i have to say, that this knife as it is, is quite lame for me for same reasons. i don't understand how this, not cheap knife, could be so uncooked. everyone who tries this knife should have noticed that before it went for sale. it is shame that companies try to sell such shit. are they just stupid and lazy or calculative and rely that people buying a lot of stuff online?!
Karambit knives are not for everyone. Karambit knives are strictly self defense tools that are primarily ripping blades. Not nessessarily used for cutting tasks. The purpose is similar to push knives that are never used to spread mayonnaise on a sandwich. I'm surprised that these knives are legal in Europe. They are illegal in New York City. Push knives, double edged daggers, Karambits, gravity opening knives such balisong knives, spring assisted opening knives, automatic opening switchblades, are a felony in New York City. I was told these knives are also illegal in Canada. The Canadian Immagration people said this. One of the many reasons I don't go the Canada anymore. My confusion about laws of many countries that refuse to have Self Defence as a legal and accepted reason in criminal trial courts in case the victim is criminally charged with a felony for attempting to defend themselves from an attacker. Heard many of those baffoons in the United Nations say, "if violence is wrong, all violence is wrong." "Since self defense is a form of violence making self defense wrong." Does this mean if some criminal that is assaulting or killing you, that you must allow that criminal to to harm you? Are people expected to have the moral high ground all the while you, the victim, are fighting for your life in an intensive care unit of some hospital? Or as you lie in some grave yard? Liberal laws are wacky. I don't have much use for karambit knives. There is a knife called a Clinch Pick Knife. A small bladed knife that is carried in way that helps you escape from an attacker that has restrained your movements. Small enough not to arouse suspicion from law enforcement. Then again nothing beats my Kabar combat knife. Mine is stamped "US Army" with the classic leather sheath with the American eagle logo.
@@whomagoose6897 , the reason for the liberal laws in the western countries is because they are slowly being Conquered from the inside. I really enjoy the mechanics of anything.......knives, guns, carburetors, engines, etc. It's been that way with me since I was a child. When I was 8 years old my Dad had to go to a cattle sale with our cows he was selling. My mother went with him and I was left home alone with my younger brother. By the time he got home, I had pulled the motor out of our Maytag washing machine and had it halfway taken apart.....we didn't have electricity at the time. Boy, there was hell to pay when Dad got home! Would I do it again? You bet...in a minute! Your knife is extremely inventive!

I like the CRKT provoke but there are 2 things they could have done to make it way better #1 is made the blade about 1 & 1/4 inch longer , & #2 made it a double edge blade then it would have been bad asses . I know why they didn’t make the blade double edged , it’s because in some country’s it illegal to have a double edge korambit & that’s why I didn’t buy the provoke because of them 2 reasons .
Hi Joerg, great vid as usual. In English it is called an internal snap ring; they make a tool called internal snap ring pliers, that if used carefully should not damage the anodized finish. Keep up the great work, thanx Sam
Note from a pedantic: You can engage the lock and close it with only one hand, but it does require that you move the knife in your hand and then remove your index finger from the hole. Technically possible and acceptably practical, but certainly miles away from the beautiful simplicity of opening it. Grüsse aus der Schweiz, hopp weiter mit dem guten Werk!
Nice workmanship, looks OEM. But I believe his acquired technique solved the problem of closing it without modification? While most people don’t modify brand new $200 knifes, Jeorg is a R&D badass.
It's amazing how you are able to modify stuff. About the latch to hang the knife in the pocket, maybe you can make a small portable thing that can be attached to the inside of the pocket edge, which can hold the knife at the same time.
I've had a Provoke since they came out, and I LOVE mine. Something Jorge didn't cover is that if you carry it at the rear of a front pocket, with a minor amount of practice you can master opening it on the draw, as the back of the pivot catches on the seam. I personally carry mine in the "watch pocket" on the right side of my pants. It sits securely with the top 3rd or so of the loop exposed, which makes for rapid deployment. I bounce at a strip club, and this thing is just dandy. I've used the finger loop as a "brass knuckle" with it in the closed position probably 20 times, and it's handled it with no problems and works great just as a palm swell with a knuckle cover (think "roll of quarters"). That loop also makes for a great tool for pain compliance techniques- digging something hard into a tender spot like between ribs, behind the ear, ect works well. Lastly, you can't overlook how this thing can de-escalate a situation simply by existing in it. Flicking a kerambit open when a drunk comes at you with a beer bottle is intimidating, and this thing looks SCARY, and they tend to reconsider. There are two downsides, as far as I'm concerned- 1) the size in the pocket, and 2) how ill-suited it is for OTHER knife tasks besides self defense (and make no mistake, it kind of sucks for other things, compared to a regular knife) For me personally, I've mitigated both of those things- the first by using the watch pocket, which frees up the main front pocket, and the second by actually carrying a smaller, more traditional blade to use for most cutting tasks (which for me, lately, has been the CRKT Ruger LCK's, depending on my mood- one is completely black and has a wharncliffe/reverse tanto blade, and the other had a bright polish and is a drop point)
Joerg, to remove the snap ring/circlip without scratching the anodizing, make PVC snap ring plier tips. Or maybe brass is soft enough. That's another impressive modification, thanks for showing.
Jorge would you or have you ever made a stonebow from the medieval era.? I thought it would be interesting. Also wondered how lethal they might be? Kind regards
An easier, but less nice way of doing this is to remove the clip to gain access to the leaf spring, then rebend and reshape the spring to reduce the tension required to unlock the blade. It sounds like a bad idea (accidental closure) but the lock lever is in such a position there's next to no possibility of *accidentally* snagging it and closing the blade. This doesn't solve the ergonomics of the hard-edged, concealed lever, but it becomes possible/easier to close with one hand at least. Another thing i found useful to do while reshaping the spring is to increase the detent strength for opening, to prevent accidental openings. On my Provoke it was way too easy to open it. The original spring has 1 bend in it, i've reshaped it so it has the main bend, then a sort of S shaped serpentine curve at the end, so opening and closing has independent and opposite strength (harder to open, easier to close).

An easier, but less nice way of doing this is to remove the clip to gain access to the leaf spring, then rebend and reshape the spring to reduce the tension required to unlock the blade.
