@@kevinsteinman8967share the vids bro 👍 looking forward to seeing this, I’ve wanted to use quadcopters in my range but obviously the expense is just too high!
I have been flying on the big island for over six years. Mostly 5” freestyle racequads, I appreciate the approach of your video and helping the public realize what flying these little robots is really about. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Just this week I had a drone buzzing my neighborhood -- first time ever. Walked down the road a piece and found the pilot. Friend of his lost his doggos and he was doing a search. Big MAHALO for your support of Maui. My 'uhane lives there and I've been heartbroken 🤙🏻
Excellent video! Just one correction, not ALL drones are required to comply with RID. Only drones that are required to be registered. A sub 250g drone used for recreational use is not covered under RID requirement because it does require registration with the FAA (even though the new DJI Mini 4 Pro is equipped with a RID module). Thank you for this great video. You are an excellent spokesperson for our hobby. 🤙
If u are a part 107 pilot and operate a sub 250g even under recreational, any and all drones of urs need to be registered and as soon registered also need to have remote id . It's a catch 20. Recreational pilots have a lil bit more liberty over part 107s
@@808-Stat3 Right, that’s why I said “recreational”. I’m not a 107 pilot and I fly sub 250g drones that do not require registration. Therefore, do not require RID.
@@808-Stat3 Yep, doesn’t make a lot of sense. That coupled with the fact RID is a violation of constitutional rights it’s really disturbing. Can you imagine people having app on their phone that could track you down by you vehicle license plate number!?! I believe RID will be challenged in the courts.
@hammondge I sure hope it will. It literally tracks u for anyone to see . Why don't we put an apple tracker in anyone's pocket for us to see where they at :(
I often fly at night as I live in central florida and will shoot rocket launches. I do have a part 107 and use a strobe that can be seen for 3 miles. I'm in restricted airspace, so I have to unlock dji geofencing and do a laanc request for each flight. Since I fly a mini 3 pro, I don't think anyone on the ground ever really notices. Most of the time, I am directly over my house anyway. I also fly small fpv quadcopters around my yard during the day, and the neighbors don't have a problem with it. I wouldn't buzz the neighborhood with a 5" quad though. One neighbor actually got me to do a time lapse of their pool area construction. Thanks for doing this video. Well done!
@kevinsteinman8967 I did meet some very strange characters in the mainland while flying. I do admit there are sum that might be entitled no doubt about it brother.
The biggest complaint in my neighborhood is from people whose house is surrounded by 2 story houses who can see into his backyard. I know he has stuff in his backyard not covered by building permits, but since I fly for business, I only fly in my neighborhood when I'm testing something. I've been threatened more than once when on jobs. I don't want to, but I believe I'm going to start carrying when remote ID goes active.
What a great ride that was. Thanks for the great footage and thanks for the well-informed, measured perspective on something that most people are simply misguided about. The only media I consume is RUclips and this is my new favorite channel. Keep grindin' big fella.
Fantastic music and great video. This should be used by the tv stations as a public service announcement. People need to be educated. And you make a great spokesman.
Oklahoma has inacted a law allowing residents to shoot down drones, forgetting that these drones are FAA registered aircraft and carry the same penalties as shooting down any other aircraft. Got to love those posts - lol. I have answered several on the "Nextdoor" app, informing them about airspace and who actually regulates that. Most drone operators do not care about "watching you" and are probably looking out at the horizon. I do many hyperlapses that appear as if I am hovering over someones house, but am moving at 1mp, tracking the sunset or a cloud. I hope you get lots of monitization on this for the victims of the tragic fire. Always support your channel - All the best to you and yours. pomaika’i!
I deeply appreciate the view. Yes hyperlapses are the most scariest but for horizon views I always try and got the 400 agl. Just to be as far away from those kinda people as I can hahahahahaha
Absolutely much appreciated video 808. The thing is so many people don't know the rules. You put everything in a great perspective 808. Don't know why I didn't see this video for so long but it was just great. And I love what you say at the end of your videos that's how I live my life. Like you said you never know what people are going through. Be nice to people and make them smile. It has a ripple effect. 👍
you forgot , drones under .55lbs/249 grams do not require remote id . technically a drone flying one inch and above your land is not on your property according to faa rules, that is considered air space.maximum flight height for all drones,rc planes is only 400ft in air. tethered flying devices do not have any restrictions , meaning like kites string controls planes, and even a drone on a 1000ft+ power cable.
True. But majority of peeps use above 250grams these days. It became very affordable. Heaps of air2s and m3p out there... oh I forgot the mini3pro is popular too but with the extended battery it's above 250 I believe
- Hey my brother! Great subject that doesn't get talked about enough. Just don't give away too much information when at night when the moon is full our drone can morph into a bat and suck your blood! 🦇 A great point is most drones do not have the kind of zoom that we could see you a 1/4 mile away and make out your face! It isn't that good! I seen a video of some sheriff in Arizona making this claim and has no clue what he is talking about. People like us that have a 107 are not going to risk it all spying on your daughter through a window for a peak. Especially a few hundred feet away. Most drones only zoom in up to 7x's and from a quarter mile we can see much closer, but we're not going to get that kind of detail. Many of us just want to do a job or just have fun flying our drone getting some great video or play around and enjoy our lives. - Good to see you put out a new video my friend! This little section was owned by Silverton, so technically "city" land, but 100 ft away, was the main highway (National forest) with a turn out to overlook the mountains I was capturing on my drone. I had a person drive up to me and told me to leave. Being a 107 pilot, I knew I wasn't breaking any laws. She asked if I wanted her to call the Sherrif, I was like sure, no problem. I'll just go on the road on the turn off above us and there is no law I will be breaking. She wasn't happy, telling me that they had osprey and bald eagles nests by their lake. I was like, well if they feel threatened, they will take my little EVO 2 Pro right out of the sky. I am more afraid of them, then they are of me. She also didn't know I had already been given permission earlier to fly in Silverton by the same Sherrif.
