    After working with these planters for a few years, we have learned that one can start using the self-watering feature in 3-4 months.
    This period is long enough for the roots to grow and adapt to a new pot 🌱

    The reason Its very important to be careful when filling because there is no over fill prevention feature (ie. a hole in the side) so if you over fill you swamp your ficus.

      Hi Justin,
      Thank you for watching 🌱
      The planter has a water level indicator (plastic tube) that shows you how much water is in the water reservoir. When the red stick is up to the Max mark, the reservoir is full and one needs to stop pouring water.
      There are drainage holes at the bottom of the inner pot. The cover of the planter (Classico) I use in this video works as a giant saucer + water reservoir. If too much water used or a plant was watered too soon, the inner pot can be lifted out of the cover and water removed.

    How often would you suggest we repot the plant when using the lechuza self watering planter?

    • @Mycityplants

      Hi Caela,
      On average, plants need to be repotted once every 2 years.
      Green Luck, and thank you for watching 🪴

    Do I keep the plant in a pot before putting it into the self watering container? Or plant it directly into the container?

    • @Mycityplants

      Hi Jing,
      Plant needs to be taken out of its original pot and re-potted.
      Thank you for watching ! 🌱

    So before 5-6months how do you water it? Just pour water directly on the soil?

      Hi!
      For the first 3-4 months , yes, the plant should be watered through the soil.

      @@Mycityplants thank you. Does the same technique applies when plant is planted in lechuza PON only not in the soil?

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  4 года назад

      Yes. We need to wait for 3-4 months for the roots to grow a bit🌱🌱🌱

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  4 года назад

      I prefer to apply this to any potting mix while to roots are adopting to its new environment - Through the potting mix for the first 3-4 months and then switching to self-watering method.

    Hi, I need some help about watering plants for the first 12 weeks. How much water do you use for cubico40 for 3-4 months? How can I figure out the the amount of water amount for other lechuza pots? In regular watering of my plants I leave the water to escape through the hole on the bottom, with self watering I don’t know how much water to use so my plants get enough water. Thank you

      Hi! What type of plant is potted in Cubico 40?

  • @nadiaal-amir823
    @nadiaal-amir823 2 года назад

    what happens if i overfill it and the red stick is all the way to the top of the tube?!

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  2 года назад

      Hi!
      Overfilling in the reservoir might be too much water for some plants + access water can overflow and damaged floors/furniture.
      If it happed a few times it's, OK.
      If it happens every time, overwatering might become an issue.
      If you have a planter model where the cover works as the water reservoir, you my simply lift up the inner pot and empty the water from the cover.
      If you have a planter model where the reservoir is built in, you can try to angle it as much as possible to get rid of the access water without loosing the soil or get the hand pump www.lechuza.us/accessories/hand-pump/19711.html#cgid=Zubehoer
      Green Luck! Thank you for watching 🌱
