The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She will melt your heart with her sweet expression and affectionate ways. She loves to play and romp, as well as spending time with you and the family on the sofa. Her mood is calm, and her approach gentle, especially with children. When out and about she behaves well, barking very little and digging infrequently.
Many say she is simply the perfect house pet, but she comes alive outside too. Happiest when she is exploring and sniffing around, she really shows the Spaniel side when she darts off to chase something! Personable with other dogs, pets and strangers, she certainly won’t embarrass you in public.
As for care, she needs a daily walk - a fair distance on a lead or a bit of rough and tumble round the garden will do. That stunning long coat requires quite a bit of attention though, she needs to be brushed every other day to keep her comfortable.
Training the pups is a pleasant experience, her personality making it quite a rewarding and pleasurable affair. She will turn into a reasonably effective watchdog too, only she won’t be so good on the attack - in other words, there won’t be one!
Interesting facts: During the 16th century these dogs were used as living hot water bottles, often serving as foot, lap or bed warmers. A wealthy American offered the English a prize for the best pointed-nosed dogs, which is why they have a longer snout than the standard King Charles Spaniel!
