      And since that remark, it has always been '4 more years' for Aus. He might have unknowingly cursed the Wallabies' WC efforts with his comment 😂...Still, a legendary player of the game who doesn't seem to age at all 😊

    As an All Black fan from South Africa, I usually make a recording of every AB test match. To me the most funny moment involving George Gregan was when he was about to clear from a ruck during a test against the AB's, then Chris Jack counter rucked and the Aussie player in front of Gregan bumped into him (backside into his head) which put Gregan onto his bum like in a car pile up. I lost that recording over the years but would love to see that again

    As an All Black fan I loved Gregan; what a player. And frankly, that was an epic sledge. Couldn't have said it to a nicer bloke either. He kind of skirted around the topic, but pretty clear what he thought of Byron. Frankly aligns pretty accurately from what I've been told by people around Super Rugby and the All Blacks at the time.

    The Wallaby Teams that came after Gregans Era never had the same aura as these guys. Instead they borrowed the arrogance but could never rise to the occasion. As a Kiwi I hope Australia finds it again. Bledisloes have never been the same.

  • @andyhunter5869
    @andyhunter5869 Год назад +26

    That Australian team were always out thinking the all blacks. Finding ways to win by getting under under their skin, neutralising their best players like Carlos, and being technically superior. How Gregan is describing how he knew how to psychologically needle Byron is a perfect example.

    • @nzfreeski
      @nzfreeski Год назад +3

    • @thetalentedmrfitz
      @thetalentedmrfitz Год назад +1

      They were literally smarter. There were more tertiary educated guys in that team compared to the ABs by far. When it came to being able to apply critical thinking under immense pressure, they had a huge advantage. I'm a kiwi and an ABs supporter but that sledge is absolutely legendary and by all accounts Kelleher was a complete muppet. Good enough player, mind, but I remember seeing him out and about in the pubs & clubs in the 90's and he was always strutting around with his chest out as if he was "the man" 🤦‍♂️
