I'm glad you reminded people to remember to account for the thickness of the material, when I started working out the dimensions of mine I almost forgot, this is a good video.
Hi their i was trying to build a Japanese Fuigo, would really aprishade if you could share the measurements of the 2 critical dimension sticks that you used in the project, that would really help me in my project. thanks
The only thing critical about the dimension is that the hole it slides through matches the diameter of the stick! So you can use any diameter you want, so long as the material is strong enough to hold up to the strain, and then just make sure that the hole it slides through allows for nice, smooth movement.
I have built a few years ago, they work great If I did another one ,it would be covered in formica first and then cut to size the formica would make the piston slide real real easy.I covered the pistol with shop rags and lubes the inside with car wax.
That's it! I'm making that for my dirt-box forge! I was going to try building a crank blower out of wood (and I still might) but I'm definitely building this design first!
Great instructions! I agree that the one way valves are better if glued. Staples in leather, which is acidic, will rust out eventually so the valves could fall apart.
Given the unifier on the side of the exit holes, there will only ever be positive pressure blowing outward to the tuyere, so there'd be no chance of that ever happening - that being said, this one is going to be hooked up to a long flexible aluminium hose that will go to a bottom blast forge! It's for one of my students.
Very interesting, cheap and easy build Alex. And as you suggested this general concept could be adapted and built to any standard or size required, depending on the materials you have at hand or can afford. Thanks for sharing mate. Cheers Andy 👍⚒
Thank you for providing such a great video an these bellows as it has allowed my wife and myself to produce a smaller version for the meat smoker that im turning into a charcoal forge im really looking forward to using this as i find that using electric blowers used a lot of electricity and the crank style are very expensive for someone on a limited budget i used marine ply that i had just sitting in my shed
Hello, my wife built a modified blow beam for me and surprised me with it. My engines are all too weak and do not reach the right temperature that I need for forging. that really frustrated me. The fan is amazing, I'm really motivated to forge and try new things. We have affectionately called it "the mammoth" because it sounds like a roaring mammoth 😄
I've seen the same one! It's a great way to do it, but the point of this video is how to do it very simply with inexpensive materials. Plexiglass (at least here in Australia) is quite expensive!
When you first said that there will be two exhaust or output holes, I was confused. Everything else worked logically, except those. My question would have been: why two holes? Why wouldn't there just be one? I couldn't really see why it would be an issue to just remove that center piece and have a single output. I decided to wait to see if I was wrong, and there was a reason to have both of them, but then you added that little union piece, and I'm just more confused why there were two holes to begin with, I don't see a reason for them. Even if that center piece was for strength or something, you could have two with holes in them that split the inner box into three sections, but since the separators will have holes in them, they could still have a single exhaust/output in the center of the side. I feel like making the two holes and the external union is just more work than making it with one output, and both (it would appear to me) would achieve the same goal, and you wouldn't have to sacrifice anything to do one or the other. If I'm missing something, please explain it.
A japanese 'fuigo' is a bellows for fire while the Spanish word for fire is fuego.. pronounced very similarly. Just a coincidence or ancient linguistic transfer?
Start your own channel and make videos then and stop bothering me on mine. You're acting like I owe you something. This is a social media platform, and I can make whatever videos in whatever style I want. Bugger off and find another channel.
Its called a FURIGO not a FORGE BLOWER . The sliding panel is covered with BEAR fur gadget seal . This makes a much better seal . A violin resin fine powder is used to make the Sliding panel move very slickly . Yours is way to clumsy for air control .
Why do you feel entitled to have everything laid out for you? The purpose of the video isn't to give you a step-by-step guide on how to do it. Figure it out for yourself.
The dogs bollocks mate.👍

Great build, turned out really well despite that curly plywood! Petroleum jelly/vaseline is a good grease for use on wood.
Wood absorbs though

Good job
Thanks
Like the build, will have to give this a try
Looks great Alex!
Great 👍
You will want one way valves on the outside of the tueyere holes to prevent the chance of sucking an ember in. Interesting way of going about it!

I somehow thought, you would use goose or chicken feathers to seal it up. Glued in with pine or birch tar. Was entertaining and fun to watch.
Wondering who makes the Australian blower... if they still do?
There's an Australian brand I know of called "Rapid". I don't think they still manufacture them, though.
Woo! Alex content!
WEEB alex content :P
Clothes dryers work well too😉
Like a big tumble dryer?
lives in Tasmania and makes it out of old pallets and plywood - the local mob will be coming for you tonight :) - excellent job though!
Haha whys that? Because it's not made of Blackwood and Sassafras? 🤣
@@ValhallaIronworks exactly!
He used a Tasmanian devil rag, that should make up for the choice of wood.

good stuff :) FYI I have seen one that is lined with Plexiglas instead of using grease

@@ValhallaIronworks cool :)
So if I wanted home depot to do all the cuts for me, what measurements would I need to give them?
The dimensions don't matter. Just the features.
Your video found a machinist. What if it were aluminum, made with CNC equipment? 100% air flow?
It'd be frikkin amazing if it was haha
A piece of inner tyre tube is the best material for a valve my friend
Anything that performs the function of a valve is the best material for a valve
Looks great question could you use bees 2ax instead of Greece
Many people do, but I find it too sticky

No real reason. Just how I built it.
@@ValhallaIronworks Ok, I just wanted to make sure.
lol shaft with gobs of grease the piston hole lol ....... all about to Lubricate the wood .
Oooooh yeaahhhhhh
Svp please les dimentions
J'ai fait celui-ci 40x40x80cm - mais vous pouvez les faire en plusieurs tailles.

ooh now that's an interesting question!
I think the word for bread is the same in both languages as well.
I.wood take double lung bellows over those, i can work them.with pinky, and top.chambwr inhaled is 10 seconds, when you stop forging.
Im wearing the tactix headset as well Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi

51 minutes of explaining the basics you suggested one needs for the build. After all,it is a box with holes, bloody hell mate.
