The human being was not designed to be under constant pressure, which is what work does to you. Everyone I know that quits work or retires tells me the same thing. You have no idea how much stress you are under until the job goes away. Even folks who have had relatively cushy jobs have told me this (which surprised me to be honest with you). And people who loved their job also experienced this de-stressing (again, surprising). Many have seen dramatic improvements in their health once they get out of the rat-race. Some describe it as a two month process where the layers of stress slowly peel away from you.
People are burnt out because we are done being lied too. We are done with one person/ “boss” making insane amounts of money while the rest of the people- actually performing the tasks are getting scraps. Work is boring and mundane and lame. We are in different times now- people are aware now more than ever of the things that go on behind close doors and the abuse and disrespect and lack of empathy certain individuals with influence hold. There are a ton of more reason why “working” and “jobs” are now irrelevant but y’all could figure out the rest on your own. This world is fleeting and we won’t last long. Goodbye and take care, stay in the scriptures and may the Lord bless you all.
As a self-employed senior Caregiver in private homes for nearly 15 years, I have experienced ALL FIVE reasons for job burn out. It depends on the client and the family I am working for. When it gets really bad, I give notice and move on. However, no juice/no passion/bored are constantly with me even though I am good at caregiving. I am working on clarity. Love your show Ken!
Toxic leadership and environment are obvious at my work place. I am moving out soon and wishing myself all the best. I really need clarity which i can get more confidence and courage to do things i care for which produce meaningful results. Thanks, Ken for this amazing reality show. All the best.
Watching your show during work hours is not necessarily stealing from a company. There is no reason that thoughtfulness about how to make oneself and one’s team or environment more effective and sustainable has to be performed on your own time outside of work hours when you were supposed to be spending time with your family.
Many people buy things to feel better about their situation, but clearing your debts helps to cure burnout, because it gives you a new sense of freedom and capital offers you choices.
Good tip on NOT watching RUclips during work hours! Totally fine to do it during lunch breaks to motivate yourself and get the juices flowing, but definitely avoid the downward spiral of looking for the next distraction!
Or Facebook early morning, late at night or during work! Seriously I've had to take time off due to getting too anxious/ amped up from that (luckily have a job w/ flexibility, but still)
People are investing too much time on employment for no reward. The money isn't enough to support ourselves anymore. While the VP on up to the CEO is killing it. There simply isn't enough of a prize for folks to feel rewarded for their work. It's the hamster wheel with no end in sight that wears me down. I'm 53, been at the same toxic company for 25 years. Ready for something new and "rewarding".
It REALLY depends on what job you have as far as the watching media while at work goes. If you work 12 hour shifts in a job where you only actually work maybe 6 hours during calls. The rest is pretty much downtime. Granted the 6/12 you do actually work are far more stressful than your average job. Each field and industry is different. It’s not stealing at all in more than a few circumstance.
I'm a truck driver myself. Love the job but the whole industry, for thr most part, is toxic. Too much micromanagement, un needed stress, etc., and running around to different companies as a "job hopper" hurts my application/job history. In a decent position now that pays well but there's just no level of real growth/progress/noticeable results. This has really been the only good type of job for me though. I don't do well at all as a regular employee somewhere punching in hours to follow orders. Definitely feel stuck and burnt out.
Walmart hR: we had to stop giving rewards out because we noticed the employees were too thankful and thought they would all get one so they stopped working. Employees who work hard *never recognized never awarded* Lazy employee: *awards galore.*
Im.a cna have been since 2007 needless to say I've had ton jobs all the same shit bad work environment create burned out it's so hard has gotten worse since covid and I'm the one who always says yes to come into work yep can't do it anymore sorry but not sorry iys ruined my marriage still married though ruined friendship rraltionships exactly not excited about work .
A lot of it has to do with the pay. You can have clarity on what you want to do, but if it pays peanuts then that causes burnout and stress.

No, its just there are too namy tasks at once. You are stressed out and can't do them all and are panicking about it. All the time.

This video helped me at a time I truly needed it. I made a change and I'm thrilled I listened to my gut and had the grit to carry it through.
