So I have a theory about Animal Crossing New Horizons, based on the data mine from over a year ago with a lot of this stuff in it then that just . . . never got added. I think the pandemic really affected their development. They were already delayed, so probably decided to release the game in March 2020, as what they had was a lot of the new features, and a workable main game, as that’s what they could accomplish without crunch at that point. They figured that adding the traditional stuff like Brewster and Kap’n and shops wouldn’t take too long, and you could get along pretty well with what was on island. (I know it worked for me, New Horizons is my first game.) But then, the pandemic really hit the team hard, especially with features which weren’t pretty far along (what I suspect was the July update). Remember that the Able Sisters started as rotational square characters until you built their shop. I suspect the long term plan was to give everyone shops, but that wasn’t that far along yet. They probably thought they’d be done with all this stuff within the calendar year of 2020 at the latest in March, but had to adjust to the pandemic work from home life (which is NOT that familiar to Japan from my understanding). It’s a big downside of the modern approach of releasing a viable but incomplete game upon release. Delays aren’t to people who haven’t bought the game yet, but to the customers who paid you money and are hearing that more is coming. I can’t be too upset about it myself, but totally get those who are. On another front . . . I wonder if this update might be enough to push Animal Crossing over Mario Kart 8. Kinda hard to believe that is the only better selling Switch game right now.
I live in Japan. I think this is 100% right. The initial response here and the delay in getting the vaccine out to the public beyond seniors was especially hard here. We have a lot of seniors. People saying “should’ve” and Nintendo is “lazy”, “cheap”, or “greedy” makes me kind of sad when I think about how hard I’ve seen people and businesses working to deal with this difficult time. I’m not an apologist, but there is real context to the constraints these developers have been working under. And ACNH is the game that got me into this series (and got me through quarantine), even before this incredible update.
@@Petrichoroma Dude, I am very glad they released this game when they did, even where it was. It kept me sane in that first bit of quarantine, even with things that I would prefer to have been added in sooner.
I’m now hoping for two things: 1) Mini games that we can play together with friends AND Residents. And each Resident plays differently. For example, maybe we could play tug-o-war with us and our Residents vs a friend’s Island. Jock and Peppy Residents might be stronger and more energetic, while Lazies might not really try and Smugs/Snooties might not want to get their hands dirty. But even that might vary a little, based on the individual personalities of each character, and maybe even our Friendship ratings with them and their sense of “island pride”, based on our Star Rating. I hope when/if multiplayer arrives, it’s as deep and as integrated into the main island as Happy Home Paradise. 2) I want a Valentine’s event with the Pelicans❣️ It would be so PERFECT! Pete could deliver valentines. Pelly could help by giving or selling special Postcards or something. And Phyllis, as I imagine her based only on RUclips videos since ACNH is my first in the series, could make snarky remarks about how stupid she thinks “Heart Day” is. I’ll search later, but did the old games have a Valentine event? It’s just so perfect because Pete’s a mail carrier already, they have the whole “love triangle”, and pelicans have a lore association to romance with “delivering babies”. I also want Tom Nook and Sable to have a date at Celeste’s Observatory when it opens across from The Roost, so they can finally reunite to gaze up at the stars again!✨ I know ALL of this lore, have all of this investment, because of your videos, @TheBigOReview. There really aren’t many Animal Crossing lore videos on RUclips. Thank you for all you’ve done, and please keep those coming for the many, many new fans like me who want to get caught up!
For anyone who is saying Nintendo is saving this game, that might be true, but it might not. Another person that I am subscribed too brought up a lot of good points about problems and criticisms with this new update. Here is the link to that video, if anyone is interested in another point of view. ruclips.net/video/tDndhvC2xJI/видео.html
@@InfamousRevolver I'm joking but in the video he said that Blathers is back so I thought I might as well joke but this joke didn't work so I might as well delete the comment
Yes. However this big free 2.0 update reflects a year of quiet beavering away, which I'm happy to reward with additional purchase of this DLC. I've definitely had my hours worth. There's no indication of additional paid DLC after this. 'Happy Home Designer' originally was a separate game in previous Animal Crossings, so I think it's a fair price.
Tortimer's only dialogue was about storage, so the minigames might be up in the air
12:40 A lot of people haven’t been noticing they have stairs in a villager home. Do wonder if it will be repeatable for the main island.
great spotting! I hope so too
2:12 Ummmm Blathers was in population growing and brewster was in wild world?
Is no one gonna talk about him calling brewster blathers

Now it’s time to suggest buying multiple clothes at once 😁😁
I didn't notice the froggy chair, only wondered about the people in chat writing about it :D

I really do hope they add new villager dialogue... but knowing Nintendo right now, it's not looking bright.
2:12 noooooo
Glad to see you saw it, as soon as I saw the nintendo direct it seemed a lot of the problems with the game will be fixed
I’m glad new horizons wasn’t originally a complete game because it wouldn’t come out at the perfect time

The thumbnail has a spelling error - “furutre” 🙃
fixed, thanks for the heads up

You mean “might’ve” short for “might have” not “might of”. Fix your thumbnail.
Just did, thanks for the heads up
lol ACNH sold 30 mil it doesn't need a savings people are just overreacting like usual xD
