Now do one that doesn't turn my living room into divorce court?
I didn’t know you watched this channel!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m honored you stopped by!!
I'm the 69th Like
"If your shot doesn't look good, there's only one person to blame, and that's yourself."
OOF
Man that killed me, it went right through the heart.
Me: “maaaan if only I had better gearrr”
ELM: *slaps me*
@Chris Fitch IT HURTS😢
I have the opposite problem. I make pro cameras look crap. Let me know if you need any tips with that.
XD
2nd
😅
This is without a doubt the most informative and enjoyable channel I've ever seen.
I've got my first corporate video gig at the end of the week and I can't wait to launch all my gear off the roof tomorrow in preparation, its gonna be epic.
I use Akaso action cameras and an 8% lapel micro. They should have a low budget competition.
Hope the gig went well! :) Congrats!
Light dark light dark was a great tip for building the scene, I haven’t heard that one before
It's called Checkerboard lighting
Some people refer to it as salt and pepper as well.
I'm just here for the "throwing equipment off the roof" action!
When he said light stands, I was expecting to cut away to the roof again
You guys should make a video about lighting in tight spaces. Almost all of your tutorials demonstrate lighting with a long room where you get great DOF and space for lights and modifiers.
Actually... he did that some time ago...
I love the fact that the gear you used to light this scene can be used for other aspects of making a video.
For example, the moving blanket you used to cut out some of the key light would come in handy for a DIY vocal booth.
Throws camera off a roof.
"We can still return it?"
"YES!"
LMAO
This is day 4 of watching your content. I literally can’t get over how much you’ve instantly become by favorite creator, teacher, what ever you want to call it. So much value in your videos. Thanks for existing.
Thanks so much!!!! 🤫just don’t tell anyone about this channel!
why did this man demistify the most important and basic lighting theory in a few short minutes ....GENIUS
Very sound advice, you can very often get lost in gear. It does matter but knowing the basics first helps to get easy, well not easy but quick great results.
Love the dark, light, dark, light setup. I've never heard anyone mention that before about backgrounds.
Four videos in and I can't stop looking at your videos. Informative, knowledgable, funny, exquisitely crafted. Sorry, I had to subscribe...
Thanks!!! Made my day!!
Master Class here! Well told, and one every filmmaker should see.
I have learned a lot from this channel, i don,t only love every knowledge you've guys shared but also how your every video conveyed. Thank you guys.
Mate, this is one of the best videos I've seen, so simple, so clear, you've gained a subscriber, thumbs up and a comment for Lewis!
Somehow, this is more informative than any film classes I've taken. I just love how practical all this advice is. Thanks so much!
You were in college?
Thanks, this video is so informative, easy and fun to watch.
@5:49 "I don't want to do this, but it NEEDS to be done"
This is the best of @epiclightmedia :D
Wow this video really kicked my old lighting designs notions « off the roof » and I'm happy to say they didn't survive. Thanks for the always illuminating tips.
This guy is the best “light-guy” on RUclips , the level of knowledge is unreal
That was incredible tips, thanks a lot for this helpful video ⚡️
I used the bed sheet trick for my last two Shorts, and MAN...what a world of a difference! I binder clipped it to a microphone stand and used a $50 ring light to bounce off of it. Thanks so much for this video!
Could you make a video on DIY Gobo's and how to use them? I feel adding texture to lighting is something many people miss when they're starting out or doing cheap setups.
This is such a great video. I know a lot of these basics already, but this’d be a great video to show to noobies to video or photography
- Are you going to return this?
[pause]
- Yes!
😂🤣😂🤣 I. just. can't.
love the tips in this!
This was fun and educational !!
Thank you sooooo much - Now I know where my focus should be, - Controlling the light and shaping it. Once again thanks. I would subscribe again if the other button to do so was there.
Always so much fun to watch, while picking up a lot of little tips!
Thanks! I learn stuff too when I watch these videos.
This channel is super cool, the information is super valuable, thank you for making these videos. I’m sorry, I subscribed 🤷♂️
Very interesting lesson about lighting! And I like your sense of humor, by the way :)
This information is so valuable!
Such a helpful video. I love this channel
Thanks for this - it's really solid gold advice!
Hey dude thanks for these amazing tips!! 🔥
I always follow the light...Thank you.
I was today years old... brilliant demo & explanations!
So many nuggets of goodness. Thanks guys 💙
Love it!…. Question, how you’d do “white balancing” mix color lighting?
Is usually split the difference at 4300 or so
HI @epiclightmedia. do you have ways to light, diffuse and bounce for moving shots? simple/ cheap/ effective? also, camera recommendations within the previous parameters that allow focus adjustments. any ideas? Thank you for your helpful content!
That one dislike is somebody who didn't appreciate the camera being thrown off the roof. Haha. Unsubscribed.
Wow! I love it!
Great video!
WOW actually a really good and informative video! I liked it
This lightning just changed everything I was doing mostly wrong in my video. Can’t wait for my next shoot
Tus vídeos son una masterclass
i really love the way you are sharing to us...
Now this is quality content. Definitely not unsubscribing!!
BANG ON video!
Man your videos are SUPER USEFUL. Thank you. Throwing all the equipment from the roof was unnecessary but fun to watch.
Thanks!!!!
LOVE UR WORK!!!!
You give such great information thank you so much
man that "we can still sell it, yes" skit was perfect. idno if that was planned or a quick smart response. but well done👌
amazing thank you
I would like to hear more about how to light shots with moving features and action.
Keep on running the streets, Thomas, you are the man.
I absolutely love how you light things. Can you please show us how you would light a moving scene?
lighting a moving subject requires expensive powerful lights and large diffusion and stuff. People keep asking for this video and I need it make it for sure
the most informative video ive seen in awhile
You're brilliant! Somehow I felt inclined to subscribe to your channel even when you told me explicitly not too. Also your story telling kept me engaged the whole time even though you are super boring ;) To cap it off I'm now writing a comment which helps the ALGO even more...wow just wow.
Hey!!! Thanks!! Haha
can you recommend some mid to cheap microphones for louder music events??
wow this is some real, quality content!!
Wow great point with the aluminium foil! :D
I've been subscribed for way too long, gonna throw my subscription off the roof
Thank u THOMAS. u and ur work a amazing !
Hahaha, didn't need to throw things but I had to be done 😂👍 great teaching lesson about light 😍🙏
Always learning from this channel. Do you happen to have an affiliate link for the boom pole and stand?
I remember arguing with the actors on why it takes a donkey's years for me to start record the camera
You need to trademark™️ your Roof Throw Test, before company starts labeling their gear, ROOF THROW CERTIFIED !
Good idea!!!
I've got a 2 story, you can use it for the 2nd tier certification.
Your audio is so damn good! In all your videos!
the shot with the expensive camera still looked amazing :D
What ???
I Just luv your vids😊
Fantastic
One of the best channel. Love your content those are of great help for me. And no matter how much you stress on unsubscribing, i am not gonna unsubscribe this channel 😀
I’m not gay but I love you 🤣.
You are bringing so much value to me than anyone else. I was a waiter, hated my job. And now I just started my film company and I love it, even if I work for free now. You are amazing. Thank you ♥️
Thanks so much!!! It’s comment like this that make this worth it
@@EpicLightMedia thank you !!!!!
idk what's with people that have tens of thousands of dollars worth of camera gear and lighting somehow saying that you can take a professional photo with any camera, even a shitty ebay one. tbh people still need good cameras, just not everyone needs the latest $5,000 super decked out future camera with a $10,000 lens kit. you can make do with even a decent $1000 bridge camera with a good zoom range, and it will have all the focal lengths you could ever need and have good enough quality. the best part is it wont be confusing to people that aren't great with cameras.
😂😂😂😂 you’re funny great video!
Another "EPIC" Video 👍
I hit the like button the second you started chucking equipment off the roof.
Thanks! WB on camera is 5600K or some midle between 5600 and 3200K?
Great video. And now I’m late for work.
9:33 this actually looks kind of nice considering lamps give light everywhere
Sorry dude... you’re beyond amazing... I had to subscribe. Lol
I was like "Wait a minute, something's not right" then boom 10:28 lmao
haha I just love to learn with you, thank you so much!
And just by curiosity, the cheap camera costs about 5k in my country :´)
I used to come here for the knowledge, now I just come to hear you tell me not to subscribe and other channels I should watch.
You don't tell me what to do.
Subbed.
I wacth 10 times until i understand a basic of lighting.
Epic Light Media: "Remember the lighting! "
Me: "I will remembered sensei"
ELM teaches you hollywood results on a budget. Such an underrated guy.
Hey thanks!!!!
gold video
wait, where's the affiliate link to your bulbs? that's the secret sauce. they had really good CRI!
Damn that ad was slick as hell
I bought a Blackmagic Pocket 4K thinking it would be so much better than my Sony A7III's image...well yeah it's good, but it also just proved your point that it was my bad lighting that I was not satisfied with and not the Sony. I showed both images to my friend and he could't tell the difference between the two cameras. I could see some of the finer differences, but overall it was very close.
I’m gonna go throw my fx3 off the roof… epic media gives the best ideas
Learn Lighting Fundamental First, it'll make any camera a great camera!
I am just trying to find answers. Wouldn't the utility lights from home-depot lack of colour temperature?
can you do two people or more lighting setup?
How do you deal with small spaces?
Back here again to tell you I was at the camera shop today and saw the "NEW" ZV-1 on a display and struggled to fight the urge to just pick it up and throw it.
Throw it!!!! Cameras want to be thrown!!!!
Yes Master! I will do what must be done!!😈
