🗣PSA PSA PSA I finally filmed the Q&A for this bed! In the Q&A video I answer some of the most frequently asked questions, and give more specific details on measurements and how things are going now. Watch here ruclips.net/video/ZbmzB_IT28k/видео.html! The link is also in the description. Thank you all!
If you take out one shelf of the cube organizer, you could get underneath and hang fairylights or something, and maybe throw a couple pillows underneath and make a chill spot
SweetestCyn Should also leave some thin ply wood inside for the kids to pull towards the unit. And add Velcro straps for it to attach to the unit. In case anything happens.
It seems like there's wasted storage space underneath. I'd like to figure out a way to use 2 pcs of plywood with maybe a piano hinge so it can be lifted up (long term storage like xmas decorations, dead bodies lol). I like the concept.
Thank you! Yessssss I love the idea of the piano hinge to be able to lift up the bed to get to the middle! There is lots of wasted space on the other side sense our room isn't big enough for the bed to come off the far wall. Definitely wish we should have thought of that hinge though. Right now we just keep bulky things like blankets under there lol
I actually did this and I have to say I love it so much. I have an extremely small room and this bed is my only furniture in my room it takes up most of my room and I don’t have it against a wall so I can use all the cubes and that bed is like a dresser for me as well. Also the 4 cube one by my feet is not connected so I use the middle under part as storage space.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
@@TheCrookedBrains I keep reading this on these DIY bed videos and now I'm pissed because I bought a platform bed with drawers and its literally just a box frame with 4 sheets of finished wood on top with no gaps or holes for ventilation at all....
I really want to make this but I would replace the cubes at the foot of the bed with just a cupboard with no backing so I could use the storage space underneath
Otaku Taco that would make for super easy access! For now we only put blankets under there so we can pull and push them through the Cubes. Love your idea!
If you move the one 4 cube to the top of the bed and make a makeshift door out of some plywood or something - paint it white to match. Then you have under bed storage for shoes, and extra comforters & pillows. :)
Had this exact idea.. But instead of wasting money for the 2 along the wall, will mount a rail on the wall..and will also be able to use the space underneath for various activities!
Defo use the other boxes at wall side...use the end of bed as a crawl space so ya can get underneath to cubes ...loads of storage there...or some sort of idea to lift up base to access underneath...my sister done this few years bk it's brilliant
Thank you Angela I really appreciate this video I had been worrying how to do this for my daughter. She loves to collect beautiful things, but I want them back in her room.... Amazing
My daughter and I who is 32 yrs old, who pays half of all bills, just moved into an old trailer built in 1976 and her room is so....small. She has a big old closet but no shelves, for organization, but this idea would be a start in organizing her room. The closet will need to wait for my next idea. Thanks for ur post it helped me out.
I have the smallest room in my house. Love this idea. I’m just gonna have to adopt it for like a twin/full bed maybe. Gonna be my mini dorm room. So glad you took the time to post and explain. Thanks
Out of all the DIY platform beds videos that i watched, I really enjoyed your Ikea/Walmart hack. I'm leaning towards using yours, but using sheet of plywood as my support instead. Thanks again!
Thinking of trying it with the 4 by 3 sized ones , one either sided length ways and two at the end width ways. So you have 12 deep boxes at the foot of the bed.
Thank you for this video! I have a very small bedroom and because of you I now have tons of space! I utilized the storage against the wall for things I don't use everyday. Winter clothes, important papers, and it's been great. Then I have 2 of the these long storage containers that I put in the.middle with extra blankets and linens. So I have been able to utilize all of my extra space. I didn't screw my 2x4's into the unit. I got some cloth strips and connected them together. That way I can access the inside when I need to. But thanks again! I was worried it wouldn't support my weight, since I'm not a skinny thang but it's been great. I tried to use my box spring the first night and it was great other then it was way too high. And ty for the q and a as well. Take care!
I love your attitude, you are just the sweetest! You've inspired me to do it this way, because I also have no Ikea in sight! Thank you for your time and upload! Best wishes!
I used to live in South Georgia too (Valdosta to be exact, I’m in Atlanta for college now but still go back for breaks and stuff) and I didn’t even know what Ikea was until like high school when I started really getting into RUclips 😅

It made me miss my husband who passed in 2003 of Brain Cancer, which are tears of joy because he was an awesome husband and father. Great job guys. Looking forward to more videos. Be blessed. 😇
I highly recommend this and it’s not that expensive to do if you already have a mattress. I think I spent about close to $500 on mine. I did do a completely different color for the organizer wood. I think the color I got from ikea is called grey walnut. Look up that if you thinking about doing this it’s really nice.
If you make another one you should definitely put a hinge on the bottom of the beds storage that way you can open it and be able to store things inside it 😊
I really like how this turned out! Great alternative for a dresser when you have minimal space in a room. Shout out to y'all for the teamwork! It's such a blessing to have a hubby that is good with tool 🤎🤎

Awesome.....I actually have those cubes. Walmart had them marked wrong so I have 5 and paid 11.88 each....but I dont know if you still have it up, but they have a thin queen size box spring. I'm going to try this when I move
Should you attached the stairs beside the shelf ? It will be safer ? Not sure how you go to bathroom at night. Lol I would be scared of falling off the bed ...
Cool DIY if I were to do this, I would've had the other storage slots facing towards the wall instead of inward just in case I decided to change the position of the bed. And I would use a sheet of plywood. TFS!
So glad I came across your vid. It is the simplest, most direct approach. It provides open and “hidden” storage. Really inspiring! I think I’ll use plywood instead of 2x4’s, but otherwise, terrific! TTFS
Thank you so much for this video! I have been looking to buy a queen sized bed that has underbed storage but they never have as much storage as I want. THIS is so perfect for what I want. It looks like an absolute dream. You two are so lovely too.
Gonna try this for my 5 year old ..minus the shelf at the foot of the bed so she’ll have a fort area to put her beanbag and reading light ..quiet relaxing place for her to chill.
I think it's a cool Idea to repurpose some old bookshelves, if you already have them but it doesn't make sense to buy new ones just to waste all the storage space underneath & against the wall.
I love this idea. I've been looking for a new bed frame. I'm moving into a studio apartment. And this is SUPER PERFECT because it also gives you storage. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!! For doing this video.
Love this idea. I’d probably leave off the cube shelves at the end of the bed so I could crawl under and use the shelves along the wall for storage for items I won’t need to access on a regular basis. Do you think it would be sturdy enough without the cube at the base?
Katrina it could be if you put one at the top and jus plywood so it’s sturdy and make sure to use the brackets they used to keep it together so it’s safe
Katrina Yes! I agree with what Abbi said. You could use the same concept but switch it. We don’t have a cube at the head of our bed, so you could place yours there and leave the end open like you said. Add plywood and still use the brackets. We may turn our bed around one day for this reason lol
Just a couple suggestions...a sheet of 3/4” plywood instead if 2x4 would be sturdy enough for a foundation. And they make flat metal strapping to connect the pieces that aren’t in the corners. You did a great job. And love that it didn’t have to be from ikea as many do not have one near them.
🗣 PSA! I feel like y’all really want this, so I’m gonna film a FAQ/update video for the bed!! We made the bed a year ago, posted this video 8 months ago! I like it! When i build mine im going to flip the cubes the other way and make a little cubby for my dog. She army crawls under my bed right now anyways 🤷♀️lol
I really loved it ,it also gave me an idea as I saw the empty middle space of the inside to buy wood nd measure it nd make it connect to the other side u can use it to store blankets or shoes, lol did I make sence
Thank God I seen this video cause in Kansas ain't no IKEA around either so yea thanks for this video love the team effort and love in this video and your personality is totally awesome new subscriber!! #thankyall!!
Sherica Sanders thank you! I guess I should of said not within driving distance(like up the street) like Walmart is which would be more convenient for me since it's one on each side of town!
I checked the website bc I wanted to build a small little door instead of the shelves on the end, and it says 15.35x 30.16. So if I were to build that size, I can have a little room under?
Jzovana Ramos still going strong!!! I love the cube organizers and the fabric baskets too. It was the best thing we did for our small bedroom! Congratulations on your growing family 💕💕💕
Thanks for the idea I was going to get a dresser but I’m a minimalist and the dresser I got is to big for my stuff and I already have a 6x2 in my room for my books, so making a bed with storage would help for folded clothes and niknaks and the space I was gonna use for the dresser I would use for a desk !
Thank you for that great video. I have to move out of a very spacious apartment to a much smaller one. The problem will be the door frames are to small to allow a queen size box in. Was looking for just an idea such as this.
Love this! gonna give a try. Gonna use ply wood vs the 2x4 though I think. It's for a twin. Maybe 2-8 storage shelves side by side will work. Worth a shot
Love it! My hubby & I are looking to do a similar project. So has this bed been pretty sturdy for you? We like to wrestle a lot! 😉 Thanks for sharing this great idea!
Thank you! It's super sturdy! We also wrestle a lot lol and we haven't had any problems! Another commenter suggested we reinforce the middle with cross beams for support though , so that may be something to think about if you are going to try this!
That is very neat and cool and creative really nice. I made my own bed frame but I didn't post it to RUclips but the next time I make another one I will be sure to share with RUclips. It was a platform bed so I used plywood and wood as well. I don't know if this has ever happened to you or anybody that slept on your bed that you made in this videom....... but I noticed without the box spring over my bed frame and only placing the mattress on top of the two by fours/wood.....I had a very expensive mattress and so comfortable and I didn't know it until I started having back problems and I wasn't really getting good sleep due to the back problem which was just pain and aches tossing and turning all night and I said well hey let me check out what kind of mattress this is from the seller who sold it to me to find out that it was actually a great mattress so then I went and bought a box spring and I was like well maybe a box spring will make my mattress work the way it's designed to work and as well I wanted my bed to be higher than it was since it was a platform bed frame.) Turned out adding a boxspring brought the true beauty out in my mattress. But I'm just mentioning this to you and asked you the question because I wanted to put that out there since I do notice that your bed is very high and you did not place a box spring on top of the platform before the mattress if you notice any back issues or sleeping issues with the bed.
Is there a more natural wood cube shelf ? I want to do this with a future full bed but I have a more bohemian dark theme going on and I love a natural wood look. Really need this 🤎
Awesome video. Was thinking for your extra storage space. Maybe use it for your winter clothing then all you have to do is go under there maybe couple times of the year. Again awesome video!!
I absolutely love this project you guys did. I think that you should have made the bed to be able to be lifted up so you could be able to you to utilize all the wasted space underneath the mattress. I know that ikea has some has a video on this. However I still love it and think you guys did a marvelous job and under budget wake cheaper than Ikea would have been.
I was thinking of doing a pallet bed, but this is the ULTIMATE IDEA for exactly what I want to do! THANKING YOU ALL THE WAY UP NORTH IN OHIO! (NEW RESIDENT)
OMG, thank you so much I was trying to find a good platform bed with lot of storage and not expensive, I didn't think of this not one bit, I'm always down for DIY's, again thank you so much im doing this DIY tomorrow.
So you bought two 8 cube shelves and three 4 cube shelves but how are you able to get to the other storage that's underneath the bed next to the wall. There's no opening and I don't think you would want to crawl through one of those squares to get to it so how do you do that. Do you us the other squares under the bed or is it just lost storage space?
Angela HD girl you’re welcome us #SmallRUclipsrs have to stick together and I am loving you and that bed. I want to make my own storage bed too but idk where to start, and that’s how I stumbled across you! Anyway girl, keep up the good work !!!
SpiffyNique that’s right girl!!! Thank you so much! Omg I’m so glad you found this and it helped you!! We attempted to purchase from IKEA online and the shipping along with the actual cost was atrocious! Walmart does free two day!!!! Pleaaaaaasse share if you decide to do this project!!!
Angela HD girl yes, for ikea to be cheap it’s very expensive when it comes to buying online. The only one close to me is probably 3/4 hours away and it’s never that deep to be driving that far lol. I will definitely have to try your back !
Thank you. I'm going to make my son a bed. He's so tall and he likes the storage beds so he can store his book collection, so I'm going to try this. Wish me blessings.

Cool DIY if I were to do this, I would've had the other storage slots facing towards the wall instead of inward just in case I decided to change the position of the bed. And I would use a sheet of plywood. TFS!
Taste Of A Berry our room is so small! We had one option 😂 But you’re welcome, thanks for watching 🤗
So glad I came across your vid. It is the simplest, most direct approach. It provides open and “hidden” storage. Really inspiring! I think I’ll use plywood instead of 2x4’s, but otherwise, terrific! TTFS
Been looking for this to elevate bed to see out window. On tenth floor with great view!!! Live in tiny studio apt.
ouuuu sounds beautiful!!!
Absolutely love this and the team work!!!
Is it safe to have sex on 😂😂😂 asking for a friend
AllofCher sis. YES. Very safe. Passed all the tests. 🌚
Lmao
That was going to be my question 😂
Victoria Brown girlllll 😭😭😂😂😂 I feel more confident coz sis said passed all the tests 😩😩 I’m hollered
@@AngelaSharnice failed the first time that's why they had to change the wood, duh lol
Thank you so much for this video! I have been looking to buy a queen sized bed that has underbed storage but they never have as much storage as I want. THIS is so perfect for what I want. It looks like an absolute dream. You two are so lovely too.
Thank you!!! Yes it really was a lovely build! Keep the end open somehow so that you can access the space underneath!
I was thinking of doing that. Could be a great spot for my cat.
For a second I was like how in tf is she gonna get on that bed
LOLOL valid
Gonna try this for my 5 year old ..minus the shelf at the foot of the bed so she’ll have a fort area to put her beanbag and reading light ..quiet relaxing place for her to chill.
Girl You Are A Genius. I Want To Try This For My Daughter & Myself Lol
Brianna Denice lol yes try it! It’s so cool and convenient!
@@AngelaSharnice i saw a couple were it had a play area under for kids. Such a great idea.
I think it's a cool Idea to repurpose some old bookshelves, if you already have them but it doesn't make sense to buy new ones just to waste all the storage space underneath & against the wall.
I like the ingenuity - but for safety, you'll want to use cross beams for support...
alexhortdog95 thank you! I appreciate the tip and will keep it in mind
Thank you all for watching and supporting and making us laugh in the comment section. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR QUESTIONS IN A REPLY TO THIS COMMENT so they don’t get lost.
It’s all love! 🌻

The outcome was amazing🗣
How wide is the matress?
I’ll be ordering the parts next week, would I use the same amount of parts for a full size ?
Does the bed frame feel sturdy in you know "naughty time" lol Me and bae both a little chunky and I dont wana fall through. Thanks in advance
Can we get measurements
Cute ! I’m getting ready to do this for my content room
I like it! When i build mine im going to flip the cubes the other way and make a little cubby for my dog. She army crawls under my bed right now anyways 🤷♀️lol
Madison Hart omg if that is your dog on your pfp imma cry lol my dog is a German and she does that too lmaooo they have it in their nature 😭😭
I'm gonna do it for my cats 😊
I really loved it ,it also gave me an idea as I saw the empty middle space of the inside to buy wood nd measure it nd make it connect to the other side u can use it to store blankets or shoes, lol did I make sence
Thank God I seen this video cause in Kansas ain't no IKEA around either so yea thanks for this video love the team effort and love in this video and your personality is totally awesome new subscriber!! #thankyall!!
Tisha Johnson I live in Kansas and we do have an Ikea. Also there is one in St Louis as well.
Sherica Sanders thank you! I guess I should of said not within driving distance(like up the street) like Walmart is which would be more convenient for me since it's one on each side of town!
Tisha Johnson ok. Yes in Olathe alone I know of three within five minutes! They are going crazy with Walmarts lol!
Yea it’s an ikea in Kansas I live in kansas
I checked the website bc I wanted to build a small little door instead of the shelves on the end, and it says 15.35x 30.16. So if I were to build that size, I can have a little room under?
If you have a queen like we did here and leave the end open I think it would work. Just triple check your measurement of course!
How is the bed holding up? Me and my husband and looking to do this. Have babies on the way and need all the room we can get. Was your bed a queen??
Jzovana Ramos still going strong!!! I love the cube organizers and the fabric baskets too. It was the best thing we did for our small bedroom! Congratulations on your growing family 💕💕💕
@@AngelaSharnice is your bed a queen?
@@ashleyfierro-jordan473 she mentioned it under another comment. It is a queen indeed! :)
I would leave that front 4 cube removable and use the side by the wall for like out of season clothing storage . Anywhooo this is cuteeee 💕💕
yes girl, super versatile design! thank you 😊
Favorite part of the video the guy running up to the bed like he was bout to square up 😂😂 I played it like 10 times
😂 gotta love it
Thanks for the idea I was going to get a dresser but I’m a minimalist and the dresser I got is to big for my stuff and I already have a 6x2 in my room for my books, so making a bed with storage would help for folded clothes and niknaks and the space I was gonna use for the dresser I would use for a desk !
Happy building!
IM GETTING MY ROOM REDONE AND THIS IS THE PERFECT ADDITION 💛💛💛
Yasssss! Perfect timing!
Thank you for that great video. I have to move out of a very spacious apartment to a much smaller one. The problem will be the door frames are to small to allow a queen size box in. Was looking for just an idea such as this.
Nice job Angela!!! 🙌🏻
HandyDadTV thank you!!! I absolutely love the bed you built for your daughter!
Love this! gonna give a try. Gonna use ply wood vs the 2x4 though I think. It's for a twin. Maybe 2-8 storage shelves side by side will work. Worth a shot
Happy building!
LOL! Thanks for the reply sweetie! Love it! ♡✌
“They’re made with love” aww my heart he cares so much❤️
Love the vibes your bringing to the RUclips community ❤️🔥
Thank you!
You are so pretty and very organized
OCD___ ASPEN awww shucks! Thank you! 🤗🤗🤗
Is there a more natural wood cube shelf ? I want to do this with a future full bed but I have a more bohemian dark theme going on and I love a natural wood look. Really need this 🤎
This was such a great idea for a small room and EXTRA storage space! Thx :)
Tre For The People thank you!!!
I love this 😀
I have a queen size bed also and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
I was thinking of doing a pallet bed, but this is the ULTIMATE IDEA for exactly what I want to do! THANKING YOU ALL THE WAY UP NORTH IN OHIO! (NEW RESIDENT)
You’re so positive ily 💕💕
awwww! Thank you so much! Love you back!
OMG, thank you so much I was trying to find a good platform bed with lot of storage and not expensive, I didn't think of this not one bit, I'm always down for DIY's, again thank you so much im doing this DIY tomorrow.
Have fun!!! I hope it works out for you!
I would have used the single organizer shelf as steps
So you bought two 8 cube shelves and three 4 cube shelves but how are you able to get to the other storage that's underneath the bed next to the wall. There's no opening and I don't think you would want to crawl through one of those squares to get to it so how do you do that. Do you us the other squares under the bed or is it just lost storage space?
Only 2 mins into the video and I am loving your energy!! Definitely subscribing 💜
SpiffyNique awwwwww!!! Thank you so much! You boostin me up and I love it cause clearly I’m extra 😂😂
I will definitely have to try your back !
say that! All the facts lol! I can't wait to see your results girl!
To access underneath you could leave off the end shelves and put two cabinet doors.
You sure could!
Both of you guys sleep on it right?
Does it bend inwards?
Brithany F yes, we both do. It doesn’t bend at all once we replaced the palette wood with the 2x4s!
@@AngelaSharnice 😂 I'm glad you did u can just see you falling inside if decide get it on.
Katherine Canon 😂😂😂😂😂 that would be terrible! We don’t need any accidents lol
Thank you. I'm going to make my son a bed. He's so tall and he likes the storage beds so he can store his book collection, so I'm going to try this. Wish me blessings.
How did it go?
This is so cool!! You showed the process v well thanks for the vid 😁
Julia Barbosa you’re so welcome! Thanks for watching Julia!
So Cute!! I wonder if I could find 1x4 or 1x6 cubes to do this with. I wouldn't like the bed to be that tall, but otherwise, I love that!
Yes we only took it down because we got tired of climbing 😂😂😂
