10 share for each ship. Each share can be owned by one or ten people as they decide to divide a ship. But lets say there are 15 owners, one person has 50℅ ownership, he gets 5 shares. Remaining 11 people can form companies of 2,3,4 whelatever for claiming each remaining share of a ship. I hope this clarifies.
I think principal officer ( PO ) of MMDs are the registrar of ships. ( for Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. ) other places the registrar is the surveyor in charge . please correct me if i am wrong.
POs for Mumbai , Kolkata and Chennai .Surveyor in charge of Mormugao and Cochin have been notified as Registrar of indian ships. At present ships can be only registered in these 5 ports.
@Aakash chauhan: I had forgotten about this comment, here is a clarification on that- Chapter XI-1 deals with Ship Identification Number (SIN), which must be permanently marked in a visible place either on the stern of the ship or on the port and starboard side along with the end transverse bulkhead of machinery space or the hold main beam, which are easily accessible.
