I have the 1990 Volvo 760 with 260K miles (same body style as your 960) with Rear Wheel Drive. Have you by chance ever experienced a rumble noise from the floor whenever you accelerate from a stop? I have been told that my driveshaft needs rebalancing. Is your driveshaft like mine which has two sections and have three universal joints, one at the transmission, another at mid-point (where the rumble noise occurs) and the third one at the differential? As a DIY, is this a job you ever had to tackle, and what was done/replaced?
That's some smart ass repair but I'm sure a after market can could of saved you hours of labour though ❤️
