The power of all the ground infantry are scaled up for gameplay. What can a few dragoons do to a science vessel in lore? They would get squashed if the science vessel landed on them. And the maintenance crew on the vessel alone could probably overpower the dragoons with their number.
SC must be a really scary universe to live in. No wonder marines were freaking out and shaking during the SC Broodwar cutscene. What's crazy is they were just facing zerglings.

I remember there was a mission in broodwar where you go inside a sci vessel so a knew they were big.. but a din't expect that they were bigger than battlecruisers
Well considering the Amerigo, a science vessel that was destroyed and had a mission take place in it, is shown in a cinematic to be incredibly large, it kind of makes sense. You should look up: Battle on the Amerigo, to check it, it's a great cinematic.
@@unchips To be fair, Science Vessels are bigger than Minotaur-Class Battlecruisers, which are more modern, but smaller Battlecruisers while the older Behemoth-Class Battlecruisers are bigger than a Science Vessel.
Imagine a VR-supported Battlefield-type game based on Starcraft universe. You walk out a Barrack as a newly trained Marine, see the sky turns red and purple with the Swarm, Terran and Zerg alike dying everywhere around you. The spear of Adun is actually insane... Only 3 of these Ships existed and 2 have been lost. Yet in the Campaign the power of the ship has been constantly downplayed... :D
I wouldnt say the ship's power was downplayed. This ship was generally in orbit of whatever battlefield you were undertaking, not only providing support abilities for you as the battlefield commander, but most likely keeping a massive enemy support fleet from engaging your battlefield. It has been stated on multiple levels during the campaign that the Spirit of Adun is under attack, and while sure, its huge, it doesnt mean it is perfectly defended at every part.
I don't know what you are talking about, solar ray can melt basically any unit in the game once per minute for just a few energy and it can rain a super melting uber ray or cause orbital bombardment.

In my perspective, game unit is just a representation of the real unit in the game lore. Such as one marine in game is equal to a squad or a company of marines in game lore

I think lore wise, drones are fully capable of killing marines, as are all those other big monsters that in normal gameplay are helpless. I can imagine a swarm host crushing a marine, a lurker attacking without being burrowed, even the defiler looks intimidating from up close.
Yes if the marine didn't shoot them first. Keep in mind that gauss rifle that marine fire is our equivalent of AA gun, compactified. You know, the one where we joke how a commander is asking the gunner about a certain direction and telling them they want to delete it. The power armor is there not to give protection for the person inside but so that marine can actually shoot the damn gun without being blown away. Essentially a single marine a mobile battery.
@@nurrohmatadiputra5378 Just because they have a big gun compared to modern weaponry, does not mean it would have the same effect against futuristic like targets. Also while it maybe could pierce todays main battle tank armor, does not mean it would do jack shit against a futuristic tank.
@@davidgruzin8269 yes and how much damage do you think the gauss rifle did to, say siege tank? My point is, just because the zerg are scary by our standard doesn't mean it is by terran standard. Marine may had weapon similar in size to our own but it is vastly more powerful and while it isn't enough to deal against zerg 1 on 1, enough marines would guarantee they would fell anything they shoot at eventually. I never said marines would 1 hit knock out anything, I am just saying that their gun is much more powerful than we expected them to be from it's size.

You are considering the zerg some large animals, and forget that they have armor of their own. Terran gauss riffle would do minimal damage to the siege tank or the ultralisk if they get lucky. It wouldnt do anything against bigger targets. It would be like shooting 9mm at level 3 steel plate.

Clearly marines gun CAN penetrate through zerg armor (ultralisk and brutalisk take little damage is an exception), as otherwise the terran would be overrun by the zerg as marines are the bread and butter of the terrans army. Have you played helldivers? It's similar to that, your gun doesn't deal enough damage to bring down the bug on a single shot, requiring continous fire in their less armored part. And you need heavy ordnances to clear up mass bugs infestation. But your helldiver is equipped with powerful enough gun to challenge the bug. Same thing with marines. My refutation toward the original comment isn't that drones and swarm host couldn't defeat marines thanks to their size but that Marines will bring them down first because drones and swarm host aren't equipped for direct combat. Yes their carapace would deflect some of the initial blows but eventually it will give in, leaving soft flesh in the mercy of an AA-gun (or are you gonna argue that zerg flesh is tougher than today tank? Obviously not right?). Zergling are fast and armored so they can quickly rush through the fire despite casualties, Ultralisk had thick armor that it can push through the fire but drones, lurker, and defiler are neither fast like a zergling nor as armored as ultralisk (swarm host however does look like it would had a thick carapace). Sure if they get close they may defeat marines without relying on their usual tactics (locust, burrow first, parasitic excretion), but that's suboptimal at best. And besides zerg is a large animal. Do you think deer, tigers or elephant had no armor to speak of? Yes it is inferior to zerg carapace even if we take account of our respective gun strength but the same argument apply. Marines simply had strong enough gun to break through zerg carapace (with exception).
Thanks for the video. It was pretty interesting to get this information. It was many surprises to me, how many units are actually much bigger than in the game, and how small units, such as marines, without the problems crashes some kilometres of toss air army ;D
@@MrHaLvlsS well void rays are basically giant lazer cutters, so they are designed to melt through armor of targets with thiccc metal armor. But if the game were to be realistic, terrans would win every game with worker rush, because 1 SCV can crush a probe in only 1 claw or pin a drone to the ground and drill its head in, so I wouldn't complain about not being realistic if I were you.

I remember that from a official source, the battle cruiser that we build in games are actually a version specifically designed for close surface tactical air support, like a scaled downed version of the big ones, hosting 6 pilots only. Like an AC130 gun boat.
Forgot the Gorgon-class battlecruiser, should be inbetween mothership and leviathan I think (unless maybe you were only doing units in compeditive SC1 and SC2?), other than that great list I love it :D

According to different sources the gorgon class is bigger than all other classes, except some super bcs, but then it's just 560meters in others, while the Bucephalos is both a super minotaur and a gorgon. The white star is the biggest terran ship and a Super Gorgon.

@@davidevans7477 amon was just a projection in the Void. That wasnt his actual body. The Xel Naga Corpses on ulnar are roughly 100x the size of Artanis so i would say they are around 200m Big

Curious to know the scale of liberators, valkyries(sc1), hybrid units(all), and more importantly, the buildings. If a carrier is that big, then how big is a stargate?
I saw an artwork of unit size comparisons that is endorsed by Blizard that explains the first two and they are reasonably big. We know in one cinematic that a hybrid reaver is at least two Artanis's tall, and he is rather tall by himself making the reaver tower against a human. The others though are still up for debate, but I'm sure that the Behemoth dwarves the rest. And for the staregates, we see them briefly in the end cinematic of LoTV and that they're still clearly visible even when high in the air and sending in carriers showing that even the stargates are huge. Starcraft would be a terrifying universe to live in.
The Zerg air units must be pretty freaky if we ever see them in our skies. That would be something directly out of The Mist. Actually, all of the Zerg units, not just the air ones.
Just about right. The spear of adun is supposed to able to hold enough Protoss to keep the species alive on the ship alone. In the event of Zerg takeover they would fly the ship into deep space and try and live out their lives as the only remaining life.

am i the only one who miss the old SC1 vehicles like the Goliaths, , Vipers, and Wraiths as well as the bigger class of Cruisers? not allowing us to use them in any multi mode of SC2 was a big crime! a big finger to us! otherwise , very interesting how the sizes of these units make the things different, when we think about this universe
I noticed some discrepancies with the size of the same units between SC2 and 1. Here the scourge is basically human sized but in SC1's cinematics you can see them attack a battle cruiser and they are much much bigger there. Same for the zerglings, here they are dog sized but in SC1's cinematic they're twice as big. But SC1's cinematic are off on a few things compared to the game itself, like how the hydralisk walk using their arms or how zerglings have hydralisk heads.

@@nurrohmatadiputra5378 and zerg carapace can be tougher then our current steel used for tanks, do you understand now? You are considering the zerg some large animals, and forget that they have armor of their own. Terran gauss riffle would do minimal damage to the siege tank or the ultralisk if they get lucky. It wouldnt do anything against bigger targets. It would be like shooting 9mm at level 3 steel plate.

Clearly marines gun CAN penetrate through zerg armor (ultralisk and brutalisk take little damage is an exception), as otherwise the terran would be overrun by the zerg as marines are the bread and butter of the terrans army.
Have you played helldivers? It's similar to that, your gun doesn't deal enough damage to bring down the bug on a single shot, requiring continous fire in their less armored part. And you need heavy ordnances to clear up mass bugs infestation. But your helldiver is equipped with powerful enough gun to challenge the bug. Same thing with marines.
My refutation toward the original comment isn't that drones and swarm host couldn't defeat marines thanks to their size but that Marines will bring them down first because drones and swarm host aren't equipped for direct combat. Yes their carapace would deflect some of the initial blows but eventually it will give in, leaving soft flesh in the mercy of an AA-gun (or are you gonna argue that zerg flesh is tougher than today tank? Obviously not right?). Zergling are fast and armored so they can quickly rush through the fire despite casualties, Ultralisk had thick armor that it can push through the fire but drones, lurker, and defiler are neither fast like a zergling nor as armored as ultralisk (swarm host however does look like it would had a thick carapace). Sure if they get close they may defeat marines without relying on their usual tactics (locust, burrow first, parasitic excretion), but that's suboptimal at best.
And besides zerg is a large animal. Do you think deer, tigers or elephant had no armor to speak of? Yes it is inferior to zerg carapace even if we take account of our respective gun strength but the same argument apply. Marines simply had strong enough gun to break through zerg carapace (with exception).

@@MrHaLvlsS well void rays are basically giant lazer cutters, so they are designed to melt through armor of targets with thiccc metal armor. But if the game were to be realistic, terrans would win every game with worker rush, because 1 SCV can crush a probe in only 1 claw or pin a drone to the ground and drill its head in, so I wouldn't complain about not being realistic if I were you.
That Leviathan could eat a carrier for breakfast...

Starcraft wiki says thay're 560 meters long, so they're actually smaller than the Minotaur class

According to different sources the gorgon class is bigger than all other classes, except some super bcs, but then it's just 560meters in others, while the Bucephalos is both a super minotaur and a gorgon.
The white star is the biggest terran ship and a Super Gorgon.

@@davidevans7477 amon was just a projection in the Void. That wasnt his actual body. The Xel Naga Corpses on ulnar are roughly 100x the size of Artanis so i would say they are around 200m Big

Curious to know the scale of liberators, valkyries(sc1), hybrid units(all), and more importantly, the buildings. If a carrier is that big, then how big is a stargate?
I saw an artwork of unit size comparisons that is endorsed by Blizard that explains the first two and they are reasonably big.
We know in one cinematic that a hybrid reaver is at least two Artanis's tall, and he is rather tall by himself making the reaver tower against a human. The others though are still up for debate, but I'm sure that the Behemoth dwarves the rest.
And for the staregates, we see them briefly in the end cinematic of LoTV and that they're still clearly visible even when high in the air and sending in carriers showing that even the stargates are huge.
Starcraft would be a terrifying universe to live in.

Just about right. The spear of adun is supposed to able to hold enough Protoss to keep the species alive on the ship alone. In the event of Zerg takeover they would fly the ship into deep space and try and live out their lives as the only remaining life.

am i the only one who miss the old SC1 vehicles like the Goliaths, , Vipers, and Wraiths as well as the bigger class of Cruisers? not allowing us to use them in any multi mode of SC2 was a big crime! a big finger to us! otherwise , very interesting how the sizes of these units make the things different, when we think about this universe

I noticed some discrepancies with the size of the same units between SC2 and 1. Here the scourge is basically human sized but in SC1's cinematics you can see them attack a battle cruiser and they are much much bigger there.
Same for the zerglings, here they are dog sized but in SC1's cinematic they're twice as big. But SC1's cinematic are off on a few things compared to the game itself, like how the hydralisk walk using their arms or how zerglings have hydralisk heads.
Zerg has never looked so scary

The Mariana Trench is 11km deep
They also could've built a very high city around it so maybe only had to dig half that length
