Here in Aus we use several terms for the toilets including toilets, the ladies, the gents, the loo, the dunny, the outhouse, the shitter, the thunderbox, to name a few. Men will often say they're "off to shake hands with the unemployed", have a slash, to piss or pee. Ladies used to go to powder their nose or check their make up but those terms are rarely used now and replaced with going to pee. Great to see you thoroughly entertained by this song, I howled with laughter the first time I saw this clip when it came out too.

Cliff was the English "Elvis" in the late fifties/sixties until The Beatles took over the music scene and turned everything on its head. This was one of his big hits from that time, resurrected in this version for charity I believe. The Young Ones (named after another of his big hits) were a bunch of mad buggers, with Rik Mayall going on to star with Rowan Atkinson in the Blackadder series. The bespectacled guitarist taking the solo was the legendary Hank Marvin, leader of Cliff's backing band The Shadows.

In conjunction with the "Band Aid" music charity there was a comedy concert where the Young Ones appeared live on stage and they did this song, but not with Cliff. I don't know why he didn't show, but they did it with Bob Geldoff who sang the first part with the microphone not yet turned on Prior to the music they did some rather dirty humour

We say toilets as do the Brits. Aussies say about 1/2 British stuff and 1/2 American and then there's all the things we shorten and just make up. 😜
