- 1. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES 🌲🏃♂️
Santa Clarita is widely regarded as one of the region’s best cities for outdoor activities.
With a plethora of trails and breathtaking landscapes, the city is a sanctuary for those who like the outdoors. Who wouldn’t like to live in a city that offers such a variety of outstanding sights?
You can take in stunning valley views from Towsley Canyon or take a boat out onto Castaic Lake.
Overall, Santa Clarita is a great spot to live in if you’re a fan of nature and outdoor activities.
2. AFFORDABILITY 💲
We wouldn’t call Santa Clarita an affordable place to live, but if you compare it to the rest of Los Angeles, it actually comes out to be a GREAT value.
The cost of living in Santa Clarita is only about 3% higher than the California state average, whereas in Los Angeles, it is about 6% higher.
Similarly, when you look at home prices, the average cost for a home in Santa Clarita is around $700,000 to $800,000, while in Los Angeles, it is closer to $1,000,000 these days.
So, for young professionals or families who need to be close to LA for work, Santa Clarita represents a relatively affordable community where your money can go a bit further than in the rest of Los Angeles.
3. FAMILY FRIENDLY 👨👩👧👧
If you’re relocating to Santa Clarita with your family and are concerned about the quality of the public schools here, you can rest assured knowing that they are very well-regarded.
In fact, a number of schools in the region have recently been honored as Distinguished Schools in California.
Moreover, crime rates in Santa Clarita are extremely low. Total crime is over 50% lower than in the rest of the nation.
If that’s not enough, Santa Clarita is also home to Six Flags Magic Mountain as well as Hurricane Harbor, so there is always something to do for young families.
So, is Santa Clarita a good place to live if you value good schools, safety, and attractions for the family? It certainly seems like it.

Santa Clarita looks great on promotional posters or videos filmed in spring, however, it is extremely hot in here from May to November. There's nothing to do here during the day when the temperatures are in high 90's and 100s. You can only play w kids in the park either early in the morning or towards sunset. The cost of air-conditioning is high. When it's not hot, it is mega windy. In the winter, it's so cold that you use heater so the electrical bill is high again. If there are wildfires nearby, the quality of air is so bad that you can't even open the windows for weeks. The cost of real estate is the same as in LA, it is definitely not more affordable here. The lush green nature you see in the video lasts only from April to May, then everything turns brown from the intense heat.
Where do you recommend people live?
@@EnergizedAgent Orange County. Better weather, better air, comparable prices for real estate.
Been out here over 25 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else
Nice!
I don't think it's so safe. I used to walk on that bridge and Iron Horse daily. Not anymore 😮💨
Did you have a bad experience at the bridge?
@@EnergizedAgent Yep. Some shady people.
@@desertrose9499 that’s a bummer. I’m sorry to hear that
This place is Hell in the Summer ☀️
Time to hit the pool!
I lived there from 1988 to 2015 and am glad I left, any redeeming attributes like nice hills and oaks like in the 80s has been ruined by tracts ....the Lumber City days where better
