As a german that has read a lot into Islam and is religious, i can say, it is not Islam that is the problem, it is what the peoples of Islam have produced out of it, the failure lies not with Islam itself but the people that failed it. Overreliance on Hadith and Traditions have deteriorated Islam over the hundreds of years, something similar that happened in Christianity with all the selfmade "church father" Traditions and so on.

So, I see no reason for Turkish people to be against a Turkish citizen of Dutch descent becoming an MP in Turkey.
