You are a very clever chap. I hate working with fibreglass.
Always take precautions of health and safety .
    Great job

Persistence is probably the most important quality to have. Thanks for saying I'm clever! Working with fibreglass is not a carreer I'd chose. The last time I did any big grp repair was maybe 25 years ago. It does give an opportunity to get a boat at a big discount to normal price and also the satisfaction in fixing something. The hood I used, see last video, and the 3M gas/dust mask, the hazmat suit etc made it safe enough although a hot experience in the nice weather we recently had. 'My own personal sauna' another RUclipsr described those suits.

That was fascinating. What a fantastic job you are doing. It must give you a great deal of satisfaction.

All done now James, the next video shows everything being put back together. There's just the fitting of an autopilot, anchor windlass, new chain and the mast stepping and usual maintenance left to do. There will be a good long sail this summer to pay me back the time working on her.

Thanks James, I'm glad to be constructing now and past the demolition, the outside won't be too bad, I only have to cut down to a biscuit thickness, between Rich tea to Hobnob in places! Hope you get some sailing too and a video maybe.

@@mjcooke2sailingmostly the weather has been a bit frustrating of late, when ever I have a weekend free its blowing 20+ or raining, with the F3 & sun shining mon to friday! had a nice sail round Anglesey in early June, and I'm hoping for good weather end of next week as I have 4/5 days on the boat planned. I'll maybe do a bit of filming. Will you get any sailing this summer ?

Hi Simon, The worst work is behind me now. I'm refitting the interior now, just waiting for a dry few days to do the outside. The next video will show a big change. I hope you are getting some sailing in your new boat.

Thank you Jarle, I can see the end of it now. I'm already putting things together inside. It has some strength again.

You have done a really good job. I have used old windsurf mast to make limber holes before. I cut a piece to length then cut it in half and glass it to the hull. you can then build the bulkhead over the top.

I didn't use the hose in the end, just glassed over and re drilled every few layers. I thought the hose would get in the way when glassing. Drilling through the main rib was a bIt of a job. I will just gel or epoxy the inside to minimise water in the wood. I'm hope to have a dry hull as the mast conversion to deck stepped will minimise water in the bilge and I cured other leaks. Yes, a fibreglass tube ideal.
