Trucker, having committed to just "eff it" and driving over the bollards, is busy looking elsewhere and doesn't notice the Fusion. Or does and intentionally causes contact due to frustation? IDK
Right or not, that setup is designed to tell 18-wheelers they're not allowed to use that on-ramp. The trucker says "I'll do it my way" and the car says "I'll do it my way in reverse." Chaos ensues for everybody.
The truck is a car hauler. They will often deliver to dealerships in neighborhoods where trucks simply should not be. It's the trucker's job to figure out how to overcome the challenges created. I have personally done maneuvers like what the truck driver is doing because there just aren't any other options. Traffic planners do things like that to control traffic for whatever reason without thinking about how a truck is going to squeeze through. (VERY common problem all over the country.) The Fusion likely got tired of sitting behind the duck while it was trying to make the turn safely and chose to go around and back up ty the ramp. The truck driver was likely watching all his mirrors for someone to be stupid, without watching for someone to back into him. The truck stopped just before impact, which is when the trucker likely first saw the danger. Too little too late.

1:47 White car crossed the double yellow lines to pass and the truck pulled out for a blind turn so they will split fault 50/50 for the accident. Last video: That car gives off insurance scam vibes but perhaps they missed the exit due to the trucks erratic lane changes. Even if it is frustration at being forced to miss the exit they never should have reversed in an active lane of traffic and at that rate of speed. That exit can't be rated for semi use if it is impossible for an 18 wheeler to turn into it without blocking multiple lanes of traffic to make the turn or without taking out all of the lane dividers. Might be time for your company to brush up on your CDL requirements!
@@jorgejiminez-rk1uuIf your talking about the one that started at 9:38 then yes, but the one that ended at that time both didn't need the extra clearance and wasn't in a turn lane. The one starting at 9:38 starts in the turn lane, waits for traffic to clear, then swings out wide before making the turn, thus preventing any other vehicles from trying to ride up inside their turn.
The description is a total mess. I'm guessing they jumped into the left turn lane at some point by using the straight lane to bypass other cars and crossed the solids.
That turn pocket is 100 m long. If the line of cars approaching the lights to go straight extended back 150 m or more, the offending car may have used the previous left-turn pocket and the oncoming left-turn pocket to overtake them. That would be consistent with what the caption says.
It's possible there was a 2 way left turn lane in the middle of the road and they used it as a driving lane to get to the left turn lane for the intersection . The description says they used it to "jump a long line of traffic to the intersection".
If you're paying attention, you absolutely feel the trailer lifting. It's a strange sensation. That said, the key words there are "if you're paying attention." We can see in these videos just how well drivers of all types seem to pay attention. Also, if you DO notice the problem happening, the next huge key is knowing how to correct it without making it worse. By the time the brain realizes what's happening, formulates corrective action, and actually puts the plan in motion, it's likely too late. You're just hyper aware that you're rolling the truck.
1:42 It's BOTH their fault. The car illegally passing is kind of obvious, but the person turning left is also at fault. If you can't see, you can't turn/go. Do you tie on a blindfold over your eyes just before or after you put your car into gear? No, you don't. You need to see where you are going. The same principle applies here. What if an emergency vehicle was the one going around the cammer on the left? It's both their fault. 2:35 The law is WAY too lenient on drivers who are playing with their phone. People, you don't have time to mess with that phone while you are moving. You can end someone's life, or multiple lives, with your vehicle. AUTOMOBILES ARE MORE DEADLY THAN BULLETS...FACT. 9:22 That "HIRING" lettering on the side of the truck (above the sleeper cab window). Hmm, I wonder why they are hiring?
With regards to your second point: It has been shown by multiple studies from around the world (involving both testing people in driving simulators and collating accident records) that people using their phone whilst driving are significantly more likely to be involved in a serious accident than those driving drunk are (because whilst the people driving drunk might be impaired they, unlike the people on their phone, spend most of their time looking at the road ahead), yet the laws on using a phone whilst driving are much more lenient than those for driving drunk are. What are the odds that phone manufacturers spend more money on lobbying government than booze manufacturers do?
@@Harvick29ism Yeah they do, but people have these things in their cars called radios that can be LOUDER than those sirens. I personally witnessed this happen. It was NOT my car/radio. It was someone else that I was following to a job. The ambulance was trying to go around them, and they was driving a box truck blasting metal inside the cab. Drivers can easily drown out the sound of any siren. That doesn't mean they should, but they do it anyway. So your "siren" retort is moot.
@@martindixon54 It's a matter of time before some senator, judge, someone in power, or one of their family members get "unalived" by an irresponsible driver playing with their phone. THEN something will actually happen.
The truck turning left didn't need to look left because the only traffic legally coming from the left was stopped. 100% fault of the white car for illegally passing and driving in the median / wrong side of the road. An emergency vehicle would've had sirens blaring if it had to perform the same maneuver. They use sirens *precisely because* they sometimes have to drive in places where other drivers normally would not look nor expect oncoming traffic. As for the radio argument, if you miss an emergency vehicle's sirens because your radio is too loud, then it becomes your fault. The fact that *other people* might crank up their volume high enough to drown out sirens, does not necessitate that everyone else has to drive expecting cars to be coming from unexpected places. That would triple or quadruple the workload on every driver, leading to more accidents instead of fewer. The entire point of having rules of the road is to make traffic predictable, so the workload on drivers is reduced thereby increasing the chances that they'll be able to see and avoid danger.
#14 4:17 Will never understand the mindset that thinks it's OK to come to a near stop on a highway just to make an exit or change lanes. Those people are reckless, dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed on highways.

Talking and texting while driving is never going to stop. There are people out there that think that it won’t happen to them and those are the people that get into accidents while talking on the phone and texting. And yet it still goes on……
Yes, it’s easier to let someone in front of you ease in than to deal with an accident but what about proving your point that you’re right by not letting them ease in. What if they do this all the time?
10:04 - And if the car driver didn't have insurance, I'd sue the city for being so dumb. My case would probably be thrown out due to Absolute Immunity, but I'd let the mayor and city council get an earful.
Just a few things I've observed: Yellow lights are too short. It should flash or something to warn you when it's fixing to turn red. Green lights are also too short. Red lights are too long. Speed limits are too low. Municipalities deliberately set up traps for people who are unfamiliar with the area. (Those ridiculous pylons at that exit ramp, for example.) Most traffic cops just want to write tickets.
Aah yes, #9, where you can simultaneously speed past backed up lanes of traffic while scolding someone else for speeding past and rear ending traffic 👏👏👏…
Huh? That wasn't why the cammer honked. The trucker was turning from a straight lane, the cammer was in a straight or turn lane trying to go straight. Trucker nearly caused an accident.
#30 9:39 That's some piss poor road design. I get that they're trying to prevent right turns from the middle lane to that onramp, but clearly zero thought was given to large commercial vehicles. Then there's the weapons-grade arse reversing back to the turn. Genius. Slow clap.
3:39 - Okay, if you're going to pull over to the side, and one should after an accident, then why bother trying to stay on the road after getting hit?!
Just FYI, since this DOESN'T seem to be as common knowledge as it should be, there is *NO legal "obligation" to let someone merge in front of you.* The onus is on the person merging into traffic to do so safely, of course this would always be easier if people understood how to zipper merge for sure but it still doesn't give anyone the right to try to occupy space you are already taking up.
#30. 9:54 Wow! So many things done wrong by the trucker (including stopping for no reason). And another CDL Bites the dust. And, for the other vehicle. NPC mode activated.
Actually, in this case, the truck driver actually did everything right. The designers of that on ramp failed to account for a vehicle his size. He stopped to wait for traffic to clear to his left so he could swing out and make the right turn. When a truck driver cannot make a turn safely due to traffic, they are supposed to stop until traffic is clear. The only fail I would give him was not realizing that car had made a stupid move and was backing towards him. He should have seen it and stopped sooner. However, he was most likely watching his mirrors carefully for someone to try and sneak up beside him while he was making that turn. The CDL training manual says if we cannot safely make a turn due to traffic, we are to sit and wait however long it takes. No exception. That may mean sitting through multiple green lights.
3:25 semi driver swerved into the suv.. watch yellow line on left fender of semi.. he moves left, the just as suv bumper is even with semi bumper semi jerks right
5:35 this is utter speculation but Im guessing that the left lane gets stopped because everyone wants to be in the fast lane and no one respects following distance anymore. So what happens is someone shoves in and the everyone behind them has to slow down more than the guy in front to keep from being too close. Eventually if the line of traffic is long enough someone gets stopped and someone in the line isn’t paying attention.
@0:14 #2 So truck coming made no contact with anyone, took out no signs, but they just had to send their video to police to load them down with a video that CANNOT do anything about. Some camers just be EAGER to share them videos. L
I really do not understand the mentality of people who think they can just bully their way into a turn lane or even stopped traffic, these kind of people lack any sense of morality.🤦♂ OK so that end one was that insurance scam or was the person actually trying to reverse to get on the freeway? Right or not, that setup is designed to tell 18-wheelers they're not allowed to use that on-ramp. The trucker says "I'll do it my way" and the car says "I'll do it my way in reverse." Chaos ensues for everybody.
@@pbro4567 Actually it's set up to prevent right turns from the center lane (the ramp is 2 lanes wide).
@@pbro4567…
I don’t know of any freeway ramps that trucks are “not allowed” to use… but if there is such a thing, I’m pretty sure they would use a “no trucks” sign to tell the truck drivers.

3:40 not a terrible recovery.
#14 4:14 The car in front of the Mustang didn't "slam on their brakes." You were driving only 0.6 seconds behind the Mustang, yet it took 4 seconds from when the Mustang's brake lights went on to when you hit it (7 seconds from the first time the Mustang braked). That means it was very gradually slowing down. You just weren't paying attention.
How about showing dash cam type for each vehicle?

I have noticed a common thread in all of these videos - when a semi driver screws up there is almost never a back story/"narrative" regarding the accident.
It’s usually pretty obvious what happened to be honest
@@Pointlesschan True, but sometimes I wonder was the driver just an idiot or did he have an equipment failure or possibly some other reason for the accident.
At least they aren't trying to come up with some ridiculous story about why it's everyone else's fault.

There. Fixed it. Bad drivers should not be allowed to be bad drivers and make others work around them. You merge wrong, it's your fault, not rhe person that you claim should have waited for them to continue being a bad driver
@@moonscar119I prefer to yield in such situations anyway. If someone is already doing something dumb like that, there's a good chance they will continue doing it in my direction. Short of throwing it reverse, they aren't very likely to hit me if they are in front of me.

1:33 Tow truck was there just in time.

Notice lard lad donuts in the background.

Im confused. This appears to be the same turn cammer is making. How is it illegal?
The description is a total mess. I'm guessing they jumped into the left turn lane at some point by using the straight lane to bypass other cars and crossed the solids.
@@HDTube101In front of the law…
That turn pocket is 100 m long. If the line of cars approaching the lights to go straight extended back 150 m or more, the offending car may have used the previous left-turn pocket and the oncoming left-turn pocket to overtake them. That would be consistent with what the caption says.
Probably cut from the video, MDS does that a lot
It's possible there was a 2 way left turn lane in the middle of the road and they used it as a driving lane to get to the left turn lane for the intersection . The description says they used it to "jump a long line of traffic to the intersection".
Great video!

6:21 honest question for truck drivers - do you not feel the trailer doing that before it starts to flip your tractor?
Possibly load shift…but good question.
9:50 California highway engineering at its finest.
04:10 Best comment.
1:42 Those emergency vehicles have things on them that make very loud noises to notify drivers that they are coming.

Just FYI, since this DOESN'T seem to be as common knowledge as it should be, there is *NO legal "obligation" to let someone merge in front of you.*
The onus is on the person merging into traffic to do so safely, of course this would always be easier if people understood how to zipper merge for sure but it still doesn't give anyone the right to try to occupy space you are already taking up.
#8 gotta be better at defending your lane if you're going to play that game. That said, I'm happy to hear chevy got all the fault.
9:51 why did the trucker turn there ? those plastic things are there because your cant turn or change lanes there
