I am so glad I invested in the DVX-200 when first released. Now 4 or so years later, it is still my best camera. A four thirds sensor is perfect for video. And with a waveform monitor, good size battery, and that fabulous lens it has everything I need. Love it..
This was an almost perfect overview. You covered everything I ever wanted to know about this camera, thank you. The only thing missing was sample footage. That would have made this overview perfect.
I don't understand your complaint about the battery indicator being hard to see. While you were showing us on the battery, I could see the electronic indicator in the camera's screen in the upper right corner - where it should be IMHO (It was also flashing red - you need to charge it!)
Thanks for posting your video. Hoping you might no how to help me out on a playback issue via thumbnail that I have. I want to watch the clips back via the thumbnail with a clear screen, i.e. without any of the Meta data showing on the screen but I can’t find any part in the menu section that allows for the screen to be fully clear. Do you know how to solve this problem?
Wondering how the DVX200 matches with your GH4's? Just picked one up on the after market. Looking forward to working with it. Very helpful review. Much appreciated.
Hello, I have a DVX200 camcorder and a question for you. When I am recording and I have the headphone plugged, I think I only listen the stereo mix audio. Is this the only option to listen the sound or can I select channel 1 or channel 2 independently? In my old Sony EA50 I could set the sound to output to the headphone set to stereo (outputs is stereo) or set to mono (outputs in monoaural). Can I do the same with the DVX 200? Or maybe is better to connect the headphone to the Audio Output, not recomended option in the manual of the camera? Thank you very much.
I ordered and rec'd the largest card (128GB) from B & H Photos with my new Panasonic AG-dvx200PJ (PJ means for North America use). I got the same reading you did. SO0000, I went to system Mode: to Record Format Mode and changed it (UP) to: UHD 2160 and Kazam it worked perfect (and don't forget to reformat all card you plan to use in your AG-DVX200...and..you MUST do it in your AG-DVX200 and never a computer (oops....like I did)...Subscribe John
great review... Im trying too decide between a usd one of these or a Panasonic HC-X1000GC 4K Video Camera ... The HCX1000GC 4K will cost me about $700 au more..... Can anyone make a suggestion bewteen the two?
Hey there.. I have a question and anyone please answer me... I'm about to buy the AG DVX 200.. Is the camcorder capable of outputting 'clean output' through HDMI..?? Anyone can help me out to find it? Clean output which I mean the HDMI output only contains the video signal without any system settings and icon as in the LCD screen
How did you like the DVX200 after the purchase? I have been saving awhile and plan to order soon. Are there any problems, things that were a minor challenge with it? Thanks....
I just purchased this camera and right of the bat the LCD view finder is completely intermittent. I have to press my eye really hard against it and even the LCD still screen goes off and on. What I'm I doing wrong?
hi there I have a question between the two camcorders Panasonic hc x1 and Panasonic ux 180 which one should I get I don't real care about components out put such as gen lock
I just bought the dvx200 and at first sight I must say it looks a bit noisy in low light especially in the grey/dark areas.. Is that normal? :D I've tried to reduce noise in settings but it probably lose a bit of detail.. I dowloaded 1.83 firmware. How do you set up the camera and what gain/iso, scene or color profile settings you use in order to reduce this noise in low light footages? You think VlogL can help in low light?
bonjour could you compare PANSONIC DVX200 with the new panasonic UX 90 , UX 180 and HCX1… DVX200 has 4/3 sensor but do not have HDR recording mode and the others panasonic have 1inch sensor but maybe with HDR the quality of pictures are nearly the same …..and even maybe in low light (concert , street , sunset…)…thank you very much… Tobias from caribbean (do you think with a firmware DVX200 could do HDR too?)
Feature for feature, dollar for dollar... How do you think this camera stacks up in 2021? I'm a micro 4/3 fan (I still use my gh4 regularly) Any cameras that compare in2021?
Well I still have a 35mm adapter, so if i grab that camera i can turn it into whatever i need! One thing I heard, is that this camera is a little laggy if its going into a switcher, have you seen or heard of that? Loved the review!
I did not test the image lag. There is no genlock. Also, you can't send HDMI out to an LCD screen and SDI out to a switcher at the same time. So it's not really meant as a studio cam.
Because I can put a prime lens on the GH4 and get SEVERAL stops more light than the integrated zoom lens in the DVX200. I can put a pancake lens on the GH4 and have a very discrete camera. etc. Plus I also use the GH4 for stills.
The other way around boss -- If you already have a GH4, what are the advantages of purchasing the DVX? Or is it simple matter of, "because I can" deal? Talk to me.
Ah. The DVX200 is ready to go out of the bag. No XLR adapter to add. No servo zoom lens to build on the front of the camera. Etc. It's a camcorder with all the advantages that camcorders offer. For instance, for sports, or news, or documentary, or event video where there isn't really time to spend building and configuring a system and you just need to get the shot, that's where a camcorder is a better tool. For when don't have time to build and configure the system for that one shot.
No footage samples..makes no sense to look at a random dude speaking about the footage quality for about 20 minutes and not actually showing it. Conclusion..good looking plastic box with nice buttons..

THank you!
Sample footage I have is testing a few specific things and that's coming in part 2
THAT is how you do a camera review and walk around. Well played.
Thanks Anthony, very informative! It definitely help me to make the decision of getting the AG-DVX200
thanks for the review, you did a lot of talking compared to other reviews, really appreciate this, thanks!

Would be nice if you can compare DVX200 vs Sony Z150. Or DVX200 vs JVC LS300
Hi Anthony what are these cameras like in low light /night on moving objects such as a freight train.?

You mentioned the GH4. Curious question, if you have a GH4, why would you need or want the DVX200?.
