I did that hike in 1979 , climbed down at nite and went thru an Indian Reservation were they were working on a cow hide early in the am. plus the native indians on horseback were patrolling the area. Back than that place was listed in the top 10 most beautiful spots in the world.

I see this is where you work off those Vegas buffets. 😂 You made the hike back up much more challenging and dangerous by doing it around noon - the hottest time of the day. Better to wait until late afternoon after the hottest part of the day.

This trip seemed to me to be somewhat dangerous. But if you liked the adventure you should consider a trip to upstate NY to tour Watkins Glen State Park and Letchworth State Park. You could fly into Rochester and rent a car. Stuart in Los Angeles.
