  • Trout Spey Part 3 - Technique Tips
In Part 3 of our Trout Spey Series we discuss some tips for various trout spey techniques. Topics covered include nymphing, swinging, stripping, and rod tip twitching / jigging methods. The brief overview of these techniques will hopefully give you enough insight as to what methods you can use to be successful when fishing your trout spey. While there are many methods and each day / river or run calls for different tactics this will be a foundation to grow upon.
Be sure to check out the first two videos in this 3 part series for more trout spey info. Also, feel free to message below, or contact us through our website for more trout spey knowledge.
    Enjoy!

what fly did you have on for that take? (if you recall) or maybe a better question is what flies
    are effective for swing\strip\jig tactics?

ha no certainly not! I was totally caught off guard by that especially how cold it was that day. Now only if I could figure out how to get fish to take the fly on cue every time...

Exactly. You can't pretend to look away though, you have to actually space out and then the fish will eat. Have a good one and thanks for watching! - Sean

For Czech nymphing, how do you keep the indicator line above the water when cast so far out? Isn't Czech nymphing for small waters where you high stick the line off the water ? When I cast out in wider rivers I use the New Zealand wool strike indicator which does not affect casting.

Czech nymphing is for short distance not exceeding 2x rod length, but not necessary water is small. I use it 90% of the time, even it is not "pure" fly fishing method, because it's very productive in the situations where nothing else works.

That model was a pair they made available to guides. Had some new features on them. Definitely not a summer wader lol. Stay tuned for something similar this fall....
