  • Removing two maple tree stumps with the Werk Brau ripper and grading rake. This is at a customers house I use to mow, he had two trees cut down in his front yard and now wants the stumps and roots dug out to hopefully finally be able to have grass in this area. They came out fairly easy but one of them was right on top of the irrigation line, so I spent part of my day finding the other end of that and repairing. I was doing this job for my dad's company so he brought the dump trailer out to load the stumps in. I'm definitely loving this rake for cleaning up roots and brush. It seems to do a great job of getting the roots and less dirt even though it looks like I got a ton of dirt here lol. Now its ready for some dirt then sod. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #WerkBrau

    Those rippers work so well for this and frost. It amazes me the number of guys who think they are saving money by not buying one. Then they proceed to tear their machine apart trying to yank stumps.

    Maple roots are bad enough in the woods but when they grow in a yard that gets mowed and sprinkled they never do bury. They just lie on the surface and suck water like a straw!
    Those stumps were all that the Koochie wanted. Weren’t they?
    When I was 14 I started yard working after school and weekends at one of those Victorian Mansions here in town. The sprinkler system had been put in about the time I was born... the owner didn’t have a sketch of the layout. But, he believed he had a photographic memory of where every valve and line lay.
    My opinion was that his photograph had blurred. Because every time he told us to dig... the trench was off at least a foot. We always turned the sod over to be put back on top when finished, as he insisted the grass be seamless when finished. You can imagine how much of a pain it was to keep moving the sod over to find the pipe..
    One day I suggested that we dig perpendicular to the line. Then turn once we located it. He thought I was a pretty smart kid. I never told him I was just lazy!
    You did show MrsE just how handy the rake and ripper were on this job. Didn’t you? The ROI for them should be above 100% for this year... and that means... capital availability for next year!!!

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  3 года назад +1

      It seemed to handle them just fine, it probably would have picked up a little more. Not sure how I missed this comment the first time. Yeah sprinklers are a pain especially trying to find ends of a system you did not put in. Yes you are correct they have more than paid for themselves. Appreciate you watching

      Maples and pecan trees tend to have a root system that runs very shallow and sometimes on top of the ground. Makes cutting the grass a sometimes expensive job when the mower finds one. Catching one with a foot makes for an uncomfortable landing.
