries quickly. Thanks for the other suggestion I may try it in future projects.
4. What whole in the side of the krakens mouth? Or do you mean the wholes for the eyes? I have made holes for the eyes so that when the light is on you will see the krakens red angry eyes also light up.
5. Yellowing the teeth. You are correct. Funny enough this is how I have made the kraken's teeth in my first 2 attempts but forgot to paint the teeth yellow in my third & final attempt which is shown on the video.
Many thanks again
😀👍
@@4THECRAFT thank you for replying!
1.) I get what you mean, however when sculpting large models scaled down in polymer clay I've found that the natural "wooble" I guess you could call it makes it look less realistic but I see where you're coming from!
2.) You can still do that but the PVA glue (just a light layer so the paper soaks it in and so you can bend it into the shape you want before it dries) will help it keep its shape and give it more elasticity in case you move it or if over time things happen.
3.) No idea that such silicone existed so good on you for finding it! I'll have to check it out for myself!
4.) Oh I didn't know those were the kraken's eyes. Makes sense!
5.) Haha yea I've done similar stuff before.
Once again thanks for the reply!
That was beyond AWESOME!!🤘
Que agilidad con las manos ,es muy bueno el trabajo me encanta 👌👍
Can you do some star wars stuff with resin? Like the scene in rouge one, where the 2 star destroyers crush together?
Can you imagine being out with see your ship, and singing some stuff like this. Talk about underwear. You are an artist. Edited: instant subscribe with notifications

beautiful work. I've got a question : how much resin did you use to do a piece like this ?
I dont remember but I think approximately around 250gr. Thank you for your comment.
Lovely I can't comprehend. Amazing it is Bravo
Thank you 👍👍
I think I've said this to you before but you've managed to make the usually unwanted bubbles in the resin work A LOT in your favor, it does look a lot better with the bubbles.... Dude... The whole thing looks incredible! Congratulations!!!
Thank you very much 👍
Do you sell what you make?, because if you don't you definitely could/should!
If only you made this to match 'Sea of thieves' ship and Kraken. Still, very well done.
Thank you 😊👍sorry I haven't played this game.
@@4THECRAFT For not seeing the game you came very close to matching the ship. In the game you never see the Kraken below the water line so your model works better than if you copied the game. Anybody who has played Sea of Thieves would love this project, it turned out great!!

Kind of cool. It bugged me how you didn't smooth out the limbs where you attached them.
Zach Ryan yesssss omg thank u yessssss
Zach Ryan and also how he/she didn’t paint the box but ESPECIALLY how he/she didn’t blend or smooth out the limbs omg I thought I was the only one that noticed that lol
Because I didn't mind to leave them like this. But of course if one wants he can smooth the limbs. Thank you for your comment :)
I didnt paint the box because I like the contrast between the yellowish color of the box and the blue color of the sea. Thank you for your comment :)
