The hardest part about this is making sure the files doesn't shift around when loading up the game. I showed a community fix in my SAM3+ AutoOrtho videos on my channel. I realized it happens because of administrative privileges on end user system. The txt Encoding read-only attributes.
FYI, don't let the installer install the AutoOrtho program in Program Files directory.. it will never run..Only to the root of your drive! And if you (as i did) install it, just Cut and Paste to root..
Just for the benefit of everyone here that's not mentioned in this video is that it takes a looong time for AutoOrtho to process scenery files with the latest updates. So long, in fact, that you will think it's hanging. After downloading the cache the application has to check and install each and every single one of them and if they're rather large, it will take time.

Nice job explaining the installation and operation. Might be a good idea to touch upon the Dokan or WinFSP installation. Also, when is the 'Save' option used? After filling in the directory locations? I installed the AO ortho files on a drive with much more space than the one with X-Plane. Created a Custom Scenery folder on it and directed AO to install them there. Then I created a symlink in X-Planes Custom Scenery folder. I have made tons of ortho photos using Ortho4XP and primarily used Google as the source. I don't see that option with AO. Tried them all and Bing seems to give you the best odds of getting the fewest anomalies. Should also be noted that extended night lighting is lost when ortho photos are used. I was hoping Laminar would have corrected this with V12. AO is an excellent alternative to the otherwise very time consuming endeavor of making your own ortho photos. Well done.
hey, got the problem too with SSG 747-8, the big ring of "glareshield pannel/flood" and big ring of "aisle stand panel/flood" take both of them when they're activated a lot of frames. I don't really know how I found that but it was a game changer because bringing them to zero light make me double my FPS on the SSG. Hope that you see my comment and test it yourself 😄
Can I ask you a question sir? If I am using an older version of SAM plugin, should I switch it completely off or switch to ortho4xp mode witch is available on left side of settings panel?
Hey according to some other tutorials, the initial installation is supposed to take about ten minutes.. I've been installing North America region it's been three days already. I had to call it off, the download was almost 600GB!! what is the point of having "Autoortho" instead of Custom Tiles if it's gonna use almost a TB? Has anyone else experienced this?
Yes, that is possible. Just put your Ortho4xp files in a higher priority. I use ortho4xp tiles without ortho photos, just the mesh together with auto ortho. That gives you much better mountains.
I started 1030pm to ,3 in the mornings!!! Couldn't get orthos for Xplane to install anything! Not your fault but u need a PhD! In computer science for this I can't be bothered

@@activex7327 What numbers are you refering to? Perhaps taking a look at the last navigraph survey will help. Can you express why?
@@activex7327 Yes the numbers show that XP is a solid second within all commercial desktop-sims and that it has increased its numbers of users quite significantly in the past year (last navigraph-survey). I can feel your pain, when even you are an XP-user 😂
You tried flying over Africa or the Middle East? it becomes an absolute mess, it's brilliant in Europe and North America, but a complete immersion killer when all the tiles are a mish mash of different colours, like everything on X-Plane its a bodge job, not done properly

EHAM is also heavy on most systems, i wouldnt blame Auto Ortho fully for the frames drop
very true
Thanks, well done. Upgrade is on my todo list. Subscribed!

I still watch these videos, even if I don't play X-Plane

I didn't think much of auto ortho beforehand, since it looked very gimmicky and complicated etc. I'm really considering giving it a go now!

0.7.2 is not a big update. But it seems you upgraded from before 0.5.1 thus you profit from the new scenery pack structure.
Does it support running both XP11 and XP12 on the same system yet?
Hi, Do one need to uninstall the old version before installing the 0.7.2 version? Is so, how can one do that?
Can you or do you have to run both ortho4XP and or Auto Ortho...Or run them separate????
