My humble advice about the dashboard and windshield part to avoid the heat you can put a bigger towel to cover the sun exposure and that you get more cool temperature inside the vehicle.
@@DetailWithJess I have been watching videos on this business for about 4 days and have currently just started watching this one without skipping or fast forwarding and I’m trying to take it all in. I am in Thomaston and when you said summertime in Connecticut especially this year I one was thinking I will and would be drenched but two I hope I don’t have to compete with you if I get up and running 😎😎😎 great video I’ll go ahead and finish it
For detailing interiors on a hot day I close the sun roof! Also buy a sun shade!!!! Life saver and saves you from burning up your hand and your products dont flash dry on the dash.
I do detailing part-time. My customers drop off their cars the night before which allows me to start working on their cars between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30. A.m.. I will then start cleaning all four wheels, then the door jambs, then washing the exterior drying exterior as well as a quick detail spray. Once that's completed I will start working on the inside. I will usually leave the floors for last due to the fact that I'm inside the car cleaning the dash windows seats. Once I'm done I will do a thorough vacuuming and at that point I'll be done. I will do a walk around of the vehicle just to make sure I didn't miss anything and that concludes what I refer to as a mini detail.
I'm not a professional Detailer, just detailing my own cars. Consider a 10 x 10 pop up canopy. The ABC brand I got has wheels and was surprisingly easy to pack up.
Only things I do differently - 1) I always clean carpets and seats at the end, because I'm going to dirty them while cleaning the rest of the interior, 2) I don't use a towel to clean interior at all, I prefer pads. Towels bunch up and roll and are a pain. They also don't have enough scrubbing ability. I use Griots Microfiber Cleaning Pad for a deeper clean then then Griots Microfiber Applicator Pad for a final buff and for delicate plastics/screens. 3) Finish with air freshener/fragrance. Put air on high and recirculate for 5mins to move it around. 4) I've seen you use a dental pick for crevices - Detail Factory sells a "pick set" that is made for that type of thing and is much safer 5) On outside don't forget to dress undercarriage, especially on trucks, with an Undercarriage Spray.
Always a great detail! At six hours for $300 that works out to $50 an hour or $100k a year at full time (40 hours a week but before expenses of course). Your efficiency will get better by focusing on a specific area at a time and having all of your tools at hand - grabbing different tools and moving (especially, in and out of the interior) adds to your overall time. Considering how hot it was though I can see wanting to work different areas that might be in the shade. I will sometimes spend 3 hours on one of my Mini Coopers so you are making good time when you consider how large a Sequoia is....
I love your attention to the little details. Such as trunk & hood jams. Some people open their trunk & may not even notice but most will. And you know. It's amazing how much dirt, leaves and pine needles accumulate there. It's nice to see your honesty and humor about how hard detailing is when mobile & in the heat. It takes a lot out of you physically & mentally. How many of us have or can afford a temperature-controlled garage. Not many but It's on our wish for sure. Keep up the great work!
Hi Jess, I always do the jams first. My thought process is that if I get any misting/overspray on the seats or carpet, I’m going to be able to handle it when I get into the vacuuming and interior cleaning. I also put a big beach towel over the seats to help mitigate the overspray a little. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way though. You crushed it here:). I don’t let anyone touch my car, but would let you based on this video. It’s the first I’ve seen from you.
I’m a weekend warrior detailer and just do family members cars but the amount of attention to detail you have per car, you should definitely charge more (if you feel comfortable of course)! Amazing work! Loved the video!
I like your narration and voice-over. Very pleasant and straightforward and you explain your process well. I'm fairly new at detailing and always looking to improve and try new things. Subscribed and following!👍
Hi, Jess. Nice work.. I used to take 6-7 hours on one vehicles myself, but now my time is cutting down. Even though I still take some time depending on what the job is. Shampoo with wash and details will take long but I tried to cut my time. Sometimes I vacuum one side then wipe down , clean door Jams and move onto the other side and do the same thing then the trunk and the edge , close it and onto my washing then finish exterior and back to interior, I will do the polishing of dashboard and all other areas of kind then glass and do my final vacuum to get up any light stuff that are noticeable close my doors , walk around the vehicle looking for any fingerprints and get ride of them then I let customer know ik done.. I have 25 reviews and they are all 5 stars on Google listing.. But I am having issues with not getting many customers booking me from my Google listing.. I don't know why and what is going on..
Just found your channel - great vid and I subbed. I literally just bought my first pressure washer and have been getting it "customized" with quick releases, smaller guns and all that. Now that I've got a lot of that stuff sorted, and my driveway cleaned up, I'm thinking about moving on to detailing my car. But holy cow - 6 hours of work is a LOT. BUT your end product really looked great. Like I love the shine and the ways you went about cleaning up all the dog hair and your attention to details. LOVE IT! AND it was surprising to hear you wash one side and dry it before moving on to another panel. I never thought about that but it makes so much sense. Down here in Oklahoma we have regular 100+ degree days for months on end and it's brutal. I feel your pain and it's super annoying when trying to wash a car. Would LOVE to hear more details about this because it's not as obvious to us newbies how you actually pull this off. When I've tried in the past, I ALWAYS have to go back and really work on the sides I've already done due to over spray and drips and all that. Maybe you have that in other vids. Anyways I'll check out more of your vids - I'm so new I don't even know all the equipment and chemicals you've been using but keep up the good work and thanks for the vid.
This is exactly how I detail. It takes me a full 8am-4pm to do a full detail, I will shampoo seats and carpets and also do a one step paint correction but your wash and interior process is just like mine, very thorough! You do a great job
I only detail one vehicle a day, unless it they are ceramic coating maintenance (or my own vehicles). Door and trunk/hatch jambs are done when I am washing the exterior, they get a final wipedown using CarPro Reload after completing the interior. I work out of my attached two car garage.
As mobile detailers we are very limited working outdoors and shade is our best friend. To be honest with the high heat + the heat advisory which made it feel like 106 degrees, it drained me. You mentioned you don't know how other detailers clean the exterior so fast especially in direct sun. I wonder that too but my process when i am in direct sun is straight forward. I knock out the door jambs, then onto the wheels and then bug removal and address any heavy soiled areas. Then i do a thorough rinse and then i use the foam cannon with shine supply hotshot or adams mega foam mixed with distilled water. I then wash the vehicle in full and then go for my rinse and then towel dry. I know many detailers would have their say so about washing in direct sun but i mentioned those 2 car wash products because they were formulated to soften your water and be used in direct sunlight. I have had great results with those products as i get 0 water spots and i don't know how they made those products but that is how i am getting the exterior done pretty quick. Great video by the way and it's great to see a detailer adjusting her technique based on the weather conditions as it is not easy at all on the hottest days. One thing i will say is that i don't know how other detailers are using iron decon on a hot vehicle in direct sun.
Love your experience. My process is very similar but still takes an hour…I have no idea how in the world Detailer’s say that tires, door jambs and the entire exterior should be done in 30 minutes 😵💫 But I also wonder if these Detailer’s are in the city?…I have done a couple city vehicles and, oh my, what a breeze! But vehicles out in the country on fresh country tarred roads, dirt roads, and gravel driveways are a whole different game. So great to hear that those products have worked well for you in the sun!
Good job...I do everything almost the same way...but...I do each section at once...the rear of the vehicle...then the back seat area and then the front ..all the vacuuming, plastics and glass etc...without having to go back
Fantastic video but you should care about swirl marks and scratches and you MUST ON ALL VEHICLES SNOW FOAM 1ST then rinse then SNOW FOAM again and on the 2nd snow foam use the foam as a shampoo and THEN contact wash with multiple separate microfiber noodle mitts to reduce the risk of introducing swirl marks and scratches and you should do a ceramic quick detailer spray as a drying aid therefore saying time but giving your customers a deeper shine protection and water beading whether you like it or not it looks good and gives the vast majority of customers a visual que that their vehicle is protected and shiny
Just a suggestion on materials..... I started using DIY Detailing products and they are pretty damn good! One stop shop. They also have videos on RUclips, and I like you are always wiling to learn more and save time. Continued success and thanks for sharing.
Great video! We determine our detailing process based on the vehicle. Generally, we try to stay with a pattern, but that can change based on the condition of the vehicle. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to more content. Cheers!
I always do door jams after the wash. Heavy animal hair removal is always extra. Of course, it is dependent on first-time or repeat customers. Try doing that full detail in the extremely hot and humid south. FYI, you are not old! Great video.
Can you recommend me a REALLY good bug and tar remover please? I don’t like the basic on the shelf ones. Thank youuu!! Just subscribed, awesome content and very informative.
I am so glad to see there are others out there like you. I am the same with my details, and often wonder about whether I have under valued my services. Regardless, I stick to my guns and just keep doing it the only way I know how. Keep it up!
So glad to hear! I get sooo much positive feedback and a lot of “I will never use another detailer” comments from people who regularly get details so I like to think I’m doing things right in my book…and it sounds the same for you! I am always working to get a little faster but it is what it is!
FYI, I just completed a full exterior detail only & it took me 12 hours to complete (Chevy Equinox SUV). I deep cleaned the engine, wheels, tires, wheel wells, door jams, trunk area & hood and all areas were protected. The car was mechanically & chemically decontaminated. Then machine polished. Finally it was protected with a Ceramic Spray Coating. Tires and trim were protected as well. It took me 12 hours to complete these steps. The customer was charged $360 and was completely satisfied...
@@DetailWithJess It is a fair price, I do detailing as a hobby. I am retired and I like to pay back in my community. Life is not always about making money. I charge less for neighbors & of course friends...
Do it in the order that suits you best and then you'll have your routine fixed in your mind every time. I used to valet or as it's called today - detail cars here in the UK back in the 1980's and it was basically wash the car with one bucket and sponge then a leather to dry everything off. we would have a roll of polishing cloth that we cut into rag sizes to add wax and then buff off. I worked for a company who charged £25 for a brand new showroom car and £35-45 for used cars depending if they needed a T-cut and i got a wage of around £70-80 per week. Oh how things have changed, i sound old but really i'm not. 😂😉
I will recommend washing the car first. sprayed door jams with dark fury or msn or gs . Two things this will help with believe me I detail cars in Vegas heat it’s terrible. First it will cool down the car and you can pressure wash the door jams as you rinse down the car as well. Same towels you used to dry the car put them over the front windshield they will dry faster for your next detail and it will keep the sun from hitting you once you start the interior detailing. That it’s my technique for now. Oh also have you try AWH for wheels and tires in my experience 1:10 dilution on this product will save you big money for wheels and tires. Better than brake buster my opinion. I hope this helps. Great work 💪
Thanks so much for all the tips!! So the reason I stopped washing first was because most of my interiors are SO dirty that when I air compress, the dirt and dust gets ALL OVER the exterior…After living in Florida, I learned people in the city have some really clean cars in comparison to out in the country here. This one obviously wasn’t bad and the exterior could have been done first, for sure.
@@DetailWithJess If the dirt and dust is covering the interior of the vehicle when using compressed air then wear a dust mask as that same dirt is going in your lungs.
Great looking detail! Excellent results! I wish I had a nice set up like your van, but I'm only infrequently detailing. I love Dark Fury! I use several chemicals from Superior Products, including Road Warrior. I mix DF and RW as an exterior APC to get grimey stuff, bugs, and tree sap. I use it on wheels, door jambs, fuel door, and weather tec mats. I may have to start using wheel acid, though. I keep getting cars that have never been detailed and DF doesn't really cut through the caked on brake dust. Not even with scrubbing.
I am with you there! I don’t use acid either and it would probably save me so much time. Thanks on the van! I traded my car in for this van and it’s my full time vehicle
I’ve been using Koch Chemie AWC for wheels and tires diluted 1:3 and it browns the tires immediately and cleans wheels very well. I was using brake buster but as you mentioned a lot of the vehicles aren’t regularly detailed so I need something stronger. Not the cheapest but it’s diluted and works great. If I have stubborn tires I’ll use car pro retyre.
I would suggest getting a deionizer, that will make washing and drying so much easier and faster. You will not get the water spots when it dries. I use the Dual Bed double standard deionizer by On The Go Water Deionizer. Also add a high quality canopy, it will make your life a lot better. I use Eurmax and have a 10x15. They are not super light but you get a very good quality that will last years. I have used mine for over 3 years so far with no repairs. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
So I'm not the only one who takes long to detail. LOL. some vehicles do...In Texas it gets super hot. We have dry heat at times. In summer I wash the cars in sections because after foaming the car before even I can say dry the foam dries off. For the door jambs I rinse them off while washing and at the very end of the detail I spray some wax and clean them but if they super dirty I use Green Start during the Wash. And for the mats YESSSS Aerospace 303 works really great. That product Little goes a long way. Awesome content. Increase your price lol. You do great work.
6hr is a long time, it all varies on where you are located but since you are very detailed oriented I would suggest raising your prices, I try to get at least 100 per hour. Am sure clients will still continue to call you if they appreciate your hard work, I know I would! Great video and keep it up :)
I love how hard you work! Thank you for sharing you process. With that said, you need to either charge more or find another line of business. $300 for 6 hours isn't enough. If you were in the south like in the Carolinas or something, sure. But being that you're in CT, $50 an hour, IMO, isn't enough. If nothing else, offer a wax for an addon of say $100.
did you seal the exterior? I'd suggest a rinseless wash/clay/seal all in one step... wash a panel with ONR, spray it liberally with bead maker or another spray sealant (Im using Technicians Choice right now), use a clay towel, and dry... done
Always do the outside first to avoid the extreme heat from the body sitting the sun for hours.. Once inside you aleast go some shade. But keep up the good work 👍🏿👍🏿
You do a good job. The more you do it, you’ll get quicker. You may want to consider charging more to work in the sun or invest in a portable tent, to use if it’s not windy. Check out other detailers for tips and tricks to streamline your cleaning techniques and routines. Keep up the good work and good luck!
Thanks so much! That’s one reason I love sharing my videos and asking for feedback, there have been so many great tips that have helped me and I’m appreciative of them!
What I do for to keep the dash a little cooler is after cleaning the windshield just get a few large bath towels and lay them on the windshield and it'll keep the dash and interior a tad cooler.
Hey Jess, as far as the trunk and door jams go use your dark fury on that and it will com clean pretty quick and you can back over it later when you actually wash the car. It's wasi do to my sister's van and suv, it works great!
You could put the Formula 4 in a foam Cannon to foam the vehicle before the final rinse to combat water spots. That's what I do, and I detail in Texas!
Interesting!! That will definitely save time and water. Thanks so much for sharing! I use Formula 4 but have always applied if after the wash..I’ll have to start adding it!! Thanks!
i stagger the process little bit , i do the interior vac/blowout then ill go to the exterior prep because that's when i do doorjambs , then ill usually start back on the interior then finish the exterior
question .. did you just blow out and vac the floors or did you go and clean them with a cleaner too ? also did you just do a basic exterior wash or did you just not show the rest of the exterior detail process?
I did not clean them with any product. I only spot clean if needed or they can had on that on as an extra service. My is a bug and tar removal, wheels/tires, and spray wax. I think I showed all of that in the video but it was really hot and my phone was shutting down due to the heat.
every detailer have different method so whatever work for you then continue. personally for me I'll do the door jambs when im adding prewash on the entire vehicle and grab my pump sprayer it has pre wash in it and i spray the door jambs and agitated with a detail brush and afterwards i start rinsing the entire vehicle and door jambs one by one and once i finish with the entire exterior i go ahead and do a wipe down on the door jambs and if the interior get wet i just wipe it down but usually not much get inside depending on how you rinsing the door jambs
I clean the door jams, including the trunk jams, first. That way they are done and dirt and debris that comes up on the carpet will be handled with the vacuuming
I also enjoy detailing. However, I am under charging so bad. I did full interior and exterior with paint correction for $200 and took the same time to do it (6 hours easily).
Why are you undercharging when you know you’re undercharging? A lot of times properly charging just comes down to confidence and mindset. The next time someone reaches out to you, up your price to a number you feel confident in saying and then just keep upping it until you feel total confidence in charging the right amount. All of these people who tell you to go straight to the full price sometimes don’t realize there is a money mindset and confidence barrier that first needs to be broken through and it sounds like that’s where you’re at. Just keep upping your price and building your confidence in verbally delivering that new price. You got this!
Great job!! It looks amazing ✨ Well done!! Can relate with the heat I detail in South Texas. Get a cooling towel or hoodie for the heat. They sell them on Amazon. Sukeen is the name brand.
Great Job ! Well I will do my door jams first no matter what ! If its hot outside normally try wash first while I have little cooler weather in the morning . Then move to inside. If its cool outside I try do inside first then outside . Either way I use dark furry spray door jams let it dwell then power wash them off and for me it works great ! And I agree Aqua Gloss inside you cant beat it and I found last lot longer and less dust build up!
ooooh dark fury on the door jams - never even thought of that! Thanks for sharing! And yes on the dust too! I tried VRP and when I went back for the maintenance it was as if I never dressed the interior where Aqua Gloss lasts so much longer.
If you keep the doors open, the interior lights and power will turn off. So the key to interiors is to open all of the doors at the same time and leave them open until you’re finished with the detail. Subaru Ascents have the WORST batteries, so for those details, just to be safe, I will start the car every now and then just to be sure the battery stays charged. Worst case scenario, I do have jumper cables with me.
If you switch out pressure washing tips a lot of just like the convenience and efficiency of having your pressure washing tips close by a mad car care products tio holder would suit you well
Because it is water based, it will leave those streaks…especially depending on the material it is being applied to. I dilute it 1:1. I find that when it does look streaky, if I “buff it” out it will remove the streaks. I started using Chemical Guys VRP for that reason and it was no different so I went back to Aqua Gloss.
Hi Jess, i really enjoyed your video. Great job! I'm out west in California it's 107 out here and it take 6 to 8 hours for a full size vehicle like that so I hear what your saying. the cost for your service is about right I knew its different area to area. Stay with it and keep making great videos.
Higher premium service on 1 vehicle at a time, your price it’s worth it and charge more material are not cheap. Dog hair should always be extra your spending extra time. Door jams always first. This vehicle inside only should be 400 maybe 350 without shampoo. Meguiars all purpose cleaner WILL damage interior at one point especially Chevy GMC door panels. The safest cleaner is P&S express interior I know this from experience, Meguiars apc never again for interior
Interesting you say this. I have seen a lot of GMC’s (with 100,000 miles or so) that have destroyed door panels prior to my details. You think it’s from product?
Do you have a garage at home ? That would have been a $350 in my garage, and the ability to utilize a rinsless wash on the paint and windows. Also the ability to incorporate ceramic coatings, and yeild a $1200 to $1500 day
Hey Jess I just found you and suscribed nice video. I was curious what you use to clean around the rubber seals in and around the door, and jambs. Mike
Hey Mike! Thank you. My process has been shifting based upon everyone’s suggestions but lately I have been using Dark Fury to do the door jambs and then at the end of the detail, I wipe everything down one more time with ONR. That leaves a nice finish on the seals. As for cleaning the dirt out of the seals, a little bit of APC and a tornador usually clean them out well.
Nice job on the car, take yr time do quality work, people will love it,too bad you put car in garage and do the inside.frank in norridge, ill I do mobile detail for people at my church in Aurora Illinois, I live in Oswego, ill and do it in norridge,at Iggy's muffler friends shop.
I would recommend knee pads- as someone who loves detailing and been doing it since I was like 14 and I am 33? your knees are good now- young... but them shits will be blown out in couple years. Beside that- everything else looked A-1
If you’re ever in Vegas come on a detail with me, I can help you streamline your process a bit. Tip for doing the interior in the heat… put a windshield sunshade on the outside of the windshield under the wipers it will make a huge difference in temperature and cooling the dash down. A little lengthy on time for a detail, but great work girl. If you ever want to move to Vegas and detail hit me up ;)
Question for you guys... I detail and interiors take me about 3 hours to complete. With that being said, my costumers batteries die sometimes. Does it happen to yall or is there a trick yall have that I should be doing?
So the battery will only die if the power is on - the key is to open ALL of the doors (trunk included) and keep them open through the entire detail. This way the power will shut off and it won’t turn back on. Worst case scenario (Subaru Ascents, for example have the WORST batteries), I will start the car a couple times throughout the detail just to be safe. But the key is to not open and close the doors. Keep them open and it’ll keep the power turned off.
i tried to keep it $75 - $100 per hours when detailing. Yes some I lose money I did many of those $300 / 6 hours work. Tips help but still the one that don't tips you bite your lips that day lol. Good job good video
Thanks so much for the input. I am thinking I should start pricing towards the $75 mark versus the $50. I am thankful that very rarely do I not receive tips so those always push me towards the $60-$75 hourly rate.
6 hours @ $299 is $49 an hour. That's still good. Personally I'd rather book 1 or 2 higher details a day than to do 4 or 5 smaller price details. You're at 1 location so you're not having to set up, break down, set up or travel to next location. You did good work.
Great detail process Jess. On average (I know it varies by how dirty it is) how long does a $299 package interior take for you to complete? How long for the outside? I’m sooo slow on interiors and was curious. Thanks for posting your video , great job!
My interiors take a while…I gave the totals in the video, but in general the exterior takes an hour to an hour and a half and the rest is interior (3-5 hours). But it always varies and there always seems to be something slowing me up - like on this one, the windows were SO streaky…I was losing my mind for a good 20 minutes 😵💫
I just read another comment above that said Meguiars ACP will ruin plastics over time which now makes me questionable. I haven’t experienced it yet though. I was using only XPress but I fully switched over to APC. I dilute APC 1:10. To be honesty, i haven’t noticed any negative affects when using the APC on interiors and I have liked the finish even more. But that’s just my experience so far with having done approximately 50 vehicles with the APC.
@@DetailWithJess I think most APCs are fine. I believe it's only Meguiars that does the staining on certain plastic. I don't know if it's a specific ingredient. It's definitely cost effective. Especially if you have the Autoality membership.
@@DetailWithJessI’ve been detailing customers vehicles for the past 10yrs using Meguiars APC @10:1 and have never experienced any negative effects whatsoever. It’s phenomenal what it can do @10:1 Everything from wiping down dashboards & door panels, cleaning cupholders, cleaning leather & vinyl, wheel wells, it’s even my go to for cleaning carpets. Don’t let these naysayers fool you, most of them talk about rumors they’ve never actually experienced.
I've used Maguiars APC for years too, but I recently had a blip with an interior panel on the rear door of the new Land Rover Defender. When it rained and got wet, the finish went very patchy, and it wouldn't come out easily. I eventually used Armour Detailing Supplies Pilot and it is starting to fade a bit now, but I have learned to be a little careful now with APC (1:10). Shame, as it has been my back bone or go-to APC.
❤ awesome video! I love my tornador. But it completely drains my 6 gallon air compressor too quickly for continuous use. Do you have any recommendations for the best air compressor and air hose combination? Cheers. Brian. Spokane Washington
My air compressor is only 1 gallon so I hear that!! I have just learned to work with it. I was going to get a larger one this season but honestly decided to just make as much revenue as possible and spend as little as possible so I just work with it and manage! But as far as air hose - flexzilla all day long!
Rigid 4.5 gallon air compressor, plenty of CFM flow and 3 year warranty. Harbor freight has this one too: FORTRESS 5 Gallon , 225 PSI High Performance Wheeled Jobsite Air Compressor (but it's heavier and louder than the Rigid. But only $299 also (worse warranty (90 days) unless you buy better one).
I clean the door jams when I'm done with the interior, I use green star with a towel and brush and when I wash the car I hit them again with the pressure washer
I do 1-2 a day, but most days just one as well. It definitely takes time to perfect your process. I’m well over 150 vehicles in and am still learning. You’ll get there!
Finally, a real life detail. I detail the same as you. Takes me a long time. Thank you for the reality check!
@@bluesfanchad the 20 Likes on this comment so far give us confirmation that we’re doing things just the same as the majority 🙌🏻
I like like to put 2 drying towels over the windshield to keep the sun out of the car and the heat works great
Someone else mentioned that, such a good thought!
That or get some foam pads to use for the windshield … I have used both the wet drying towels work the best personally plus it helps dry your towels
My humble advice about the dashboard and windshield part to avoid the heat you can put a bigger towel to cover the sun exposure and that you get more cool temperature inside the vehicle.

Love it! I have started shifting my process since this video with a similar process and it seems to be faster! Thanks for sharing!!
I'm not a professional Detailer, just detailing my own cars. Consider a 10 x 10 pop up canopy. The ABC brand I got has wheels and was surprisingly easy to pack up.
It’s not effective with a vehicle such as the Sequoia!!!
You need to charge more for this level of service. $75 per hour minimum
Agreed.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Thank you for the compliment!
Get ya a portable awning and a cool towel for ya neck to keep cool. Must haves down here in Texas. Lol Great video by the way on detailing.
i always do my wheels first also, most videos i watch they always do the wheels last. great job!
12:17 most detailers have deionized water so even in direct sun light they can let it dry no water spots
Is there a way to reliably do that for mobile detailers?
@@rjmari You'd need to have a tank you pre-fill with DI water at your residence, or some places have filling stations.
I’m a weekend warrior detailer and just do family members cars but the amount of attention to detail you have per car, you should definitely charge more (if you feel comfortable of course)! Amazing work! Loved the video!
Put up a sunshade in the windshield on these hot days to help you while you work on the interior!
I like your narration and voice-over. Very pleasant and straightforward and you explain your process well. I'm fairly new at detailing and always looking to improve and try new things. Subscribed and following!👍
Awesome, thank you so much!
Hi, Jess.
So great to hear that those products have worked well for you in the sun!
for iron remover i do panel by panel, rinse with water cooling it off, spray, claytowel and rinse.
Suggestion. You should think about the DIY new detailer contest on their site. I think you would be a good candidate. 🇨🇦👍👍
Sounds fun!! I’ll have to check it out, thanks!!
I can’t seem to find it anywhere, do you know where you saw it?
@@DetailWithJess ruclips.net/video/HBtHFxrWFHg/видео.html
Good job...I do everything almost the same way...but...I do each section at once...the rear of the vehicle...then the back seat area and then the front ..all the vacuuming, plastics and glass etc...without having to go back
FWIW, I do door jambs as I wipe down interior painted surfaces after a wash. Two birds, one stone. Good luck.
For tires i like to use my alkaline wheel cleaner diluted and then the turbo nozzle to strip the tires
Thank you! I think i May transition because I’ve heard great things!!!
Thanks for sharing! Most don't know but CT's weather in the summer is very much like the south. 95 degrees and 95 humidity 🥵
Can you recommend me a REALLY good bug and tar remover please? I don’t like the basic on the shelf ones. Thank youuu!! Just subscribed, awesome content and very informative.
Heey, thanks for joining! I’m a big of Dark Fury by Superior. It is really cost effective and works great. I purchase it from O’Reillys.
Nice job !! Love the way you work so clean !👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much! 😊
Oh goodness…why did you charge so little?
@@DetailWithJess It is a fair price, I do detailing as a hobby. I am retired and I like to pay back in my community. Life is not always about making money. I charge less for neighbors & of course friends...
@@hartlanddetailer5670how’d you get started with detailing as hobby?
Do it in the order that suits you best and then you'll have your routine fixed in your mind every time. I used to valet or as it's called today - detail cars here in the UK back in the 1980's and it was basically wash the car with one bucket and sponge then a leather to dry everything off. we would have a roll of polishing cloth that we cut into rag sizes to add wax and then buff off. I worked for a company who charged £25 for a brand new showroom car and £35-45 for used cars depending if they needed a T-cut and i got a wage of around £70-80 per week. Oh how things have changed, i sound old but really i'm not. 😂😉
Lol I hear that, times sure have changed fast!
Consider buying DJI Osmo Action 3 , it endures temperatures well ... For recording footage ...
I do door jams first because ussualy after cleaning exterior it gets wet akka easy to clean with towel or paper then use product
I don't understand why you clean car with gloves to then eat with gloves lol
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your feedback! I have considered it and am understanding my value a little more each season!
I do my door jams when I do my prep washing in the beginning
did you seal the exterior?
I feel you. Full details take me around 4 hours.
I am getting faster, thankfully! I have trucks, sedans and a lot of midsize SUV’s down to 4.5 hours but these big vehicles always get me!
I have started doing this based upon your comment, thanks so much!! Works great.
I actually started testing it on floor mats too and it cleans so much better!
I do door jams depending on how bad they are. If they are extremely dirty I wait until the wash to clean them out.
every detailer have different method so whatever work for you then continue. personally for me I'll do the door jambs when im adding prewash on the entire vehicle and grab my pump sprayer it has pre wash in it and i spray the door jambs and agitated with a detail brush and afterwards i start rinsing the entire vehicle and door jambs one by one and once i finish with the entire exterior i go ahead and do a wipe down on the door jambs and if the interior get wet i just wipe it down but usually not much get inside depending on how you rinsing the door jambs
That seems like a good time to do it too!
I clean the door jams, including the trunk jams, first. That way they are done and dirt and debris that comes up on the carpet will be handled with the vacuuming
Thanks! I started doing this since this detail and I think it has been a bit of a time saver
I hit the door and trunk jums first before anything else👍🏼
Good to see your back
I also enjoy detailing.
I’d for sure charge extra for pet hair. I’d also use only one product for the wheels/tires. That’s just me though. Looks like you do a great job.
Great work Jess! Yer crushin' it. Do you have an Instagram act? Keep it up, Take care!
I love seeing you detailing cars you awesome and beautiful
I appreciate that!
My only question? How do you prevent from killing the battery with doors open so much?
If you keep the doors open, the interior lights and power will turn off. So the key to interiors is to open all of the doors at the same time and leave them open until you’re finished with the detail. Subaru Ascents have the WORST batteries, so for those details, just to be safe, I will start the car every now and then just to be sure the battery stays charged. Worst case scenario, I do have jumper cables with me.
If you switch out pressure washing tips a lot of just like the convenience and efficiency of having your pressure washing tips close by a mad car care products tio holder would suit you well
Thanks for the tip!
I’m running into problems with the aqua gloss looking streaky. What delusion ratio are you using for the aqua gloss?
Thanks a bunch!
Not bad for 6hrs. Vans and large suvs have alot of Compartments. But keeping your prices up in the $300 is good .
Great review
Thank you!
Great Vid! Great content!
@@DetailWithJess thank you

I would recommend knee pads- as someone who loves detailing and been doing it since I was like 14 and I am 33? your knees are good now- young... but them shits will be blown out in couple years. Beside that- everything else looked A-1
Young knees, that’s cute 😂 I have 6 years on you haha
But I agree!

If you ever want to move to Vegas and detail hit me up ;)
Thanks so much!
Wow a know it all!
Have you ever tried the DIY detail stuff ?
The comments are all saying go with DIY so it’s definitely in my future as I run out of products and need to replace them!
I agree with you and appreciate that. Plus I received a $50 tip so I’m not complaining!
Best to aim for $75 to $100 per hour to cover your wages and overhead.
Get A canopy it will help you with the heat
Great detail process Jess. On average (I know it varies by how dirty it is) how long does a $299 package interior take for you to complete? How long for the outside? I’m sooo slow on interiors and was curious.
Thanks for posting your video , great job!
My interiors take a while…I gave the totals in the video, but in general the exterior takes an hour to an hour and a half and the rest is interior (3-5 hours). But it always varies and there always seems to be something slowing me up - like on this one, the windows were SO streaky…I was losing my mind for a good 20 minutes 😵💫
Hi Jess can you give me a advice for my detailing business
Great job 👍. Putting in the work 💪💪. Don't give up.
Thank you!
Good job 👏
Wait did I miss where you waxed the vehicle?
When you do the exterior wash are you using the two bucket method with grit guards or one bucket with multiple mits?
I take it you didn’t watch the video 😂 But I use two buckets and two mitts
Have you had any issues with Meguiars APC doing weird stuff with certain plastics? When do you decide to do APC vs Xpress?
Good to know! THanks!
I am so slow as a detailer. I just do 1 detail a day. usually takes me 6-8 hours. I am so inefficent and take so many breaks lol.
I do 1-2 a day, but most days just one as well. It definitely takes time to perfect your process. I’m well over 150 vehicles in and am still learning. You’ll get there!
You work alone and how long take you a job like this ?
