Shion Wakayama has an amazing screaming voice as seen in other anime. It really does give the sense that these are two adolescents thrust into out-of-this-world situations. Two days ago, Momo's biggest problem was breaking up with her jerk boyfriend; now she's running from an Eldritch being going 100 km an hour.

The William Tell Overture, with modern electric drums, leading into Orpheus in the Underworld (the can can) was not on my musical bingo card. It is beautiful and with the adorkableness of these two helps to lighten what is a really heavy episode.

Just to take note on subtle details people might not easily recognize. The reason why the Location Bound Crab Spirit was attacking the Bear sign is because it triggered some sort PTSD because most of them are victims of being torn apart. The female victims were sexually assaulted, got through accident by getting hit by vehicles on the tunnel or getting torn apart by Bears and Worse, Humans. That's why Turbo Granny sensed Momo Ayase was about to be sexually assaulted by the Serpo Aliens she immediately traveled through phone and "Gobbled their Weenies" so that Ayase won't be Sexually Assulted by them the same way she does to other Predators.

It's the closest English equivalent. I tried myself to think of better possible translations but even though the Styx isn't a very prevalent concept in the West, I personally can't think of a better alternative translation that would make sense to an English audience. And keeping it as the Sanzu river would be even more confusing for most English speakers. This is one of those localizations I personally don't mind so much since it maintains the context/nuance of the scene.
I am invested in this relationship and I really hope they continue to build upon it and not just stay friends Not many shounen or action anime’s not counting isekai, have a proper relationship it’s usually at most just close friends or unspoken lovers and they never build further upon it
Fun fact, the location-bound spirit’s appearance is based on the heikegani crab, a Japanese crab with a shell that’s patterns resemble human faces. In myth, they were indeed the spirits of actual Taira samurai who perished at the Battle of Dan-no-Ura who had turned themselves into freshwater crabs to cross the Sanzu River. Over time the myth evolved to encompass passing souls in general, though I don’t know why the subtitles implied the River Styx, which is Greek….
In Japanese elementary schools during the Showa era, the music from "William Tell" was played at sports festivals. While this music played, the children would run their hardest and compete. This scene reflects that aspect of Japanese culture.

Also, not to be THAT guy, but she didn't say "mata ne." She said "mata ashita." "Mata" means "again" basically, and "ashita" means "tomorrow." But "ne" is just a Japanese particle that softens a word and makes it more casual.

Like when Turbo Granny told Momo to speak properly, she was actually saying something closer to "I can tell you're using English to try and confuse the elderly. Speak proper Japanese, I hate English!" But the one that really bothered me was their translation of Momo and Ken saying goodbye at the end... Momo says the English "bye bye" (which is way more common to hear in Japan funny enough) which is a very casual form of goodbye. But Ken says "sayonara" which TECHNICALLY can be translated as "goodbye," but it's not just any normal kind of goodbye. Sayonara is only ever used when you believe you may never see the other person again. It carries a sense of permanence. Like if a husband is leaving for war, or even what students/teachers say to each other after graduation. IMHO, I believe something like "farewell" is a MUCH closer translation. While farewell and goodbye technically mean the same sort of thing, the connotation of using farewell is also one that's used in similar situations to sayonara. Most English speakers are never going to say "farewell" to a friend that they think they'll see again tomorrow. So when it finally dawned on Momo what Ken actually said, her screaming out "I'll see you tomorrow" was basically her telling Ken "No you dummy, I AM going to see you again, we ARE friends, this isn't a final farewell." But because Crunchyroll decided to translate sayonara as "goodbye," it loses that nuance and kind of just seems a little weird. Like it comes off like they're both questioning whether they even want to say goodbye or if Ken should just stay there or something. And then when she yells "see you tomorrow," it's like what? I mean sure, you could still get the sense she's being reassuring and affirming their friendship, but it doesn't really explain why they were repeating "goodbye" to themselves right before that. It just feels unresolved and I wonder how many English viewers will see this and just chalk it up to a weird Japanese idiosyncrasy or something... Not a huge deal obviously and I probably went on WAY too long about it LOL. I tend to do that sometimes. But her taking his pp actually has nothing to do with his gender and the gender of the people who vayo-lated and unalive those girls. Granny can actually curse both genders. it just so happens that okarun was the one who got cursed by granny. And her talking about gobbling his pp is just part of her foul-mouthed personality, which adds a bit of humor to her character. Also there's no mention where all of the suspects who unalive those girls are all male. She also ask okarun if he wants to suckle her teats, which a person who dislike men would never ask. It's just part of her foul-mouth personality. And another information that is being shared right now is the reason why granny entered the phone in episode 1 is because granny tried saving momo is purely a fan speculation. The truth is, it's just a scene thought by the author of thinking on how he can make momo encounter okarun in his cursed state and momo being saved from the aliens.
