Do you know what transmission he’s running? I’ve got an 89 Comanche that has a BA10 transmission and I want to convert two and AX15 but I need some more guidance.
Just finishing my Comanche restoration back to original and starting an offroad build on a 2nd Comanche. Some good info on how to proceed with aftermarket products. And yes purists cringe at destroying a hard to find bed.
..... Looks tough... I give you an Official 'At-a-Boy' from me to you... ... BTW, I have an '88 Comanche 4X4, 4.0, 5 speed, Long bed with a camper shell that is about 1 1/2 foot above the cab hight, so I can sit on my fold out bed and not hit the ceiling while wearing my hat.... ... I'm in central Ca. in Sequoia National Forest, in the mountains... Have had this MJ for 12 years... And just added a '65 Willy's CJ5 to the fleet... It has Meyers full range overdrive, with a 283 V8, and 4 speed...
My brother became the 2nd owner of an all original 88 Comanche and it only has 1 minor rust spot and that's in the door bc the window was down when it was sitting for 15 years
Comanche is a unibody but the unibody is not the same all the way forward, same from the firewall forward but there's more floor braces and link mount braces than a xj has. As well as the rear of the cab acting as a cross member and increasing strength even further
Mine is 3 linked with coilovers and bumps in the front and rear. It works really good. I like the fenders on this. If I keep mine I may install them. Thinking of selling though since I haven't used it in 2 years.
@@icanfly1995 I have not posted it yet. I'm not in a hurry. it's on non operation status with the dmv. I will be posting it up soon though. I would send you a pm but I'm not sure how to do that on here.
@@cb.offroad I just inherited the same year and short bed as you have! It was my old man's since new and I converted it to 4wd for him years ago for a father's day surprise when I worked at c3 off-road . It's been sitting for about 5 years or more and is very straight but needs lots of love. Has 150k on it. Want to swap an auto into soon it has the pug 5spd now. Plan is 9inch rear 44 front and a terra low or case from a rubi. Working on long arms now. Mild lift low and slow lots of drop out and just 35s. Love your MJ man killer built! Thanks for sharing!
I’m interested in getting a 87 Comanche and have found one for sale nearby. It looks to be in good condition w/ 119k miles. Interior is very nice. Only thing is is that he’s asking $10,000 but don’t know how much I should offer or if that’s good for what the Comanche is.
10 is a little much. I paid 3500 for my rust free 89 2wd with 108k miles. Add 1500 or so for 4wd. Also look at Floor pans. If there's any rust, it will be there. And the lower cab corners. Unless its a complete restoration type of truck, most 4wd Comanche in good shape are 6 to 8 thousand depending on area of country.
I noticed Ironman is tho only company making a double triangulated rear 4 link that is low profile. I wonder if B4wd has anything like this in the works like this. Btw congrats on getting your MJ on your company's front page 👍
There will always be a place in my heart for a comanche
Wo00oww..
The best comanche
Off Road!!
Beatifuy truck

Love it. Connor is a good dude, Has bought parts off my MJ and he has helped me with Barnes parts...Great to see this.

Do the Matts Off Road Recovery stickers make you run out of gas randomly in the middle of nowhere much? 💁♂️⛽😉

let me know if you are selling it haha
@@icanfly1995 I have decided to try and sell it. I'm going to focus on dialing in my LJ instead of the Comanche.

Sweet rig! How is the power loss with the 37’s? Did you trailer it out to KOH?
Yeah we absolutely trailered it lol. We live in Asheville, NC. Not bad with 4.10 gears. Could stand to be a little lower.
I run 35’s with a 5 spd and 4.56’s. I’d go 4.88’s or higher with 37’s.
