    In addition to your good point 5 about GW supporting the game, I think it’s worth reiterating the sense of community associated with the game - from videos like yours, to bespoke rules, podcasts, terrain making videos, conversions, social media groups etc. well done you and well done all of us. ❤

    100% agree with the rules bloat.
    What could really assist is a clear diagram of how to play & whats required.
    Ie - want to play a standard campaign, use books A & B
    Want a campaign based on a particular gaming style, use books A & E.

    Snowball effect: I like how N95 handed the difference in each gangs rating. The lower rated gang would gain more experience and the higher ranked gang gained less experience based on the total difference before the gang. It allowed the lower ranked gangs to advance much quicker and slowed down the advancement of higher ranked gangs. It also provided incentive for the lower ranked gangs to play the higher ranked gangs even if they were unlikely to win. They also had mandatory gang retirement once a gang reached a specified gang rating.

    As a new player just starting their 1st campaign, i think this has pretty much nailed the initial things i like/don’t like. Coming form 40k, this game is so much more fun to play, I’m almost ashamed I didn’t start sooner… great video 👍🏻

    If you haven’t already done it, I’d love to see you cover some of the weirdest / stupidest / vaguest rules in the game and maybe discuss how you would house rule it or balance it

  • @Steve_Keen
    @Steve_Keen Год назад +5

    I think not listing Forgeworld as a negative was a bit of a miss. Also one negative I'd throw in as a bonus is one towards the community: the acceptance that balance doesn't matter because it's a narrative game. Yeah you can house rule stuff, yeah it's not about min/maxing, but wanting balance doesn't invalidate either of those statements.

    • @Buffaluffasaurus
      @Buffaluffasaurus Год назад +3

      Yeah I agree. I find the constant balance data slates in 40K impossible to keep up with in how sweepingly they validate/invalidate units, but all you have to do is look at the Ridgehauler for Ash Wastes and realise that virtually no one is taking that thing down in a reasonable sized game, and therefore becomes a horribly balanced thing to play with or against.
      There’s just some very basic units and gangs that could’ve done with another pass before releasing into the wild, but not having done that, I would love for GW to do a clean up that prevents us from having to houserule a bunch of bleedingly obvious things.

    Spot on it is difficult to keep up with the books half the battle is finding a good group to throw dice with. I played a game of What a Cowboy this past weekend from Too Fat Lardies, you should check it out kind of Necromunda in the old west

    Completely agree with the rules bloat and too many credits. I’m playing my first campaign and have won most games (using your Escher list btw, thanks for that 😉). Now I have lots of creds and advances and I’m worried that the last half of the campaign won’t be competitive or fun for neither me or my opponents

    This is what I've been thinking about related to power creep. Roll a d6, on a 123 the superior gang has to reduce their crew size to the lesser opponent+100 credits and no have scum. On a 456 regular bonuses for the underdog but the favored player can bring on hive scum ect.

    I have recently started up a gaming club out of my garage.
    We immediately began with a digital compiled ruleset. I don't think any other source of rules is as effective and viable to a new group of players starting.
    I find the rules to be frustrating and I would love to deconstruct and reconstruct them. On one hand, the players want all the choices and options because they love the imagination of the gang, but on the other the imbalances just break spirits as gangs just fizzle and die without doing anything cool at all.
    With the amount of support GW gives Necromunda, the success of Kill Team in breaking away from 40k-like rules, maybe there is an outside chance of a completely new edition. But I honestly believe all solutions to the problem of rules must be player driven.

    Setting and lore...massive tick!
    Minis...totally blow other GW out of the water but not sure the size are compatible with Oldmunda?
    Hobbying...totally agree, i keep my GW stuff as take and play and scratch build throw away scenery from rubbish for at home
    Campaign system...totally do NOT understand how the campaigns and sessions in the rulebook work so we reuse and rejig the Hive War intro campaign
    GW support...agree except that it is prohibitively expensive
    Rules...omg could they be any more scattered?
    Storage...yep except I am now using scratch built throw away terrain made from rubbish for at home
    Limited runs...GW are the worst for this which creates overpriced listings on ebay
    Credits and campaigns vs Oldmunda...totally agree, for gangs duking it out in the scummiest lowliest settings, there are certainly a lot of credits going around
    Rules, inconsistencies and FAQs...GW are notorious for this, seems to be a job requirement to be a complete numpty at this

    I like the production quality (the detailing) of the Necromunda miniatures and the upgrade kits, but some of the designs are not just questionable from a common sense real World point of view, but also from the current political agenda. And also there are some designs that are plain lazy.
