I think Cliff has always been up for a laugh. I vaguelly remember seeing really old clip of him playing along to "Apache" and Hank Marvin (the guy who appears at 3:33 behind Rick) turning up at the end and demanding he give him his guitar back.

And from there, great acorns arose, with Hank Marvin being the inspiration of Eric Clapton, and in Mark Knopfler, of Dire Straights, case, to not only to play the guitar, but to also have a red Stratocaster too.
Cliff is the 3rd biggest selling music artist in UK history behind The Beatles and Elvis. He's had 130 singles and LPs in the UK top 20, more than anyone else. ...... he has had Number One singles in 5 consecutive decades. He's a legend!

He was famous all over Europe, the Middle East, Australia and NZ. He even had wondeful concerts in Moscow in the communist days.
