    As far as working out, back in Jesus time, they walked a lot more than we do now, the fishermen worked out as part of their jobs, same wirh the carpenters, and their diet was clean, no messed up chemicals and plastics... So no, they didn't focus on health because they were likely not fat at all. They were all probably very lean. Only the rich were fat because of their ability to overindulge.

    Gluttony is a sin. Gluttony leads to obesity. Yes, genetics, age, illness and injury can lead to obesity without being supplemented by gluttony. However most people who are obese cannot use those as excuses for why they are obese therefore they are sinning by being and choosing to stay obese. You have one temple. If you don’t honor it by trying to prolong your life as long as you can you are sinning.

    Jeff the ninja? Luke the bear?
    A huge part of Jeff’s persona is his professional martial arts career.
    A huge part of Luke’s persona is his large size.
    So, when anons on X promote masculinity by weight-lifting and eating healthy, that’s bad?
    But when Apologia men build a persona around being big and tough, that’s perfectly acceptable?
    Right 👌

      @ do they? If that were true, then why not call themselves “Jeff the apologist” or “Luke the faithful?” Or some other theological or spiritual name?
      They purposefully chose those names because of the physical size of Luke and the physicality of Jeff’s martial arts background.
      I actually don’t think it’s wrong to give yourself such a nickname, however I also don’t think it’s wrong for men to lift weights, eat healthy, and call out gluttons.

    • @spartakos3178
      @spartakos3178 4 дня назад

      @usaflambert These men are not saying it's wrong to lift weights... I Iove powerlifting and strongman myself.... however, there is a problem if in valuing being strong... you start to sound like Hitler, Darwin, or Nietsche... and there is a lot of that on the reformed corner of the interwebs right now.

    • @usaflambert
      @usaflambert 4 дня назад

      @ I don’t see that, perhaps you do and I don’t doubt that you do. What I see is men removing the scales from their eyes from decades of government propaganda telling them to follow a food pyramid that causes obesity and disease. People are turning away from the idea that lifting weights and being physically is somehow “toxic masculinity.” And they’re noticing that many of our older leaders who still believe much of the post-WW2 liberal order are very overweight and unhealthy. This shows one of two things: a) they still believe the government lies and refuse to change their eating habits, or b) they are gluttons who lack self-control over their eating habits. This video looks bad on Apologia and Dr. Sandlin. It shows that these guys are incapable of even the slightest rebuke and elevate themselves over the common church parishioner.
      PS: I have been a huge fan and very close follower of Apologia for years. I’ve watched their content, donated lots of money to their causes, and turned many people on to them. However, they are on the wrong-side of this current “brother war” within the reformed church, period.

    Im at 1:30:30, and the commentary there was exactly the commentary given by Aristotle that has been lampooned on X. Joe Boot has had a time with misquoting Aristotle just to prove we shouldn't be lostening to him. The issue with this interview is that all of this gets swept under the rug and ignored because people call what you say g@y and r3t@rded (even though these are words that have been used by Millenials since forever). On one side of this discussion has been an overwhelming lack of desire and discipline to read whats been said and interact with it instead of complaining about "racism", "sexism", and "anti-semitism". This is why you're being mocked. After months of trying to talk, the anons are just tired of being ignired and dismissed over things that have nothing to do with the conversation.

    • @zap0918
      @zap0918 8 дней назад

      You are not an Apostle. You are not an Old Testament Prophet. You are not Christ Jesus. No one on this earth fits *any* of those descriptions today. Mocking is not a Christian trait. It was never commanded for us to partake in. It violates many commands of scripture.
      Sure, you perhaps may disagree with Durbin and company. I do all the time, however, that does *not* give me the right to openly act like the way these people do on social media.
      One day *every single word and every single action* will have to be given an account for. Including taking the side of those people violating Christian principles in their communication to, and their treatment of others. That is something that everyone needs to think about. If you die today and have to give an account of your life, including social media, where will you stand? That thought should frighten anyone.
      *For the record: This is not directed at you specifically, but anyone that defends the actions of Anons or thinks that mocking is alright to do to people.*

      @@zap0918 in fact, we are given examples on mocking people, and Proverbs is replete with examples of mocking fools who refuse to listen. It is the actions of people who recognize something and point out that problem, and other walk headlong into the problem, knowing its there. The anons on x are mostly unregenerate at best culturally Christian Eastern Orthodoxy leaning bros. There's like one internet famous account that's got laser eyes and 1689 Baptist in his bio and you can't convince me this is all over that one account. When I read comments on these types of videos all I see is "I'm not aware of what's going on over there on X" or "I'm not on X" but yet everyone seems to just agree with these guys. • @AleksandrGrankin
      @AleksandrGrankin 5 дней назад

      That's why he said that if a boy has a good father he well naturally grow up to be a man. And by "good father" it is implied that the father will teach his son to be a man. No contradiction here, Dough is just emphasizing the teaching role of the father.

    • @mamimalista7924
      @mamimalista7924 5 дней назад

      @ “Masculinity is not a role to be recovered, but a natural existence.”
      If this is trues then why write so many books about masculinity, like “Is Good to Be A Man,” why write “Even in Exile” for woman?
      If the boy needs a father to teach him by observation the role of a man, then he needs a man to teach him how to be a man. What happens if the boy doesn’t have a father, he will need a father figure (a masculine figure,) therefore the boy needs a man to teach him how to be a man. Masculine and femininity need to be recovered, because they entail more than just being born one or the other. This is one of the reasons we need mothers and fathers. We have lost the virtues that make a masculine man and a feminine woman, and they need to be recovered.
      Why criticize the men looking for masculine figures if they want to become a better man?

      The kind of masculinity that’s being taught has a pagan aesthetic. There are RUclips channels that dedicate to going after Norse/Celtic/Baltic/Slavic paganism of old because of how masculine it is perceived to be. The point is to go away from Christianity because it made men and the West “weak” according to them.

    • @baj3085
      @baj3085 8 дней назад

      @@RexNicolaus We aren't supposed to admire our Christian fathers masculinity either. We can't admire Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Gideon, David, or Josiah because they had multiple wives. We can't admire Martin Luther because he was "anti-semitic" and used "harsh unloving language towards Rome". We can't admire Stonewall Jackson, Robert E Lee, RL Dabney, or even George Washington because of slavery. We can't admire Richard the Lionheart, Duke Godfrey, Skanderbeg, El Cid, St. Louis, John Hunyadi, or Jon Sobieski, because of the "crusades".
      We also shouldn't admire the apostles. After all Paul must have been "racist" because he showed "ethnic partiality" toward his unbelieving Jewish brethren, and criticized the Cretins based on their ethno-cultural stereotype.
      Don't get me started talking about the Man in Revelation chapter one with flaming eyes, a voice like the roar of many waters, and a face like the shining sun. After all, He does criticize some people as a "synagogue of Satan" in His letter to the church at Smyrna.

      Yeah, it's amazing how Durbin and White will GLADLY debate a homosexual "pastor" who affirms homosexuality and claimed Jesus sinned and had to repent for His sin, or two atheists who mock God, but Stone Choir is a bridge too far. It tells me they don't care if Brandan Robertson's views are allowed to circulate, but they sure are worried if SC's views get out there. They could just as easily have them on to discuss the issues they're concerned with. We'll see.
