@@CombatMagic I can't really grasp that idea, I played a few real scale mods, most notably the heart of the swarm one. That mod did an amazing job at making you feel like an endless swarm. Sure they can't give you billions of zerg, but they got as close as possible without bricking your computer as soon as you pressed play
I always like to think a single unit in any rts represents a battalion of them. Like ur fighting for an entire planet right, one unit represents thousands and thousands of units.
Smaller units I usually go based off their health that's how many units it counts as but vehicles I go usually about every 10 or so health depending on the game but I feel it I do the same thing @@Alex-d3l9b
Depends on the RTS I suppose, but nah, normally the map doesn't represent a whole planet. Just like I dno a city, small map size might be a smaller city and a larger map be like a Metropolis.

Maybe in the scenario they're using rockets and the game only shows the default rifle fire, because the devs were too lazy to make weapon swapping visuals?!?

All of SC1/BW protos tech was some kind of repurposed or retrofitted civilian equipment (except archons I guess... but they're kind of a special case in the lore)
That is a fantastic concept for an RTS, where the size of Tier 2 and then Tier 3 units scale up in size dramatically. The Tier 3 units would essentially ignore the Tier 1 because they have bigger fish to fry, and vice versa because without significant numbers they wouldn't make a dent. Is there already a game like this?
i have always assumed that their is a sort of internal scale for the various troops. Example: 1 carrier is literally 1 carrier while 1 viking is actually 6 or so.
If it was lore wise zerg gonna have 80 hydra before collosus even out at field and zerg can just hit their production instead fighting head on what can 2 collosus fight against split up army of zerg

I have only been playing for 3 years but I have thought that from day 1. We can just assume that the legs on these things are at least a meter thick so that even a tank wouldn't do any damage.
so for balance in the next patch they should make it lore sized. maybe then there will be a protoss GSL winner for the first time in years. sad that on the whole council theres only one protoss player and the rest are zerg and terran. really shows in the latest patches. sad sad days
Protoss Collossus is one of their true warmachines. They first use it in the Kalath Intercession where they intervene on the civil war. The machines were so effective that it reduced the Kalathi back to the stone age. The results was so appalling to the Protoss that they changed their foreign policy concerning interacting technologically less advanced races.
IDC much about lore so I choose to believe that Starcraft units represent a group of whatever they are. So a unit of marines is like ten of them while a battlecruiser is just one. It would explain why you only need six marine units to blow up a capital ship. That'd be a whole ass 60 gauss rifles unloading into the hull!
If all unit where accurately lore sized this game will be something when you know a giant mech can at least kill a lot of army alone or event the space ship , me thinks how a Thor will look like if lore size ( power out put will be way too stronge for simple unit )

А теперь представь гидралиска, который максимум 4 метра в высоту. По факту даже несколько сотен гидралисков ничего не сделают колоссу - они просто не смогут повредить ни его броню, ни пробить щиты своими иглами, в то же время колосс с одного залпа термальных лучей способен сжечь целую колонию зергов. По факту колосс очень силен, наверное это самый сильный наземный юнит, возможно, разве что, уступающий гигантским видам ультралиска (например омегалиску, который по размерам больше Годзиллы будет) и Одину, и то не факт. Просто в угоду баланса его сильно занизили. И это не единственный пример, крупные корабли терранов и протоссов, по типу батлов или кериаров, вообще исчисляются километрами длины - дай им оригинальный размер, и они просто не поместятся на карте)
Tbf 80 hydras in the case of the regular game is probably 800 at least in lore while the collosus equates to 1 collosus.
