Cinematic set building in a small photo studio

- Here's a BTS video of me putting up a cinematic style set in my small photography studio. In the photos these sets look complex, but you can get this look by setting up a careful composition (in this case dividing the scene into three sections) and using props/furniture/fabrics to create depth. You'll see a photo of the completed set at the end of the video, and a finished retouch from the shoot. The model in the image is Carla Monaco, and the music is from www.epidemicsound.com
Studio dimensions here are about 16x15ft and the ceilings are about 8.5ft high.

I have a small studio as well. I’ve learned so much from you regarding cart design that makes my studio not only appear larger. It looks so much more interesting. Thank you for your continued inspiration, David!
Just WOW

absoloutly amazing !!!! thank you !
Just stumbled upon your channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks Darren; my pleasure :-)
That's an awesome example what you can achieve in a small place! Mine is a bit smaller, 9 x 11 feet / 3 x 3,5 meters and my only real problem is storage space 😂
Thanks very much! Yeah, storage is a constant nightmare for those of us working in a small space :-D
@Heiko Kanzler, I have the same problem. Small space and not enought storage, I think it's a common problem for a lot of us :-)
@@DavidShoukry Totally agree! :-)
Been a big fan of your port on PP for a long time and Bruv just pointed out your RUclips to me. Keep it up.
Cotictimmy much appreciated, thank you 🙏🏼
I love this, amazing set ang layering of materials. Surprised that the color works in harmony!
Thank you so much!
Beautifully done
Thank you so much 😊
The great thing about us as artists is that before we ever take a picture of a subject is we create the art in our mind first and then we create it’s reality. We see the picture before we take it.
Fantastic! May I ask what material is the first backdrop you hang on the wall? I like it because there are no annoying creases. Thank you.
Great video, thank you 🙏
Great video! I want to get into doing some photoshoots with sets and this does help to see how is the process :)

Hello David, I just stumbled upon your work and channel. Great stuff! if you don't mind me asking, is that a vinyl floor you use for the flooring?
Hi William - yes, the wood-effect flooring is vinyl.
Love your sets. Is that floor a piece of lino? Thanx
Thank you. Yes, it’s Lino.
did you paint your backdrops?
They were made by www.handpaintedbackdrops.co.uk
Great video, could I please ask what dimensions is the linoleum floor? Thank you .
Hi and thank you! The lino floor is 3x2m.
@@DavidShoukry Thank you, and Merry Christmas.
Same to you 😊
@@DavidShoukry I have to say, this is one video I continually return to, I’m coming to the tail end of completing my Studio (a Studio is never wholly ever complete, lol) and this has certainly inspired me when I feel overwhelmed, grounded me when ideas started to resemble a runaway truck and simply calms me with the soundtrack. Thank you
🎉
That’s such a lovely thing to say, Richard: thank you! 🙌🏼
