- Steve Dee congratulates Q-Bert, sets up his tables with help from Exotic E (RIP), wrecks shop for six minutes, and then gives way to defending champion Baby G in this extended view of his revolutionary set at the 1991 DMC US Finals, Riviera, Chicago. Amazingly, Steve did not finish in the top 3 in this battle.
He was so far ahead of his time that the judges couldn't understand what he was doing!!!!!!
FACTS!!
It’s hard to judge people more skilled than you lol.
love how he takes off a superman shirt, revealing another superman shirt underneath lmao
hahahah... I thought the same.
way ahead of his time, great dj
Exactly, his beat juggles were new at the time and they went over the judges heads. If he did this same routine 2 years later he wins the DMC World Title.
You can see how he pioneered the x-man style and how huge he influenced Rob, Raida, Sinista, and Diamond J.
no question
My favorite juggle starts at 5:46!!! Ain't no way that the crowd can sit down!!!! Dope as hell!!!!!!✊️✊️✊️
most djs today still cant do this
Did people even understand what they were seeing? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🏾👊🏾
by far the best best juggling i’ve ever seen ever !!!! and it’s scary clean and it’s beyond unreal how that man can do this shit !!! like how
Pioneer and technical wizard.
No lies told.
So many future routines have been stolen from Steve. All the well known DJ's today (you know who you are), are still incorporating his tricks in the their routines.
All with the decks in standard/club layout 😳
He introduced beat jugs to the DMC here. His crew the X-Men took it to another level as we know it now.
He does something that would work in 2020!!!
yeah! they do some same thing like Steve Dee
@@TGManagementCo 8:23 his drumming has a whip to it, this left me confused to why the X men didn't use that technique against the Piklz in 96, drumming with 1 turntable was an edge ISP had over X-Men during that battle, and Here's Steve doing it years earlier.
Only in competitions
7:09 This juggle never gets old!!!
Just out of curiosity, who else adopted superhero emblems?
I’ve got:
xmen - executioners
Green lantern: beat junkies
dont forget....Supermen INC - Clark Kent, Scratch , Richie Rich, Muggs, Aladdin, Plaztikman
@@waxjuggler8945 Exactly! The Supermen Deejays are what inspired the X-Men! So, Steve’s shirt is quite ironic lol.
No hesitation coming on after DJ Qbert. That's confidence backed by experience. Steve D. is NICE.
I made it to the 2nd round eastcoast the next year with Rocraider Johnny Cash, Rob Swift & Joey Sinister
this must be you! ruclips.net/video/iXbP46ZH_3c/видео.html
wow, thank you for this.... I love watching legendary battle performances.
Jesus Christ so many innovative patterns in this one set. absolutely legendary.
Nice when he gets focused but like most East Coast Cats they need to be loud and clowny. yeah I said it. you've seen it too. Talk on the mic the whole time.
Way ahead of the gimmicks and tricks at the time. Guy is tight. Sinista looks like he learned from him and took it further.
He did
World champion 1991, if you ask me
it's hard to say q-bert didn't deserve to win this battle though
Crazy underrated set. Would’ve loved to have seen a bit more of his transforming and drumming at the very end. Shit was ill.
Ok I’ve been seeing thousands of comments about this and I want to get this straight, so Steve Dee already had beat juggling mastered in “1987” and he entered a heat battle for that year in the DMC, then when he showed these patterns the judges didn’t know what it was at the time, he was apparently “robbed” that year and that’s when he first competed, can someone please confirm this?
Is this THE Disk? From ISP?
ahead of its time, respect
is Baby G defending this year?by the way Steve Dee is so funky, so Dope
yeah he defended and actually had a better set than in 90
Thank you
Love the vid but also the description.
Superb skills.
My good friend Michael shum comes good again abc uk
LEGEND!!! 💯💯💯
R.I.P. Stezo. There’s no way that the crowd can sit down.
Wow. I didn't know that he passed away. R I.P. to a str8 up DJ legend.....😔😔
@@briandowdelljr8974 you’ve been gone for a number of years. I had the same reaction as you. I found out way after the fact too. He passed in April 2020.

3:01 this routine caused me to like Steve dee too much to where I would try and learn those juggles for fun 😂
Song name please?
@@Rumbousbomb I know you got soul by rakim, it’s pitched up high though.
Tell me about it. Q-Bert gave me a videotape of this battle after he got back from England, and I spent day after day reverse engineering everything Steve did in that set.
@@GregoryGioia cool shit 👍 😎
were you ever able to replicate it?
my dad use to play this cut all the time 4:39.i can't remember the name @ michael shum thanks for the flashbacks

Can we get a shout out one time for the Boogie Boys?
