Calling it now, Jimmy and Kim will find a way to spin Howard's fight with Jimmy. They've shown Jimmy getting a checkup by the shady vet in the next episode, maybe to document his injuries. With Howard acting on-edge, they may claim in his paranoid state, Howard tricked Jimmy by posing as one of his potential clients to lure Jimmy to the boxing ring, where he attacked and assaulted Jimmy. Howard and the ref would obviously refute this. But if they managed to discredit the ref, and make any statements of theirs invalid in a potential trial, it would just be Jimmy's word vs Howard's. With the physical evidence of Jimmy's wounds, combined with Howard's odd behavior, and the shady tactic of luring Jimmy to a location would all add up to make Howard look suspicious.
@@kyleabent I'm not so sure. I don't think they thought Howard would actually physically fight Jimmy. But I think they were trying to make him increasingly paranoid to align with the idea they've been spreading that he's becoming mentality unhinged and engaging in less than desirable activities.
If they wanted to document Jimmy's injuries they wouldn't go to the vet. They would go to a doctor. The vet's not going to go to go on the record about his injuries, the whole point is that he's low profile.
@@dog-eared6991 I thought about this as well, but there's no reason for Jimmy to want to keep a low profile as it pertains to his injuries. It's not like Lalo or Howard is going to be waiting outside of a normal hospital for him. If the only reason for the visit was to treat Jimmy, there's no reason why they wouldn't just go to a normal hospital. Going to a shady vet makes no sense unless they're planning something nefarious that would require the assistance of a sketchy individual. Maybe it's for something other than what I described, but there has to be more going on here than just a simple check up.
I was freaking out with the tension this episode the entire time, I find it amazing how they have slowed it down but I have not felt that because the tension is so great. Awesome episode
Kim's past including her real name are very mysterious, implying that she has already broken bad, well before meeting Jimmy. The sloppy pranks against Hamlin are only a prelude to what will certainly become a dramatic escalation in Kim's grift against him, while simultaneously manipulating Jimmy into becoming her version of Saul Goodman. Somehow, the Hamlin and Lalo threads will intersect, but I haven't figured that out yet. Even though Kim and Hamlin might seem more superficially matched, she resents the hell out of him for underestimating her as a damsel in distress and genuinely wants to get back at him for that. Jimmy worships her like a puppy, but interestingly, Lalo and Mike are the only men who see her for who she really is.
I believe Saul is going to call the vacuum guy for Kim. So she's not near his dangerous lifestyle anymore. Then future Saul and Kim meet up in the mall.
Slide rules were used to calculate before calculators. I received one in high school in 1969 but never got the hang of using it! The astronauts used them while in space in the movie Apollo 13.
I don't think Lalo is going to die because yes although he isn't in Breaking Bad, in s2ep8 "Better Call Saul" Saul's first appearance, when Walter and Jesse take him into the desert he thinks Lalo sent them and say "It wasn't me, it was Ignacio!" So my guess is Lalo gets locked up but Saul fears he has pull from prison hence that line.
Anything that involves Howard is a plus in my book. Lalo, Kim, and Howard are the most interesting characters in the show because their stories are very open ended. Tension with breaking bad characters is always good, and often enhances their character while adding more layers to it. But you're never too afraid for these characters because you know they'll survive whatever is thrown their way.
To be fair, if two lawyers with little to no professional boxing experience were masterful fighters, that would have destroyed my suspension of disbelief lol.
Honestly, gus is the type of person to take the phrase "the foundation of my empire is built upon the bodies of my enemies" literally. I think Lalo is gonna get ahold of gus, drag him down to the labsite, and both Gus and Mike will get the better of Lalo, burying him under the concrete foundation of the lab. Edit as of 7/12/2022: mostly called it.
Fun fact-in Breaking Bad when Walt and Jesse take Saul out in the RV and they have masks on when they were threatening him and Saul recognizes Walt’s coughing, Saul says “who sent you? Was it Ignacio? Was it Lalo?” Might be nothing because Ignacio (Nacho) is dead now. But makes me think that Lalo just might live through this season.
Great writing, acting and very intriguing... But I do have to say I'm missing Nacho and his presence is truly missed. Can't wait to see how everything plays out though.
@@Havre_Chithra Yeah, for sure man. After Mike, he's the character that makes BCS so rewatchable for me. Even more so than BB.. He had a great finale. Just wish it was closer to the end, but maybe by the end it will have been the perfect time. Gonna depend on where they take the writing. Still though, that was a tough character death to watch.
Great review Cody and great episode. Love that this episodes title was an Easter egg to a Breaking Bad episode titled Negro y Azul which is black and blue in Spanish. Love that. Just a great casual episode considering the looming threat out there(Lalo)for multiple characters. But I have a theory on the tequila stopper. What if it's a symbol for these storylines coming to a big collision or climax. It's been apart of Kim and Jimmy's story, particularly Kim. And we all know the significance of it on the cartel side of the story. So what if it signifies these stories coming together but also being solidified and connected to the Breaking bad storyline. That tequila stopper is a part of so many story lines. So what if it's the bridge to connect it all.
Oh yeah, I'm certain Howard finding out is part of their plan. Jimmy did all of that stuff with the prostitutes etc prior, so they knew he'd focus on them when other weird stuff happened. And in the episode Kim said, "You know what happens next" to Jimmy. The part I didn't get was why it looked like Gus was counting the steps to where he planted the gun. I feel as if both the cartel storyline and the Howard one will collide in some way.
I wonder if the storylines connect because Gus’s men notice the PI Howard hired to follow Jimmy. That might make Gus’s men assume Howard is somehow associated with Lalo. ( maybe as his lawyer???)
Ok i could be wrong, BUT the preview for next week looks like Lalo was in the underground Meth lab lurking around. So i’m pretty sure Gus will get to use that gun he hid. They don’t put stuff like that in the show if it’s not going to be used. So i think you’re right Cody about Gus or Mike using the gun to take Lalo out.
It is almost like Kim and Saul wanted Howard to know that they are behind this and they are wanting him to retaliate. Maybe his retaliation is what will bring him down? Kind of like how Chuck wasn't using the recording of Jimmy admitting he changed the paperwork. Chuck was using Jimmy's retaliation about the recording against him...
I believe that Richard "Rich" Schweikart, the co-founder of the Schweikart & Cokely law firm, and an attorney for Sandpiper Crossing, will get involved in the second half.
As always love the review. I can't wait to see how this show plays out and ties into Breaking Bad. How long do we have to wait till the final episodes come out after next weeks?
Love the review Cody keep up the content but I have noticed ur videos have been getting slightly shorter is this part of a new format ur trying out? Just asking :)
@@H0und0fHircin3 Or Howard will be left with nothing, no career or personal life, as we've seen his marriage is in trouble, and he'll off himself like Chuck.
By BCS standards, I actually think the pacing is quite fast lol. We've already had a major character death, significant development in the Howard vs Kim/Jimmy, and we're seeing the begging of Lalo's plan taking shape while Gus tries to anticipate his next move.
Also with well written final seasons, that first half or so is almost always dedicated to setting up those dominos, and then just knocking them down in the second half. The more intense stuff will come my friend.

Howard purposefully had a witness during the fight. There was a referee.

I like how you examine storylines within episodes. Very well done Cody.
You know Saul mentions nacho and lalo the first time he meets Jesse and Heisenberg? Can you imagine if Star Wars could build backwards like that?
It's insane how no one has heard of Tony Dalton (Lalo) until this series. The guy is definitely one of the best actors in the show.

I do think Lalo will be shot by the gun Gus left in the lab and then buried in the south wall.

Any theories why Gus behaves so strangely when he was taking the order at his restaurant? Why did he react like that?
He remembered that he introduced the fries recipe to Madrigal and Lalo is probably in Germany figuring that out.
