    Hey Bro, awesome camping video! 🏕 Really enjoyed the scenic views and your journey. However, I'd love to see more of the nitty-gritty camping experience too - you know, the real deal!
    Could you consider showcasing the cooking process, especially in remote areas? It'd be cool to see how you whip up a meal with limited resources. A bit of bonfire action and the struggles you face would add a touch of reality - we all know camping isn't always a walk in the park! 😅
    It would be fascinating to see how you tackle weather challenges and wildlife encounters during your camping trips. Sharing your tips on handling these situations could be both informative and entertaining.
    Overall, keep up the great work, and looking forward to more camping adventures from you! ⛺🌲

      Cooking out there with a fridge and propane stove actually does make it a walk in the park, we don't really struggle doing it at all. In some of my other videos I touch on that kind of stuff a bit more. I tend to eat repetitive meals from one trip to another as well, so I don't want to bore my subscribers remaking the same food every video. Some people like the cooking aspect of these kinds of videos, and some people don't. I will take a poll on the channel and see if more people want to see that kind of stuff and if the majority votes it in, I will start doing more of it.
      Thank you for the feedback!

    Great Video! Anxious to see the next one. Question: How is your Traction Boards attached to your Spare Tire? Are they being held in the Trash Bag mounted on the Spare, or are they held by straps or something else? I struggle where to mount my traction boards on my FJ. Currently they live on the Roof Rack with rubber bungees and a lockable cable which also locks my shovel. I do not use an RTT, as I like Ground Tents. But my Tent (Gazelle Tent) is about 6 feet long in its bag and needs space on the Roof Rack. I make it fit, but its tight. I would like to move my Traction Boards to the spare tire. Keep up the great videos and thank you.

    Oregon was the state I had some of the highest expectations of for overlanding, but was most disappointed by mostly for the bad primitive camping and weird amount of paved roads in remote areas like you encountered. Not to mention the surprising amount of clear cut logging areas, which would inevitably be where the most available “campsites” were IME. Had good camping in Washington, good camping in northern CA, no good camping experiences even in less populated eastern Oregon. Not saying it doesn’t exist but I guess you’d really have to know the secret spots.

    A lot of the homeless population from Portland ended up on the coast after being pushed out of the city. People dump in the Forrest out there as well because disposal charges are outrageous. The coast and the Willamette Valley are too wet to have landfills. Trash is taken by semi to eastern Oregon.

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I assumed it was something like that, it’s not all blatant land abuse but it’s such a bummer to see no matter the cause. We crossed into Washington and it was immediately cleaner. Like 5 miles from the state line.

    I have only camped on the beach in one spot on the Oregon coast, and so want to go back and explore more of it. Such a beautiful State and the beaches are amazing! Great editing and drone shots, love it! And I have to agree on how well the Alucab does in strong winds - just point it into the wind like a sailboat and you are good to go!

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah man, get out there and do some exploring! As for the Alucab, its such a solid design it always feels more like climbing into a little cabin than a tent. Not having the anxiety of the tent taking off in a strong gust of wind seriously helps me sleep better. I used to lay awake half the night with previous tents I used.

    Thank you for sharing and being forthright about the issues Oregon has seen in their forests of late (last decade or so). We are planning a trip to PNW this coming summer and going to visit the Owyhee Canyon area on the way out (eastern Orgon desert area), then after the PNW head to the coast but I am thinking heading up to Washington after seeing what you experienced. I do have a friend that lives in Eugene and he has also shared how degraded the Oregon wilderness/forests have become. I did a cycling tour of the pacific coast from VC Canada down to northern California then back to Wisconsin (where I lived back then) with two friends in the early 80's and slept off grid the entire time and never saw what you experienced. It's a shame as Oregon has some of the prettiest forests. Washington has (had) more wilderness beaches that allowed camping in the past. Will have to do more research on that before heading that way. Thanks again - love your channel.
