  • In the video I called the shockwaves grip a bird's eye for whatever reason. It's correctly refered to a bird's head grip. Anyways, in the video I do my best to show how I attached my Magpul QD MS3 sling to my Mossberg Shockwave 12 gauge shotgun. This sling allows me to carry the Shockwave shotgun at my side when I'm not holding it.

man this was so simple, but I couldn't figure it out on my own and I've been trying to for a while now. Thank you!

Many months later and I still like what I did. Sometimes you do something and might regret or a company might have come out with a better solution, but not the case. I also modified my shockwave's "birdshead" raptor grip. The stipple process to add perminate texture/grip. Ultra happy with that too.

I like the concept. I think having it recessed into the grip would give it more strength. Also it looks like if it hung higher up towards the under side of your armpit it would be more out of the way but still accessible. Idk will have to try it with mine i guess. Thanks for the video.

The magpul strap or ebay copy is adjustable or it could be cut and hortened based on needs. A recesed cup would be nice or a manufactured grip with integrated QD but getting a recessed cup to fit/work is unknown or would take a lot of work to make happen. Either way it can be reversed easily and removed.
I did use my Drexel to flatten out a spot on the end of the birds head grip just enough that I was really happy with the end result.
Strength is as good as the factory strap mounted If you get the right screw diameter and coarse threads.
Now that I've done it I am very happy with the results. Only other way I can see to carry one is the shoulder bag option across back.

I use the same sling on my AR-15 and my maverick 88. You can also get the same sling on eBay for like $10. You can get QD cups with threads on the outside to thread into your grip and it will sit flush with your grip. I'd highly recommend that

A link to the threaded QD cups? I bought my magpul sling 4-5 maybe 6 years ago. Good idea for someone looking to save some money. A very good sling design.

MAGPUL (the maker of your sling) sells these mounting cups (sling mount kits in type 1 and type 2) that will fit perfectly the way it was designed for less $20. You can order from their website.

The QD cups I have seem to be universal and work flawlessly with my MB sling. I have 5-6 of them some from differnt manufactures, all steel or simialr metal not aluminum. They could be Magpuls or where magpul gets theres. 4 to 5 maybe 6 years ago when i first did this, quick release cups with a simple screw mounting hole were not easy to find. Some, just cups sold for $25-30 for two which is/was ridiculous.
There's been AR15/M4 aftermarket stocks, barrel shrouds and other add-on gun parts that had QD cup built into them for many years but I didn't want to go that route.

That looks cool, good video 👍
That's a good way to keep when target practicing for sure, but If I had to run, be more mobile to climb, jump fences , jump in a car, even conceal carry, I would want alternative carry method.
I know that's alot to ask for but, I'm sure a few if those are possible just no one has figured it out yet.
Kinda like that new birds wrap , to cheek shoot took a few year to figure out, I think a equally as great way to carry it needs to be designed.

I would hold the gun primarily in my right hand at the receiver while attached to sling or while detached hence the quick disconnect. I could make you a video demonstration as I don't really see the complexity of the matter. You'd likely be the only one to watch or be interested. I don't own any camo fatigues and gear to make me look all military and serious. I'm not one of those tactical G.I. Joe in the field making videos showing my tactical training abilities per Nut'nfancy style. Running with gun attached to a sling around ones shoulder/upper body alone would make running at full sprint more cumbersome.

By what do you mean? Preps as in stealing someone else food and resources during a catastrophic event and come after people's wives?
