    The guitar player in the video was Hank Marvin who was a member of Cliff Richards backing band The Shadows in the late 50s. The group went on to have a huge successful career in their own right. As for Cliff Richard he is one of Britain's most successful chart acts ever with 68 top 10 hits including 14 number ones including living Doll which was originally released in 1958.

    The original "Living Doll" was a huge hit for Cliff Richard. He includes it in almost every concert he does even after all these years.

    I think Cliff has always been up for a laugh. I vaguelly remember seeing really old clip of him playing along to "Apache" and Hank Marvin (the guy who appears at 3:33 behind Rick) turning up at the end and demanding he give him his guitar back.

    • @timberwolf5211
      @timberwolf5211 2 года назад

      That's an amusing clip, and Cliff didn't do too badly either, at playing Apache. The funny thing was, is that Hank's beautiful red Strat was actually, technically, to begin with, Cliff's. Cliff had ordered it from America, and it was the first Stratocaster in the UK. And from there, great acorns arose, with Hank Marvin being the inspiration of Eric Clapton, and in Mark Knopfler, of Dire Straights, case, to not only to play the guitar, but to also have a red Stratocaster too.

    Cliff is the 3rd biggest selling music artist in UK history behind The Beatles and Elvis. He's had 130 singles and LPs in the UK top 20, more than anyone else. ...... he has had Number One singles in 5 consecutive decades. He's a legend!

      One of the running jokes of _The Young Ones_ is that Rick sees himself as an edgy cool anarchist who is in touch with the latest things that "the kids" are listening to, but his favourite musician is Cliff Richard; someone who at this point hadn't been cool for 20+ years and was very much someone that your mum would like.
      That is not of course to say that you should immediately disregard everything he has ever done. Although there are tons of naff Cliff Richard songs he did nevertheless start out in the late 50s at "Britain's answer to Elvis". If you do want to listen to something of Cliff's then start off at the begining with a track called "Move It"

    Cliff Richard is a record holder as he is the only artist to ever have a number one single in five separate decades, he's also had a top 5 album in 8 consecutive decades (from the late 50's to the now early 20's)!

    Yes this is Cliffs song from the late 50s he’s now turned 80 so it gives you an idea of how long ago they made this It was for a charity show in the uk and Sir Cliff has got a great sense of humour I just adore him he is a British icon and he’s still going strong even now I went to see him live in October 2019 he moved around the stage like a 20yr old he always wanted to meet Elvis and even traveled to Germany when Elvis was in the Army and he just missed him by 5 minutes he was devastated I think he is 82 this year Love from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💖😂😂👏👏👍XX

    The original Living Doll was from a film Cliff did called Serious Charge in 1959, he wasn’t the lead. But he ended up doing a number if films rather like Elvis and one of those was called The Young Ones, which is where they got their name from. So it was great when he teamed up with them for this Comic Relief charity single.

    Great reactions bxkid7 and have been watching your channel from the start. If stuck for more uk/Irish shows to react to "Father Ted" is HUGE and there are many episodes to react to and if you look at the views other reactors have gotten you will see that it will no doubt help your subscriber/view numbers big time! You have picked a good niche in reacting to uk tv and there is a mountain of content to get through so keep going and who knows maybe this time next year you will have a million subscribers....a spin on Del Boy's catch phrase!

    Cliff Richard originally released this song with Hank Marvin (he appears in this video) and The Shadows originally The Drifters were Cliff’s backing group. I remember when this was released In 1986. Christopher Ryan who played Mike in The Young Ones appeared in Only Fools and Horses as one of the Driscoll brothers Tony Driscoll also in the spin off Green Green Grass. As well appearing with co stars from The Young Ones the late Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson in Bottom among other comedies Absolutely Fabulous and One Foot In The Grave.

    Haha, so glad you did this! Was wondering if you would after the series. What about Neil's song?? He released it at Christmas 1984 (i think). It won Best Comedy Record. Can't find the official music video, but there's videos of "Neil" performing on tv shows etc. There's also this one, which is the official track.
    ruclips.net/video/UXiis1C6grI/видео.html And yes, i had this and Neil's song on vinyl. This one with Cliff is still brilliant! Another massive song on Cliff's is The Young Ones! And that's Hank Marvin on guitar - part of The Shadows who started as Cliff's band. Love Hank.

      Actually he was famous in the States with "We Don't Talk Anymore". But he was never a big hit in the States. He was famous in Canada though because of the British connection. He was famous all over Europe, the Middle East, Australia and NZ. He even had wondeful concerts in Moscow in the communist days. He is also highly considered by Eurovision Song Contest fans for "Congratulations" and "Power to All Our Friends" representing UK in the contest twice. "Congratulations is a Eurovision classic despite not winning
