Wow. Amazing. I just woke up with my left front hip pinching and got the notification on my phone of this video. Immediately tried these stretches, tried walking again and, impingement gone!! Thank you so much for all your videos. They are so educational and informative. 🙏
@@robk9330 It feels like a grab of pain on front hip flexor area in which I can’t straighten all the way up and sends me holding on to furniture to get around the house. Hasn’t happened in a while until this morning again. It’s not isolated either. The back of my pelvis gets really stiff and sore. Having to rake leaves today, I used the mantra - kind of like in the video - of “feet out knees in” when bending over to scoop leaves in a bag. This really helped engage my inner gluts and inner thighs which I believe to be weaker on me. What aggravates it? Probably standing for long periods of time as in going shopping etc.
I can't thank you enough for making this video. This has helped me tremendously. I was having so much pain in my hips and glutes and these stretching exercises really helps. Thank you
I felt my left hip socket get stretched out for a massive release after that last stretch. I don't think I have ever been able to do that before. My left leg feels pleasantly longer! Thanks alot Conor, you're doing the good work.
I cannot believe this worked as well as it did!! I'm not healed, but I tested it with a few squats, and gee whiz, impressive. I thank you, and I'm subscribing!
I've had left hip pain for 3 years and can barely put my weight on my leg. I've been doing physio and nothing seems to help. I did the left hip stretch you show here only for a few seconds as it was causing pain in the front of my hip but then when I got up I had instant relief. The pain hasn't gone but I can walk better and lift my leg out to the side. I will continue with this, thank you!
7:27 I felt that. I've had a jammed finger sensation in my hip for over 4 years after a surgery to repair my labral tear. I thought my hip was set wrong and the bone was grinding at the nerves and muscle in my pelvic floor. That stretch is right on target. Feels like blood flowing back into a dead area. Thank you!!!;
@@hamidman6974 no it was temporary. But my issue is a little more complicated. Possibly a herniated disc from the hip surgery. Literally just had an MRI yesterday.. but the stretch did hit the spot. There's another exercise you may want to check out for lower back if you're having similar issues. You sit in a chair, grab the seat cushion, and pull yourself towards the floor. This is supposed to identify back issues but it gave me a little relief in the leg/ buttock Area.
I have cerebral palsy and recently injured myself from over walking and developed hip impingement. It's been so painful especially with very cold weather and anterior post til. I'm going to try this.
@@jasonfullbright4230Look at Tom Morrison’s SMM. That’s made the biggest difference to me tbh. I’m only about 2-3 weeks in and already feel 10x better. It’s a very slow process getting these things fixed, but it’s the first bit of relief I’ve felt after 10 years of pain
Hey conor, I’ve recently come a lot across forefoot walking and wondered if you would advise it, especially for someone with asymmetry’s. Thanks for sharing all this great content, really got my life back thru you.
@@tp28856 Hi, so as an update sometimes the hip impingement in my case starts to flare up either sometimes on the left side or the right side. However, since I started to do Hip CARS and especially Cosshack squats my hips have felt muuuuch better (you can google the article with tim morrison where he goes into detail) I do both of them really strict 4 times a week, always before working out, and now I usually hold a kettlebell or even an empty bar with cosshack. Because of the impingement, they used to suuck so much and hurt, but you have to push through it and develop the necessary hip musculature. You can try do do them at home where you hold onto something (like door handle) and do the cosshack. It is also going to improve your hip and especially your ankle mobility if you do them often, which you should. Believe me I used to have horrible impingement. What greatly also helps is to develop flexibility in the glutes and hamstrings. 90/90, adductor stretches, pigeon pose chest to middle foot, and especially seated good mornings will give you alot of relief. Core and low back exercises are paramount, the stronger your core, the more you will be able to fully utilize your leg muscles. It is going to take a while, at least some months, but honestly all the hard work is worth it, I have almost 0 pain in my hips now
With left aic. Can I use the #2 exercise just lying on my right side and left leg up? Also your exercises temporarily help me but the last exercise strangely just increases the pain. Do you have an explanation for me. Thanks so much in advance. Great content!
First of all great content, have been following for a while to understand my long time imbalances. Question: why does right and left impingement have different exercise? Could you do both exercises symmetrically?
Search for left AIC pattern. The human body is naturally asymmetrical (more organs on the right side) and therefore, in most of the cases, the pelvic tends to rotate to the right, meaning the left hip tilts forward, right hip tilts backward, left femur externally rotates and abducts, right femur internally rotate and adducts. To resolve that asymmetry around the pelvis (actually around the entire body) you have to perform asymmetrical exercises. (i hope i described it accurately :) )
Why don't you do each exercise on each side? Asking from a point of curiosity. I don't know and want to fix my issues so I am genuinely curious. Thank you, I think these will help.
thanks you 🌹can i ask you a question? I have been suffering from sciatica in my right leg for one year, and when looking at the position of the pelvis, I noticed that the bones of the right femur are not as clear as the others, and when I move my foot outward in a rotated position, I feel a pinch in the back. Is it shorten psoas muscle? can cause this or what
Important question connor; I feel It way more on the left side than the right. BUT. As with so many other of the strethes that exist today, how can I be as sure as I possible can here that it is actually the capsule that is tight, and not just weak(for example weak in one or more of the deep hip stabilizers on the left side)?
For exercise 2 on he left side, I mostly feel it all on the side of my hip. As soon as I cross my right leg behind my left I feel tension in my left hip. How do I fit this pain in the side? I could really use the help to figure out what loosens it up
Nice video. But pls . How about if the person is feeling the pinged on left side and unable to flex the hip even to 60 .cause at 60 he is already experience the pain. What is the alternative for that. Pls . And also he is also left aic right stance .. pls pLs I need ur advice . N some tips of exercise . Thanks ones again ur my man.
My left pec, near the armpit, cramps up on the inhale/as I reach forward. I also have a very hard time getting the left side of the back against the wall
My son was 17 when he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right hip and the head of the femur. He's now 42. He's been in pain most of these years. Is there something that could help him?
You mention at the beginning of the video that people with (left) hip impingement are commonly in excessive external rotation (and have limited hip internal rotation), but what should one do if their femurs are naturally anteverted (internally rotated)?
Hey, can we do the exercise suggested for left hip impingement for the right one? Does the switching the side make sense from biomechanics perspective?
could you make a video about snapping hip and knee. both hips snap on the outside of the hip joint when extending my legs, probably it band or tfl. and knee pops/snaps when reaching 90 degree when squating.
I have this problem and also sciatic and also left aic pattern Is there a video for exercising to our abs when you have this kind of issues Every time I start working out, specially my abs my body goes out of work for months
For me it feels the same. The other practises conor has been sharing are really helpful to me, but the second one in this video seems to trigger the pinching sensation in the front of my left hip, which was the reason for me to watch this video in the first place. I did not stretch my right leg far, but could not find another mistake either. Just did Not feel right somehow. Is there any idea?
What if the pinching is in the posterior hip, in the sciatic/piriformis region ? Is this a symptom which is commonly seen for the same condition of pelvis/femur rotation ?
Look for his video on piriformis syndrome and try that, it may be more adapted to what you're feeling - I have this issue and the exercise resolved it :)
Could you do a video on TFL being activated instead of glute med? When I go into hip abduction, my Tfl is always firing. I’m still able to activate my glutes, but the TFL feels like it is going to cramp up
Hmm I have hip impegiment. However these exercises did not do anything at all after performing these six weeks (three times a week). Was does this say? Is my Impegiment simply too bad?
Hi Connor, some in deep thought process: in your left hip imingement all fours left hip capsule "stretch" it seems that you bias a sacrum turning to left out of a LAIC pattern (right pelvis lower than left meening more late propulsion on that side), but with the sternum it seems that it stays in right side bias and the left posterior mediastinum seems to stay closed with the left forearm being closer to the ground than the right side although reaching with that side. How about turning the sternum also to the left with the elbow in a higher position than the right. Or else I would fear to create a compensatory sidebend to the left side as it occurs in a left trendelenburg with single leg stance on left. Sorry for mixing up terminology ...
