Letter from Gisèle Faure to his wife in Rennes Brittany
    Ma très chère épouse,
I was delayed in getting the dispatches from the front by the fool Pierre from Marcé, who took the armies’ dispatches and acted as if they were just the ones set to his unit. It amazes me that he did staff work when I discovered that he took the dispatches I went with two junior officers to collect. To say his office is disorganized is the greatest understatement I could make.
Massena’s corp rolled through an Austrian army that attempted to block our forces from capturing one of their remaining cities. He managed to lure his quarry to attack him after he got his troops set up on a beautiful hill. Seeing this the enemy’s best maneuver appears to have been to rush Massena’s position before he could fully set up. These plans were dashed when Massena’s artillery proved their skills by quickly setting up and letting loose a rapid-fire bombardment of the enemy line. If all reports are to be believed one of our cannons managed to strike two enemy pieces with a single shot. The enemy did manage to one group of our cannons but they were repelled, for that battered group of cannon crews it appears this pattern repeated several times that day with them successfully repelling all the attacks on their guns. Some of his guns did masterfully however two batteries set in the center of Massena’s line managed to strike more friendlies with canaster shots than they did friendlies. As I always have I tempered Napoleon’s anger at the idea our troops were killed by folly and poor command and reminded him that dispatches never tell the whole story. How often do dispatches ignore when some officers do great work and often hide the writer's favorite officer's mistakes from being read.
Further dispatches from the front report Murat fighting another Prussian army outside of Hamburg, that city has seen so many fights. This one was short and bloody, Murat set up a grand battery and shredded the enemy cannons with overwhelming artillery fire. After that, it was a simple cavalry charge smashing the enemy’s rear and flanks.
While we sit and prepare our next round of maneuvers the navy has not been ideal either. After sacking a few enemy ports they captured intel on a Prussian fleet massing to attempt to break our blockade on their ports. They have hurriedly summed a force to intercept this threat and sent infantry into that port to drive the fleet to sea. It's a simple plan either the ships flee our ground forces and are forced to fight our navy, or they are captured by our land forces.
While the war rages on, it appears that some minor good is coming from it. The need to further develop and mass-produce weapons has driven inventors to greater discoveries. Steam-powered machines ones a novelty are becoming more and more common the navy intends to use them if Napoleon would allow them the funding. However currently Napoleon has once again turned to civil engineering, mass road projects throughout the conquered lands, improvement of bridges to support the weights of our massive armies, and relief measures to ensure no one starves come winter.
One such improvement unit, made up of mostly militia, was ambushed by an Austrian army while improving the roads. They fought like tigers killed or wounded nearly twice their number. But they were all killed or captured, the enemy army fleeing after the battle to avoid our large force catching them.
Our largest cavalry forces deployed have finally reached the front lines. It was a huge moral lift for myself and other officers to see the men we had left half-trained now coming to the front with true skill and Espree in their maneuvers. While I'd love to tell you everything we have planned for the upcoming month, I must keep it secret for security's sake. Know that I love you all and look forward to the end of this all hopefully soon.
    Ton mari aimant
    Gisèle Faure

    Hello Mr LH, Sir,
Excellent progress against the Austrians! The people rejoice! Prague, the jewel of central Europe at last and then the Prussians and Berlin.
I truly enjoyed seeing Murat with his Cavalry in a grand sweep against Sweden, even though it was a minor skirmish.
The battle with Austrians with overhead Canon and canister had me worried, but you were correct in the estimation of the terrain. Bravo.
Love this content and keep it coming!🍻

Hehe they said "Ducka era dårar = duck you fools" and "Vi är inom skotthåll general = We are within firing range general" and also "Lystring i leden = attention in line" in swedish.
There is a bugg in the game that makes the danish speak swedish sometimes.

"I am supposed to take Olmutz," Davout angrily shouted at Massena, his camp aides looking at the blood-red marshal due to his rage. "But, Marshal Davout, my men are fresher, and more complete than your army," Massena shouted back. Competing for glory is a norm for the Marshals of France in order to gain the favor of the emperor. Davout stormed out of rage, but understands that he has neither the firepower, nor the men to face the Austrian garrisons in the city. "I was tasked with watching Massena's ass," Davout reported to his subordinates, "As he cannot guard his own rear!" as laughter broke out of his tent.
The 2nd Battle of Olmutz started with an artillery bombardment by Massena's guns. Austrian cavalry tried their best to silence French cannons, but they were raked by overlapping French musket fire. The Austrian infantry also pushed forward and met with canister shot, tearing limbs and arms from men, but the brave Austrian continued on. Upon reaching the French lines, the Austrian line fired a volley but due to ammunition shortages, charged almost immediately, banking on the hopes of their sheer number breaking the French center. There was furious hand-to-hand combat throughout the French center and right, with Massena's lines buckling but ultimately holding their position. Massena, upon seeing the retreating Austrians, order his cavalry to encircle and run down the fleeing troops. However, the Austrians gained cohesion and regrouped faster than Massena expected. His cavalry soon faced musket fire and got stuck in a brutal melee. Though French cavalry ultimately won, they suffered horrible casualties. Olmutz fell, with Austrian Swiss Grenadiers making their last stand on the bloodied street of the city.
In northern Europe, Denmark has a certain headache - a small band of Swedish troops continually harass the Danish countryside and raid towns along their way. Of course, Denmark has their own army, but Copenhagen has a problem of its own that requires the attention of its armed forces. Thus, Danish ambassadors approached Murat and granted his army special access to hunt and defeat the pesky Swedish contingent. Murat agreed and, without informing Napoleon, marched his forces near the town of Hamburg, where they cornered and defeated the Swedish army, turning over prisoners to Danish authorities. Denmark's action had more of an impact than the ambassadors expected, with the Electorate of Mecklenburg and Prussia seeing this as the alignment of the Danish government to a pro-French stance. Thus, Prussian ships were ordered to attack Danish merchantmen and seize any Danish-flagged vessels. Copenhagen had to face the fact that as the frontlines approached their borders, they had to pick a side or face annihilation from both belligerents of this European war.

Also, may I request to name a Hussar in Davout's Army as "Davout's Devils", an grenadier unit as "Iron Brigade", an infantry unit as "Davout's Pride", a Swiss Infantry as "Sons of the Alps", also a cannon unit as "Melody of Paris",

Btw if you have no Idea for a light troop name use the "snails hunters" i find it very fun

Maybe instead of full map conquest, you should aim to end the campaign when every faction you’re at war with has been destroyed. It would mean conquering down through Italy and north in Sweden which would be fun to see.
Also seems very historically on-brand for napoleon to restore ‘peace’ to Europe although his version of peace is more like military domination.

Not sure if that helps but I think you can besiege the city with one army then smash the one standing near with a second army without reinforcements from the besieged. Works on other Total war from the period

Hi lionheart great series so far. I was just wondering how come you haven't done the 40 stack armies and 30 stack navys from Darth Mod options? It's awesome they even made the deployment zones bigger and bigger than the already big maps to fit the 40 unit stacks

I ran into a lot more pathfinding issues when I tried it out so have preferred to stay on the normal 20 unit armies etc.

@lionheartx10 oh ok that's unfortunate I haven't really had any major pathfinding issues although sometimes the cav goes a bit wrong but I can kind of put up with thay cos it just makes the gameplay so much more emmersive when you have like 7 units of arty giving a decent 28 guns then like six to eight cav then the rest variables of line infantry and light foot or and skirmishers
