    At one stage he was probably the most hated man in New Zealand, hated because he was too damn good, hated but respected all the same! "FOUR MORE YEARS!!!" 😢😢😢

    Imagine playing outside George Greegan, with that phenomenally fast accurate pass?? It was once a huge privilege to shake this man's hand and to say "remarkable. Thank you." A player I will always revere

    Size means nothing when you have the talent, skills and heart of a lion...He had all those attributes. Was privileged to meet him in a bar in Sydney after the final lions test 2013. Legend and humble guy

    One of the great scrumhalves, but whenever i see footage of George my eyes look for his mate Larkham. Was an era that seemed to produce terrific Bledisloe Cup matches.
    "Everyone loves George". Strangely very popular in NZ as well. Perhaps they also remember a great era in Bledisloe games.

      As a New Zealander, i have to say, Michael Hooper is by far the toughest player to put on a Wallabies jersey imo. Man had the heart, determination and the passion you don't see from the Aussies. Definately worthy to wear that Black Jersey.

    I wish there was more footage of the guys that George Gregan had to get past here in Australia to get to the Wallaby spot. Guys like Peter Slattery, "Champagne" Sam Payne and of course Steve Merrick, the man who took Gregan's spot in the Wallabies and then all of a sudden just retired back to his farm. All of them were great players, and just to think- there were guys like Aubin Hueber, Werner Swanepoel and Chris Whitaker whom at any other stage would have been mainstays in their national teams; it really was a great time for the aficionado of the scrum-half.

    • @MeanAzz_13

      Payne was ok, but I remember Steve Merrick he was a fiery n tough little bugger! I think he had blond wavy hair I could be wrong, n thinking of Whittaker.

    Gregan is originally from Zambia - good 9 but then there is Joost vd Westhuizen and Fourie du Preez ( all 3 RWC winners including Matt Dawson) Great 9's always win a RWC medal

  • @rogerpattube
    @rogerpattube 4 года назад +1

    Excellent distributor of the ball but average running game means he cannot be considered in the top echelon with the likes of Edwards, Going, Loveridge and Catchpole, or even with Farr-Jones, Des Connor and Hipwell. Contemporaries van der Westhuizen and Marshall were more rounded with ability to break, and physique be a ‘fourth loosie’ when needed. When you can only find a few support play tries in a career of ten years, and have to replay these three times in slow motion to pad out the video you know there’s not much material there.

    • @davidtaliai996
      @davidtaliai996 4 года назад +11

      Lol what are you talking about? Gregan was a better herder of his forwards than any of his contemporaries. His brains trust with larkham was what elevated the brumbies and the wallabies to the top of the echelon for close to a decade. You watch how he directs and positions his forwards before he passes it to larkham to launch the attack it was second to none.
