I’ve been playing for a long time and never ever learned that tapping sequence. I truly appreciate it. You are a fantastic instructor! Don’t ever stop!🤘
I’ve always loved this tapping piece that Eddie did on Spanish Fly. Sounds killer on electric guitar. I’ve learned this from your video. I much appreciate you taking time to show us how it’s done Cameron! RIP King Edward! You are sorely missed and to me, you’ll always be the best!
Cam, great EVH stuff! You are sounding incredible, as always! I really dig what you've done with that guitar as well, adding some color by changing the volume knob and the pickup mount! That's one of my favorite EVH guitars! I love the dots and stripes design! 😊👍👍🎸🎶
I saw Van Halen live in 1984, I was upfront, about 10 from him almost the entire show, of the many things I noticed, he tapped extremely hard, slamming his finger on the fretboard, accurately and with force.
Dude thank you so much I didn’t even know this was from Spanish fly I’ve been trying to figure it out by ear but this helped me learn my favorite tapping lick, Thank you so much
I don't know if you interact with your fans but I'm newish and I've learned a few things watching your videos. I really want to say thank you dude! You're amazing!!!!
I certainly do interact with my subscribers. Without them I couldn't do this. And it's you I have to thank. Really appreciate you stopping by and leaving the lovely comment. All the best. Cam
Cameron this is great. This has improved the way I have played this. You sound just like the record. I am came across an old guitar magazine (20yrs about). Interview with Steve Morse. He said he is more amazed with Eddie's Rhythm. I have heard this before. His rhythm is one of the best of all time. Anyway you could do maybe some rhythm from AFU (Naturally Wired). Seems to be a rhythm clinic for a song. The intro to that song is so original and awesome. I have never come across anyone who ever pointed that out. Do whatever you want, your lessons are awesome no matter what. Just hoping you cover some VanHagar killer rhythm sections that maybe you find interesting.
Thank you very much for your comment Joe I really appreciate it. I will be learning lots of Van Halen/Hagar stuff in the near future but at the moment I am concentrating on some Black Sabbath, Gus G and some progressive music from Plini and Angel Vivaldi. Really been getting into that stuff lately because of the feel and the phrasing. You need to check them both out if you haven't. I was never a fan of instrumental music but Plini and Angel Vivaldi have changed that. Also working on a Cathedral cover that should be up in the very near future, yet again I am mimicking the live version. I'm surprised by how it is coming along, I hope it impresses you guys too. :)
Hey just want you to know that after 20 years of playing guitar pretty consistently and rock climbing pretty intensely, idk if I’ve ever given myself the particular kind of blister that sitting down and really trying this gave me lol so thanks for that Cam really 💕😂
Practice makes it happen always hard work but you must challenge to get better,um referring to only one just say in.enjoy and have fun.I have taken flamenco guitar and applied its fun on electric 😁
Missed a bit in the final A string descending bit .. which is my favorite part of the lick. But great “Live Without A Net” version. Your handshake must be like a vice grip ;)
What is your opinion of Guthrie Govan’s “Larry Carlton” track? One of the best solos I’ve heard recent years... and, one of my influences is Gary Moore: he has so much top solos on his name... ever heard his (cover of) The Messiah Will Come Again (live in Montreux)... a must see....
edie van halens guitar solos could easly be records on their own sadly the buble gum radio stations did not play his fantastic guitar techniques i would be considered underground..i wished i had ben to even 1 of his concerts..few guitarest can say they single by themselves changed guitar playing like he did..i realy dont care that much for the songs..like i do his creative guitar solos..and ill bet we will never know all his guitar techniques
Why not on an electric guitar? I don't need to honor the album version when Eddie has played it thousands of times live - the live version is what I chose to teach.
Cameron Cooper plus, its about the lick itself. Its like saying that if he taught you a riff such as lil jack horny on an acustic it would make it unvalid. It's about what is taught, not on what instrument its played on☺
Terribly sorry for the frosty response in my previous response, I truly appreciate the comments I receive. Quite often with my Van Halen videos, I get some very angry responses from people and I feared that you might have been one of them. And it is NOT the case at all. I just prefer to do it on the electric because I can record it properly, and I also love the live version just as much as the album version. Have a good day! :)
@@CameronCooper No worries, I get it. No I am not an angry responder at all ( well not at you ). I love your videos, your lessons and most of all your playing and you are a great guy. Send me your guitar and we'll call it even😀. Thanks for the response and have a good evening too.
It is the final tapping sequence at the end of Spanish Fly. Spanish Fly and Eruption are separate pieces of music. I think you're getting confused with the live recordings of his solo where he includes bits of Cathedral, Spanish Fly, Eruption and Little Guitars.
I'm merely teaching it. Maybe learn to do it or practice what you preach and come with something original yourself. I've seen comments like yours countless times and it's usually the mark of a jealous person who can't play this stuff anyway and has nothing better to do than try to plant doubt in the mind of the person that triggered them in the first place.
I'd probably take your answer seriously if you were constructive. Not that you need to waste your time writing a second attempt because I am playing it the way Van Halen does. And other viewers are testifying to that. bye bye
Spanish Fly is also inspiring because it has that one vocal, the Eddie grunt
He says «here we go»

Dude everything Ed does is ez. To show us Quit taking Life so seriously. PEACE
@@bobravenscraft5376 Ummmm as soon as you said “everything Ed does is EZ” you lost all credibility. 👎
Fantastic! I learned this from a cherry lane tab book in 1993. You have captured this so accurately! Tone is spot on.
Cool Joe. The tone comes from a Yamaha THR10X, same with all of my other videos. :)

Bruh thank you so much , I’ve been looking for this for ages , it’s by far one of my favorite pieces ever . Cheers
This lick is one of my evh's favourite. Thank you very much Cameron. You explain every evh secret very well and your playing is awesome! RIP EVH.
Awesome! Dude you are great at tapping! Inspiring stuff man! Thanks for the lesson!
Thank you Rath I really appreciate the comment. :)
Of course! You are a badass sir!
awesome. im off work tomorrow so i will play with this all night!!! Thanx Cameron

Learning so much from your lessons! Thanks so much!!
Perfect tone!
Awesome lesson. I have very long fingers and even for me that is a mean stretch. Thanks for continuing to inspire us Cam.

Yeah you don't have to look you can hear it in Spanish Fly. I think the volume comes from pulling off hard rather than hammering on hard.
AWESOME!!
Thanks, Cam
Your videos always motivate me to practice more 👍👍
I really appreciate that thank you so much! :)
I second that!
Love that guitar!

Sounds good on electric!
I play it on the spoons also great.
@@culturedmilk363 i play it on the triangle and it's great
@ty j played it on Robert Trujillo’s Kazoo sounds great
Thanks cam :)
Brilliant
I always liked Spanish Fly because it went straight into DOA which has always been my favorite VH song
Driving the desert in 1981 at night with the warm air in the car looking at the night lights of Palm Desert . Old memories.

Yo same! This made me wanna learn so much from Eddie
Wrist killer lick! It's awesome tho
Nice! You can devote the whole channel to EVH that's fine with me. 👍
How do you get that amazing tone?
I am using a Yamaha THR10X :)

You're right. I was kicking myself when I noticed
Hi don't no why but this lick always reminds me of neon city vibes for some reason

Where do you get those cool vintage signs on ur wall? Cool vid as well, thank you.
They were ordered on eBay from shops in America. I wish I could be more helpful but I actually bought them off my Dad
what is that attachment on floyd rose? drops tunning where can i buy one how does it work?
Look up the EVH D-Tuna
1984... greatest Van Halen album. Also my first Van Halen album. LOL
Not that this is from 1984. Don't misunderstand.
Great playing !!! Where did you get that colored tone knob and pu ring??
They are actually dimarzio and ibanez replacement parts bought from pickup magnet. Com.... Perfect replacements...
Do you use any pedals while playing this lick?
Cam is just using the amp

Hey Cameron I have a request on EVH Lick since I need help learning this lick
Which lick is it?
@@CameronCooper the Spanish fly note where you hit the G and High E string like the solo of into the fire
@@sabbathbeast1322 I'm not sure what you're talking about. Do I play what you want to learn in this video?

First thing I ask guitarist. How's your Legato on the Fly. The Go What???
I'm not really sure what you're asking
Hey budy what string gauge are you playing for what tuning? Cheers!
I use 9-42
Gary Moore white knuckles sounds like eruption a bit but picked instead of tapping
Why does that guitar look tiny on him
20k you play with Jacob Deraps !!
That'd be a lot of fun! He's the best at Van Halen on the net :)

as a guitar player since i was 14 EVH never really stood out to me, yeah he's got all the tricks and stuff but gary moore still is my favorite...ever.
As good as gary moore was he will never be as big as evh he's the king every guitarplayer from 1978 onwards says evh inspired them to play

OK.. Now play Cathedral.
