248 miles above the surface of the earth, there is a 925,000 pound (463 ton) pressurized space ship that's worth 10 times its weight in gold. It's the size of a football field and is literally falling around the planet 16 times a day at over 17,000 miles an hour (8kmps).
And somehow, six incredible people eat, sleep, live and breathe aboard this ultimate research facility for six months in micro gravity! I have nothing but respect for them.
Thanks for all you do to improve and advance our way of life down here on solid ground guys!

I poured through hours of footage to find what I consider to be the best available! If you liked this video, I have something you might find pretty interesting!
As you may know, I go through a lot of hobbies, usually building things (Tesla Coils, burning lasers, FPV Quad Copters, etc.) Well, lately I’ve been quite into rockets! pBGYJqgbNg...
Using cheep, store-bought materials and a very simple powdered rocket fuel mixture (66% Potassium Nitrate + 34% Powdered Sugar, and about .5% FeO2 as a catalyst) I’ve been able to come up with some pretty powerful solid rocket engines! I’m still working out the kinks though… Here’s a video of my last “launch” / bgaw6qktget
Needless to say, I’ll be launching remotely from now on (or at least until I can make an engine stable enough that I’m 99% sure it won’t explode in my face. Thanks Larson).
Once I get it all working nicely, I’ll post a video tutorial on my design/build, as well as some gopro footage from on board the rocket! My goal is to reach 5,000ft for under $50!
It’s been fun as always! Michelle and I are heading to Poland next week for a convention, then I’ll be getting back to video making! See ya ‘round the bend!

This song explains why the space program is so important. At least, that's how I interpret it. We need to explore because we are drawn to want to explain the unexplainable, and we can't even explain why we feel that way.

This is an absolutely amazing song!
I eat, breath, and excrete engineering, aerospace, and computers, and the ISS is pretty much the embodiment of everything I want to do. The complexity of something like this is almost too much to comprehend. I have an internship at Boeing working with the ISS, I can't say much because most of what I am doing is proprietary. But if you imagine just the data coming from the ISS as a tiered pyramid of complexity, I am on the bottom corner next to the batteries and I have spent the last week reading about 3000 pages of documentation just so that I can BEGIN to start my job.
And I love every second of it.
Keep up the great work, can't wait to hear more from you.

After Gabe explain how important the space program he applied for was to him. I had to come back to this song. Bringing the feeling of physically observing earth from space to others is an incredible goal.

I admit it, I choked up. It's my firm belief that the space program is the greatest endeavor in all of human history. Even the "giant leap" of landing on the Moon is a only a first small step, but with that step we declared that we are no longer Earthlings, fated to be born, live, and die on a single world. We are now the residents of a vast universe, and though we love our tiny, beautiful blue planet, we are no longer bound by its confines or its fate.
