I have friends who worked on a massive suspension bridge, the largest in the world at the time. They dragged it out years longer than planned, on purpose, and it went tens of millions over budget. All completely purposeful. Every job they'd make as expensive as possible and run it as long over tone as possible. Because why would you ever want the infinite money to stop?! They redirected the money to friends as often as possible too. Need some electric cable? Buy it off a builders merchant operated by your friend who just so happens to charge 5x the going rate because "it's the best cable" etc. All backhanders and inside deals. Another example would be this - Recently two roads near to where I lived were resurfaced. The council road was the main road through town. Three weeks of night shifts and they managed to resurface less than half a kilometer. Three weeks! The other road is a service road for an oil refinery. Over a mile long, owned by the refinery. It was fully resurfaced *OVERNIGHT!* Literally over a single night. Incentives matter.

Secondly, if the site is government property, is it a Prohibited Place within the meaning of the Official Secrets Acts? I very much doubt it. Thirdly, can they stop DJE filming with a drone? As long as the drone does not present a hazard to cranes, I cannot really see why they barcode their boxers every time a drone appears. Lastly, is the guy who asked DJE to give him the drone a plank? He certainly made himself look a total plank by doing so. In fact, his actions might warrant asking DJE to present him with a PLANK OF THE WEEK t-shirt.
I couldn’t agree more, and it was obvious from the start that the HS2 cost would go billions over budget, and just to get a train from London to Birmingham 15 minutes faster that will no doubt cost a lot more per ticket than the existing train.
Just remember, there is always a chance of prop failure or bird strike which has a very small chance of happening. But if it does, it will fall. So a non-zero chance of failure.
Back in the summer a guy was flying a drone,think it was a mini 2,over Hilsea creek filming a historic train coming over the railway bridge and it overheated and fell into the water.

HS2 is there to increase capacity, they literally cannot run any more trains per hour on the west coast mainline. HS2 is supposed to alleviate the congestion, allow more freight trains to help the road network etc. The points about the damage/costs are very valid, but it makes more sense if you look why HS2 is actually being built.

I am just reading up on HS2. It is silly that they cancelled a lot of it. Was supposed to have connections from London all the way to Manchester Leeds to London. Maybe down the road they will built these connections

I am just reading up on HS2. It is silly that they cancelled a lot of it. Was supposed to have connections from London all the way to Manchester Leeds to London. Maybe down the road they will built these connections

When the London and North Western Railway's Birmingham New Street was opened in 1854 passenger traffic moved thereto. Curzon Street was retained and became a purely goods station in 1860. For two decades (1874-1893) it was used for public holiday excursion traffic.
Curzon Street Goods was closed by BR in 1966, the entrance building being the only surviving part thereof.

Amazing how these massive companies like Vinci are happy to take tax money but don’t want general public to see what’s going on! I get most of these are employees clueless to the law and act like they’re the CEO of these companies but they’re told to stop photography,new Everton stadium has signs outside saying no pictures for social media! All these hs2 employees are on over £20 per hour and contractors are paying their employees £28-£32 an hour,I know as I work in construction and know what jobs to search for
Now we can see why it was not completely cancelled after all of the work been done on it and the cost of it
already and the contracts on it to supply the materials and the jobs involved and the earnings that workers are making.
