    Um, I don't think Gideon's Sacrifice returns to your hand with Feather, because Feather says the spell specifically has to target a creature you control, and Gideon's Sacrifice doesn't actually target anything, it says "CHOOSE a creature or planeswalker you control..."

      It does not work since Feather is looking for cards that say target and Gideon's Sacrifice says choose, its almost the same but it does not work. If you want to try it out, you can use arena and see that it does not not work. Or try to find somone who has tried it.

    • @piralos1329
      @piralos1329 3 года назад +15

      @@blaze556922 Choose very specifically isn't target, and this also matters within the rules for creatures with Hexproof and Shroud. A good example of this is the card "Council's Judgement", which has each player choose, rather than targetting. This lets it get around hexproof cards and protection as well, which is brutal against voltron decks. Gideon's Sacrifice doesn't work, unfortunately.
      That said, if you do want a really solid repeatable fog, try out Intimidation Bolt! If you target your own creature, you can just lock an opponent out of ever being able to attack, for just 3 mana. And, because it only does 3 damage, it doesn't even kill feather!

  • @spencersonnier1
    @spencersonnier1 3 года назад +17

    Another fog like effect to replace Gideon’s Intervention would be Intimidation Bolt. 1RW for an instant. Deals 2 damage to a creature and says that other creatures can’t attack this turn. Ding off one of your tokens and then stop your opponent from being able to attack you.
    Also it’s been suggested already but Livewire Lash is a great equipment for a deck that wants to target its own creatures.
    EDIT: This deck needs Impact Resonance. That card can wipe out entire battlefields if timed correctly

    a neat card i've found to be a really "gotcha!" card in Feather is Patrician's Scorn. Someone tries to remove Feather, you protect it with a white protection spell, then before end of turn you cast a free "clear the board of all pesky enchantments".

    • @WillisPtheone
      @WillisPtheone 3 года назад +4

      I love this. People often let people keep enchantments they really should not. I will try to stay away from mana rocks but every enchantment that another player is playing is advancing their position far more then 1 or 2 mana. A free enchant wipe that you can play at any time for the cost of advancing your own game is awesome.

    Two other cards I think belong in Feather the Redeemed deck:
    - "Open the Armory": Sunforger is such a powerhouse in this deck, that having an extra card to help getting it faster is a must.
    - "Livewire Lash" is another equipment which helps getting rid of blockers or utility creatures.

    Please, please, if you're going to be making a Feather deck, play more lands. I can't tell you how many Feather builds I've seen running crazy low numbers like 34, 32, 30 lands.
    Feather is a very mana-hungry deck. It needs to get to at least 4 mana BEFORE deploying Feather (3 to cast Feather, 1 to protect her, otherwise your opponents will punish you). Not only that, even if the spells are 1 mana you want to be casting multiple spells on every person's turn. This means you need to be hitting every single land drop from turn 1 till the game is over. Running too few lands is not going to help there.

    • @WillisPtheone
      @WillisPtheone 3 года назад +2

      This! I treat Feather like a storm deck and only ever attack with her if its going to be lethal. You need that mana. Play the tiny cantrips and repeat the same few cards only revealing the BIG pumps like Rampage and Double Cleave for finishers. If you draw too much attention you are very vulnerable to being hated out of the game entirely. Also ALL of the cantrips digging to those protection spells is a must and I always find that I would rather give up some pump or a extra like haste first strike etc for Draw a Card. If you do not have a way to protect Feather yet save the mana and cast the cantrips on all three of your opponents turns do not swing in with her unless you can keep her safe. She WILL be targeted down. Unless you get a way to protect her in the opening hand expect to cast her get value and then need to cast her again on your next turn. If you do not have RWW in your opening hand then mulligan 99% of the deck is playable with a red and a white but without that second white you are dead in the water. a 5/4 hand of RWW and any other 2/1 card(s) is better then any 6 or 7 with out RWW. RWW Ramp Cantrip Protection Utility is your best opening hand get Feather out t3 and cast the cantrip end of turn before your t4 leaving the mana open for the protection. Set prioirity on casting things like guttersnipe and cantrips until you have the big plays. No Max Hand Size is your friend.

  • @vincenzoorasi2498
    @vincenzoorasi2498 3 года назад +4

    A couple of considerations:
    -Aurelia's fury is absurdly good in feather. It's a 4 mana repeatable silence on an opponent of your choice every turn rotation, more once you reach 8 mana. Against certain decks is a wincon on its own. In 3 players it also allows you to lock one player out of the game while punching the second and eliminating them swiftly. I reeeally wouldn't cut it
    -Magnetic theft is amazing here, you grab it with sunforger as the first spell, and then it cuts down the cost of sunforger to 3 instead of 5, and also allows you to use sunforger more than once per turn rotation.
    -feather really isn't a low mana deck. Its curve may be low, but having to leave open so much mana for protection spells, plus wanting to cast a cantrip every turn, makes it so you want to have around 3-4 open mana at the end of your turn. Plus if they kill feather just once you have to wait a long time to have the mana to recast it with protection open. A couple of rounds of blinking solemn simulacrum will fix all of your problems

    • @Seergun
      @Seergun 3 года назад

      1) like you mention later, this deck is surprisingly mana hungry, and for full protection, you'd need 12 mana. Also, its not a full silence, just non creatures
      2) if it wasnt $4(probably _because_ of Feather tbo...), but I agree
      3) agree again, especially if you run the blink/flicker effects. Hell, kor cartographer might be worth it

    • @marcccreates

      Yeh I agree with this, I think maybe not enough time was spent on how it could be used to silence people. For my list it seems great but worth for others to at least test and see if it works well in their play group or adds value to the play style they might like.

    Ooooo, some of the cards in this deck I may include in my budget league deck for Feather for a LGS in my home town. I like that equipment that boosts the equipped creature. Thanks for doing the video. :)

  • @Seergun
    @Seergun 3 года назад +5

    My list probably looks more like yours. I started with the heroic stuff, but didn't like it, so switched more to the voltron strategy.
    My point being I disagree with removing the weaker versions of guttersnipe, but for this version I can accept it, since you can focus more on the tokens.
    Also, especially with this list keeping more heroic creatures, mild surprised you didn't mention eerie interlude as a fun protection spell.

  • @Antare5
    @Antare5 3 года назад +7

    So I actually tried to make my Feather deck a Vorthos deck.
    Feather was rescued by Krenko, so Krenko tin street kingpin goes in
    All of my creatures not counting Krenko (and young pyromancer because I've never played it and wanted to) are actual Boros creatures with Aurelia the warleader, Tajic legion's edge, Tenth District Legionnaire etc.
    And Feather returned to the legion after finding the Parhelion and Aurelia allowed her to fly amidst the firemane angels again, so I have Indomitable Creativity to search out Parhelion II. Which I hope to accomplish someday.
    I'm also running Chance for Glory, so I think it's fair to say I am *not* upping the average with my build haha

  • @MitchieB
    @MitchieB 3 года назад +1

    An equipment I like for Feather is Explorer's Scope. For me it's a budget Sword of the Animist, it doesn't pump and doesn't let you fetch a land but if the top card is a land it still puts it into play tapped. Pair it with 1 cmc scry effects and it helps me churn through the deck a little bit better.

    some of the cards i value in a budget feather: some blink spells like 'otherwordly journey' and 'long road home' = these spells avoid almost any removal (sacrifice, board wipes, -1 -1 counters, bounces, exiles) unlike just a hexproof, or just a indestructable., also can be used as removal combined with containment priest.
    other one is 'precursor golem' a verrryy cheapp card., which makes use of any of your instants even without feather., use 1 mana cantrip and draw 3 cards? use a +3+3 before damage and get a 3 6/6 golem dealing 18 damage out of nowhere., worst case scenario is it can soak up a removal that could have targeted feather.,
    more expensive side: dockside , recruiter of the guard, chromatic lantern., and a cute combo of mana geyser (or smothering tithe in play) , reforge the soul, underworld breech, angel's grace for a mill win :)), or a storm aetherflux ., these individual cards are good on their own even without the combo.,

    I personally run a more voltron strat for the deck as well however I go less on the pump style of play and more on the defensive and controlling style of play. The heroic creatures that I run are ones that can give me a wide board so I'm not wide open for attacks from other players.
    Solemn 100% stays in for me since there are several flicker style effects that are taken advantage of in the deck. I can usually out ramp even the lands matter style decks to have a very storm style finish. The more mana you have means the more spells you can sling during each players post combat main phase. The deck runs several low impact spells and being able to cast more of them each turn can be very critical.

    I'm sad not to see Walking Atlas - this has been an all-star in my Feather deck, frequently ramping me even past some green decks. When you're drawing 5+ cards a turn, dumping extra lands into play and being able to cast more spells is great.

      @@jovismarshall Good card, and I use it in my Tatyova deck. But I can't say I'm a fan here, for two main reasons. First, Feather is super color-specific, so I only have room for one colorless land (Reliquary Tower). Second, Walking Atlas only costs a single investment of 2 mana, while Terrain Generator requires I tap three lands for every activation, making it harder to keep protective mana up. I can see the advantage of it being harder to remove, though.

    • @thrasherftw
      @thrasherftw 2 года назад

      A real good one, in my opinion, is if you use path to exile on a token made by young pyromancer, exiling it, getting a land, and making another token to do it again next opponents turn.. also can use a draw a card on one of the heroic token makers to get a token, then path that.. effectively drawing a card and getting a land on the field tapped for 2 mana..
      walking atlas is a good one too, think I’ll be adding that too.

      @coreyroberson4550 2 года назад

      @@thrasherftw Oh, yeah, I've done the Path to Exile/Young Pyromancer trick a few times. It's fun. If you get Mavinda in play, you can even make it crazier - Path an opponent's creature, then cast from the grave on your token while pyromancer makes another token. Do this every turn, and you can remove four creatures and ramp four lands every trip around the table.

    I do love Feather and she is interesting in that many feather decks may be built differently with different strategies in mind. I'm loving the revelation of Leering Emblem. Defo will have to get a copy of that for my build. I couldn't agree more about those two cards for doubling spells. They just don't seem worth it. Your removal of Tenth District Legionnaire hurts the most as its so flavourful and synergistic even if you gave the reasons that you gave to remove it. And I do love Akroan Conscriptor so much in the deck, to be able to trigger it during combat and really mess with your opponents attackers and blockers is just delicious. I think Sunforger is just amazing in this deck though and would include that and with the likes of chance for glory and angels grace which you can tutor both for with it you can give feather and any of your other creatures out at the time indestructible for the rest of the game. Maybe a bit redundant considering all the cantrips in the deck but i like it all the same.

Also the Legionnaire will scale up over the course of the game to surpass Feather simply from the cast trigger.
    I would also call attention to Phalanx Tactics as a fantastic payoff for having Zada and/or Mirrorwing Dragon in play. 1W Instant, +2/+1 to target creature, +1/+1 to all your others. With all the tokens we're already making through Young Pyromancer, Phalanx Leader and Monastery Mentor, that net bonus ramps up very quickly. I would probably cut Infuriate for it.

      If your spells are going to the graveyard in EDH you're doing something wrong. The only situation I can think of where that could happen and it's not the player playing badly is if there is a wheel effect, and even then redundancy should draw you into more of those types of cards.
      Dreadhorde Arcanist is great in the Pioneer Feather decks since you don't always have Feather out. In commander you always have access to Feather, so Arcanist gets much worse.

    I'm sorry but Aurelia's Fury is incredible and has won me several games.

      I'm glad you've had fun with it. Most people tend to agree that the card is too clunky.

      To me, Aurelia's Fury is better off in Firesong and Sunspeaker than with Feather.

      The way you use it is that you start by taking out 2 players with simple just attacking them with feather, the one player that remains, you only now need 4 mana to make them unable to cast any spells past upkeep.
